After using carto tanks exclusively the past three months, I thought that I had this down pat but have been running into issues the past week.

my carto tank keeps flooding on me. It is fine for 30 minutes or so and then starts gurgling and I end up with liquid in my mouth. I blow out the excess and I am good to go for about fifteen minutes and it is flooded again. I put in a new cartomizer and again am only good for about thirty minutes.

i don't have any new juice and have been using the same battery. I am at a loss as to what I am suddenly doing differently that is causing all of this flooding now.

Oh and I am using a smok locking tank with a dual coil 1.5 2 hole cartomizer.

I slot my own carto's with a dremel as many many moons ago I over ordered some boge cart's that were not perforated. The only time I run into this problem is when I make the slots too big....That's when they flood out.

However, is there any chance your not getting a good airtight fit on the tank? My G8 will also flood when I forget to put the fill screw in it. Possibly an airleak on the top seal??

I definitely have the heat going and will for the next five months. Should I switch to a one hole cartomizer?
This is certainly worth a shot. Since Smoktech's carto's have a less dense polyfill and therefore more prone to flooding, you may need to consider switching to the more densely packed Boge XL cartos.

I am trying to figure out what could be different or what has changed recently to cause the flooding. You said prior to this you had been using cartotanks for 3 months with no issues.

The wrong technique in one's draw on the carto can cause flooding. Too hard of a draw can cause too much e-liquid to be wicked into the carto from the tank. Long, slow, gentle draws allow the correct amount of e-liquid into the carto.

Too big or too many holes may allow too much e-lquid into the carto. Changes in barometric air pressure (altitude changes) can cause flooding. Excessive heat can thin e-liquid. Too thin of e-liquid (higher Pg ratio), too. Never been a fan of the locking tanks nor of the tanks which have a juice fill hole - many seem to be fraught with problems...primarily of leaking or flooding.

Heck, a bad batch of cartos can cause flooding too.

During last winter, I was using 1 hole cartos. Never noticed a problem (of course, down here it normally stays warm...) but I do normally use 2 hole cartos. Unfortunately, I've switched to BCC's for the most part, so I'm a touch out of the loop now.

It sounds like Kevin has the same diagnosis as I would suggest. Could it be the loss of negative pressure inside the carto-tank? This could be caused by the O-rings getting worn after months of use. You did not mention the type of tank. Some tanks have replaceable caps or grommets that would restore the seal.

That was one of the problems I had with those tanks, I had two, and tossed both, go to IBTanked and get a good tank, that's what I did.
