Howdy folks,

i purchased a couple of the Boge F-16 carto tanks. The taste is great, seals are all nice and tight, no leaking.....from the seals. I'm finding juice under the carto on top of the connection on my ZMax. Sometimes, no juice, sometimes, lots of juice. Enough that it has overflowed into the area around the connection.

Am I doing something wrong, cause I like the flavor and the relative ease of using these tanks.

thanks for the assist,
Big Mac

The fact that sometimes it's there and sometimes it's not leads me to believe that ... sometimes ... you pull harder on it than others.
The more negative pressure you create inside the carto the more juice you will pull into it. This can cause flooding, and juice leaking out the bottom. A little bit of juice under the carto isn't a problem, but a lot might be.
You can always put your carto tank on top of a sealed shorty extension if you think it's a problem.

Could be you punctured or burnt a hole in the center tube of your cart Ive done that on occasion. I have a M1A1 tank and if I tightened down the thumb screw to much that caused the same issue. I think it made a very small gap in the seal not enough to leak but enough to cause flooding. Its very frustrating I know exactily what you mean it works for awhile then flood ggrrrrrrr in most cases its a punctured tube.

I have to use care when punching my cartos not to over do it. If you look at factory punched cartos the holes are very small, most carto punches can make much larger holes allowing the flooding the OP speaks of. I prefer single coil cartos, the small holes easily provide enough juice. When I do use dual coils cartos I offset the holes, one high and one low and refill the tank as needed to keep both holes in the juice.

These came prepunched, dual holes. They are the boges LR, ZMax sez 1.7. It just seems strange that sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. Maybe it is about inconsistent draws, guess I'll have to keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Thanks folks, and if anyone else has more info, chime in my friends.

I'm glad to hear that you are using pre-punched cartos, hopefully the laser-drilled, and not the tool-punched ones.

The use of laser-drilled cartos eliminates some issues that tool-punched cartos can have. Now on to your problem.

What you describe makes me think you are inconsistant with your vaping technique. A cartotank system works on the negative pressure in the tank, when you take a draw with suction, it forces more juice into the carto which is replaced by air into the tank. If you are vaping too hard, it causes too much juice to enter the carto, resulting in flooding the polyfill absorbant material in the carto. It has no where else to go but into the air tube, and gravity draws it toward the battery.

I suggest you concentrate on your vaping technique. Slow, steady, 4-5 second draws. Try to remain consistant in your technique. Your not puffing on an analog, remember? :D

I LOVE the F-16 tanks! I have a few of them and will probably buy a few more. Out of everything I have used they have provided the best vaping. I would get juice on my batteries post from time to time with these and I have found that its due to flooding from not allowing sufficient air flow. If your air flow is too tight you will just suck more juice into the carto than you should when you take a draw. I use a thread sleeve and even though it has notches machined in it for air flow I find that not tightening it up too much to the bottom of the tank helps. I've only seen the F-16s at two places ecigbestsave and Vaporbeast. Both places sell them for $6.99 but Vapor Beast has free shipping on these!

Lol, got them last week from vapor beast.

Being consistent, just since I started this thread, seems to have done the trick, at least so far. No more juice on the connector and of course that means no juice anywhere on the top. It's funny how it can all boil down to a little minor thing, like paying a little more attention to your technique when vaping. Wonder how many folks would have started with blaming the carto, blaming the tank, blaming the mailman, etc. glad it's something so simple as " slow down Mac, be consistent, its not a Mickey Ds milk shake!"

    Thanks guys

As a long time vet here, many new cartotank users blame the tank, carto, or juice. They never consider that their vaping technique is wrong.

I'm happy that you found the solution to your problem. :thumb:

    Howdy folks,
Wanted to check in, just to let y'all know that consistency has worked. Haven't had a leak since you told me Bad to pay attention and be consistent. Well, it works, lol. Who'd thunk?

Hey there Baditude (and the rest of yas). I've been looking around for a tank that will stand up to the citrus type juices. I understand the glass/quartz tanks will do the trick. Also the polypropylene tanks (is that right...?) will work. I'd like to ask your opinion on a good starter tank that will stand up well in the wonderful world of citrus flavorings. I'm wanting one that is gonna last for a long time with good care. In my searching around trying to figure out more about cartos, I can't seem to find info on what makes a carto a regular, or XL or.....you get the picture. I like the boge cartos I bought with the F-16 but can't find anything that tells me if its an XL or XXL, ETC. I'm also open to trying others if there is a suggestion. I can get a couple of good tanks, and try a diff brand carto........all on a new device. Wife knocked the ZMax off the table and it bit the dust. Groove should be here in the next day or so.

Thanks as always for filling in the blanks in my education.
