Now today I got the Smok DCT 3ml and the taste is amazing. Wow, I've had this thing for a few hours now and its like a whole new vaping experience for me. Now again I don't have much experience as I stated but if I can get even 4 days out of this wow! The taste is amazing! Ive tried protank mini 2 (its a clone didnt know that when I bought it) and am using kanger protank heads (official, I know as I ordered extras from ecblend a reputable site and they dont look like the extras that came with my kanger or the clones I bought) and I just cannot get more than a day maybe day and half without it burning on the clones or official heads. I have also tried the ce4 which is nice, and I can get about 4 days out of one of those, but I have to be careful on how I hit like the kanger. I also have a non clone evod dark purple I got from the same site I got the proper kanger coil heads and its a little better than the protank in taste (I dont care about clouds), but it still burns out and I have to baby it since its the same head.

I have a question about its use though can I chain vape off of it? Unlike the ce4 and kanger/evod because juice is always in there & same with those kanger/evod etc but its such a small wick? (I filled the tank sucked the whole tank up then refilled it). I am sure I'll figure it out the more I use it, but so far its great and like I said if I can even get 4 days out of it I'd be extremely happy.

Another question is if I cannot do this with the Smok DCT what is a tank that I can hit gently, but chain vape off of? With the ce4 and kanger I have to be very careful or I'll burn it (I'm doing the long soft pulls on it not hitting like a cig and still it happens) and I also have to switch between the kanger and the ce4.

With the kanger/evod and ce4 I am more worried about hitting it right, not hitting too much, hitting off one bat then the other etc. I want a tank that I dont have to fuss with so much. What would it be if not this carto tank?

I hope I'm not rambling too much! Thanks for the help!

Just putting my 2 cents out there, I started with a Protank 2 and I really liked it very much! Only when it worked properly however as I had to be finicky with the heads and what not, flavor wicks, to get it working properly to my specifications and preferences. I acquired 3 Boge F16 carto tanks to try out last week and I never looked back. I could chain vape for the whole day almost and all I would have to do is to refill my carto tank with juice to keep going. It is only today that the three cartos that I havent changed yet are getting to be a little stiff on the draw so that means it's time to change the carto soon.......one week of constant chain vaping of at least 2 hours a day and now its barely starting to be stiff on the draw (Boge stainless 510 cartos, two hole pre-punched). That is a much better performance then what I was getting out of the the bcc protank 2 when I had to change the heads almost every 3 days compared to a week with the Boge cartos.

You found out what a lot of cartotank owners found out long ago. You'll get better flavor from a cartotank than a clearo.

You also seem to know why. Clearos only use small wicks to bring e-liquid to the heating coil - a relatively small surface area.

A cartomizer uses a big wad of polyfill as the wick material (much larger surface area comparatively) which totally surounds the heating coil.

How long the carto lasts in a tank before it needs to be replaced depends on several factors. (How dark or thick the juice is, how hard its used, brand and model, etc). Most of us use mutliple cartotanks simultaneously, with different flavors in each one, and switch out between them throughout the day. This prolongs how long the cartos last. When the carto starts to taste burnt or have a stiff pull then its time to replace it.

Most people use single coil cartos.

So new question why do people like the single coil vs the dual? Is LR short for low resistance? Are these just a matter of preference? Now another question I just thought of are all cartos the same size or are they not interchangeable? Meaning would I have to buy a new tank too if I got the LR Boge like you have or another single coil tank?

I've given the clearo's up too. On a G8 with Boge 45mm 3 ohm single coils......Never going back. Just use a easy light and long draw...I got 3 weeks outta the last set on mostly clear juice(the sweet dark stuff is hard on everything) and a month out of the set before that.....Although my dark Chocolate eats a cart every 2 weeks.

I chain vape mine also and am really really NOT digging this Kamry K200.....for the first time the weak link in my vapor is the mod not the atomizer.

LR = low resistance. SR = standard resistance. HR = high resistance (for variable voltage mods).

S = standard length carto. XL = extra long length carto.

Cartomizers all have the same diameter to fit into any cartotank. There are standard (35mm) and XL length (45mm) cartos for standard and XL length tanks. The resistance (ohm rating) of the coils inside the carto affect how hot the vapor will be.

Dual coil vs single coil is a personal preference. You can put a single coil carto in a dual carto tank, and vice versa.

I prefer single coil because I found that it is hard to keep dual coils from burning the top coil's filler due to their design. The top coil is about mid-shaft in position inside the carto, which is higher than wick holes in a punched carto (see below diagram - red arrows represent juice flow). Even if you properly prime the carto, the juice from the tank will not consistantly keep the top coil wet enough to keep it from burning the filler.

Placing a hand-punched hole higher in the carto shaft is not the answer, because when the juice level in the tank falls below the higher hole, air gets sucked into the cartomizer and causes dry hits. Enlarging the bottom holes may result in flooding the carto.

The name "DCT" or dual coil tank is a misnomer. This is what Smoktech called one of the first cartotanks made, and included their new dual coil cartomizers. The name just stuck on to mean all types of cartotanks (even those made by other tank manufacturers), much like how Bandaids is synonomous with adhesive bandages and Kleenex is synonomous with facial tissues, etc. Many novices believe only dual coil cartos can go into a DCT, which is incorrect.

Thanks for replying again! Unfortunately the links aren't working! If you wouldn't mind reposting? Thanks in advance!

Also, does this mean the dual coil is going to get a burnt taste faster than a single or does it simple just burn it and make it look bad and not alter the taste?

I've been using cartos about a week now, and I'm sold - consistent vapor and flavor from start to last. My Kanger is in the car now, with a charger, and my home kit is now a clearo and an MVP. I can hit it all day, and it's the same, any user of Kangers will know that a clearo is only as good as the head, so the older it gets, the worse the experience. Oh, well, the heads are cheap, cheaper to rebuild, and I do use my Kanger still. I keep my Kanger Pro II mini on the desk for when I just want a small amount of something else instead of what I'm vaping all day (caramel popcorn right now). I'll probably add a dripper to the mix eventually - I'm willing to try it all!

The pics should be working now. When I deleted the double post it also deleted the original pics.

It's been my experience with dual coils that they begin to taste burnt after some time vaping them. YMMV.

They work! Thanks again! I definitely have a dual as I have one I can see on the top of the filler.

If all I have is the ego 1100 mah passthrough (not variable) should I stick with the SR ones and do the LR or HR ones if I decide to pull the trigger on the MVP 2 (seems you only mentioned variable on the HR)? I'm so sorry I keep coming up with questions! But, I really appreciate your and everyone elses help!

I really think this may be the ticket to enjoying vaping again as I have not been and I know that will lead to smoking again as I stopped and went back to smoking 4 years ago cause I had to mess with the 510 all the time.

Also mine is definitely the 35mm.

There are no hardfast rules written in stone. The choice of resistance is personal preference and dependent on the gear you use.

LR & SR is usually used for fixed voltage batteries.

SR & HR is usually used for variable voltage batteries.

Using a variable voltage mod like an MVP, a high resistance coil will allow for a wider range of voltages. As you can see in the general guidelines of the Safe Vaping Power Chart, a 3.0 ohm coil will allow a choice of voltage range 3.3v to 5.0v. A LR coil will be limited to lower voltage settings.

I too started trying cartos about a week ago (tankless cartos) and I too am impressed. My plans are to get a couple of tanks soon. Still undecided on which.
After owning several different cartotanks, I've settled on the pyrex tanks from IBTanked. They are high quality at a very reasonable cost. Very popular here on ECF. I've accumulated over a dozen in different sizes. IBTanked Pyrex Tanks: Review I recommend you check them out.

Ok so I posted somewhere earlier about my carto experience, great for a day then the carto started flooding and all my juice started runnining into the carto. I took it off the mod and cleared it, it vaped good for 30 minutes then all the rest flooded into the carto. Dunno what happened there, I went from office to outside during this time period as well.

Kinda would like the carto thing to be another good vaping experience.
