I've been vaping long enough to know when somethings up.

I recently started vaping alot of my carto tank. As it never leaks, or floods, or burns... whatever. Only thing I dont love is the tighter draw...

but regardless, I've started to notice a slight scratchy feeling in the back of my throat now...
Its been probably 4 days that I've vaped on my tank non-stop (opposed to say my evods, protanks, etc..).

Now I did go to a party with lots of people smoking around me, and that could have been it, but is there anything else I should look out for while vaping a carto tank?
Its not burning, the flavor is awesome. Just a bit harsh...

I've had that going on the last week or so myself, very annoying actually. Same sort of nagging smoker's cough but only in the throat if that makes sense, I've been wondering if it is one of my newer juices (just received several different custards to try) or maybe over use of my RDAs and direct lung inhales.

Yes.
The carto itself. Not the tank.

You have a choice of different brands of cartos; boge, ikenvape, and smoktech.
I don't use them myself but those are the names I know of.

btw, you are useing unpainted prepunched cartos right?

Other than being a more efficient delivery set up not really
Tis' the season tho' ;)

Yea, it should be just the weather or maybe better delivery of nic...

Yeah, I know what you mean! Its only the throat! No lungs, no nothing...

Now on a side note, I also have noticed some sort of shortness of breath. But I credit that do the carto tank having such a tighter draw. I think its making my chest work alittle harder and it doesn't love that. (dont get me wrong, its not like sucking on a piece of window, but its just tighter than my normal set up)

Yes, pre-punched, no paint, no plastic outside. They are SmokTech cartos with the stopper for the tank at the bottom. (metal disk thing)

I've got the shortness of breath too, afraid it may be I've changed my vaping style and getting too much/too thick vape or too much nic now. Could be the same for you.

Yeah, my clouds have defiantly gone up lately. I honestly am thinking very strongly about cutting the nic all together.

I don't seem to have much of a dependency on it anymore and I hate how it starts to make me feel.

Have you tried any of the other cartos?

The different manufacturers are going to be using slightly different wicking/filler material, and the thing I am concerned with is that material.

Unlike clearos and rbas where you know whether you are using silica or mesh or cotton, with cartos you don't know what it is. ("Filler" or "polyfill" does not identify the substance).

Im in the process of ordering new cartos for my tank, just havent gotten around to it yet.

My normal setup is generally a protank mini 2, 1.5-1.8 ohms, vamo v5 at 8-9 watts.

Setup now is my generic cartotak, 1.5ohms, 10-11watts.

actually, it does. polyfill by definition is polyester fiber fill.

nathan; personally, i'd assume what you're going through an increase in vapor production leading to an increase in throat irritation. could be some lung irritation too. especially if you're taking more direct lung hits to prolong a draw for lack of air flow. the deeper hit will also directly affect the irritation at the back of the throat. hence why noobs are encouraged to start with mouth to lung inhales to lessen the blow to the back of the throat until their bodies adjust.

Well I tend to only do mouth to lung, though I do chain one or two drags at a time.

I'm assuming you're using the same juice? Same Nicotine & PG content? If not, it could definitely be a difference with the juice.

However, I'm guessing you've most likely ruled that out and you're using the same eLiquid. In which case it could be a number of reasons, all of which I'm not sure about. It could be the tighter draw I suppose - especially as it's new to you (you might just need some time to adjust). Or it could be the brand (my least favourite brand is actually Smoktech, my favourite cartos are Boge Slotted but some people swear by Ikenvape Cartos). I'm not sure it'll make a huge difference, though.

I noticed you've slightly increased the wattage. I'm not really sure that would make much of a difference but considering the Ohms are the same it could do - you're putting that little bit more power to the coil and therefore you're probably getting a warmer Vape. Someone might be able to back that idea up, in which case give a lower wattage a try for a while. Perhaps you should even try some higher resistance cartos, as the lower the resistance the more you're expected to get a more intense throat hit.

Finally, it could have been being around smokers. A few weeks back I ran out of eLiquid and money at the same time (silly and a result of poor planning) so went back to analogs. Once I returned to Vaping my throat got sore and stayed that way for one or two days before I got used to it again.

Oh and force yourself to drink some more water, if you don't drink much already. Not tea, or coffee: water. Both tea and coffee contain caffeine which just exacerbate dehydration. Drink water while you Vape, too. Cold water.

P.S. Loving the TARDIS.

Haha, thanks! I love the tardis as well! lol

Lots of good info, I plan to try some new cartos. It is the same liquid, its my all day vape.
I drink lots of water, the wattage could go down, though im loving the clouds! haha

I did manage to bust my last carto (tried to punch a new hole, and it freaked out). So for now, its not a huge problem, but i'll try all this once I get more cartos in! :)
