Carto Tanks

So what's a good affordable carto tank setup? I've seen several cartos come pre-punched too (don't worry, I'm looking at the ones with actual holes, not needle punctures). I'd like pyrex, but don't want to be spending in upwards of $50.

I'm just not into the ProTank 2. Looks fantastic and fills easy enough, but the flavor production just isn't doing it for me. I'm going to keep it around though because I plan on getting into building my own coils eventually. It would probably rock with a better coil/wick.

What are those tanks I see with Rebuildable Atomizers on it where the wick sticks halfway into the tank and halfway out of the ato head? Those look like they'd be stellar.

At about $12 a pop (for the larger V1) and I imagine less for the smaller V2, I was able to buy a handful (okay, a double handful) of the SmokTech Pyrex CartoTanks.

I'd be the first to say that they are "entry level" for pyrex. They are not as flexible or nearly as well-crafted as some of the better (and more costly) offerings out there. They are however, a good value and one way for someone to (relatively) cheaply see if they appreciate and like a glass carto-tank.

Like these? They are clearomizers. Cousins, but because they have a non-carto wicking and atomizing system, they're pretty different from cartotanks. Both cartotanks and clearomizers have their hard-core fans as well as plenty of vapers who use/enjoy both.

Smok DCT tanks are my go-to's. Polyproylene, cheap. Easy to use.

However, if you want "the hook up", check into IBTanked, Valley View Tanks, or possibly Smok pyrex-wrapped-in-aluminum tanks.

I saw Pbusardo using one during and interview with I think a member from here. It was a rebuildable atomizer with a tank on the bottom. They both had a mesh wick sticking halfway into the tank and the other half sticking straight up through the coil.

I think he may be referring to Genesis style atomizers. They work really well...fiddly as hell , but they work really well. Carto tanks? AGR is a good tank to start with. They come with standard and xl tubes , they lock your carto in place so no slipping off issues, top fill hole and they're pretty cheap. Pyrex version is AGR+. You need unflanged cartos though, like Boge.

For the tube and end caps on a 22mm (diameter) tank, the cost is $25 before shipping, which includes a "thingy" that helps with priming the carto and acts as a storage case.

Be aware. On some devices, these locking style tanks do not make a good connection to the 510 battery connection.

If I'm reading correctly you want a RBA then. I'd start with a Smok RSST or a AGA-T2. Plenty of vendors sale them. Rtdvapor, steam monkey, discount vapors. For me the rsst was easier to build when I first got started. Is this what it looked like? If so that's an rsst.

+1 on the IBTanked. Cant buy a better tank at any price.

I suggest single coil dual lazer punched carto's to go in them. You can order some of these at a reasonable price from IBTanked for about 1.30 each when buying 5 or more. Try a few of these (by Smoke) , then go over to Ikenvape and order a few of their "fusion" cartos and see which you like best if you can tell any difference at all. Some say you can. Boge is the other carto on the block to put in your IBTanked carto tanks.

My life got so much easier when I got into the Carto tanks. I vape Provari's and these tanks along with DIY juice and Im pretty much satisfied and set. No more complaints. I keep a half dozen of these tanks filled with different juices and just switch out when I get the bug....

Yeah there's tons of lingo. It takes all of us a while to fig out
An RBA is a rebuildable atomizer that has some kind of tank like the one in my pic. One of the more popular ones for beginners is the Igo-L. They use kanthal & silica or cotton instead of mesh.
You're correct a RDA is a rebuildable dripping atomizer. It doesn't have a tank so you have to drip into it once the liquid gets low. Many of them have a little reservoir in then that holds a little liquid but not like the RBA's.

Chimney, the PBusardo video, the guy he was interviewing had a technique for his mesh building. The tentacled the end that sticks in the liquid. PBusardo said it was a great little tweak and and resulted in quicker wicking action. I can't seem the find the video.

It does look pretty good! It's also nice that they come with prerolled mesh. I rolled my first one with no problems but I could never get it right again after that one. Now I just save myself the headache & buy prerolled. Lol

Asked in another carto tank thread, figure I'll ask here, but has anybody had any experience with the AGR+? Seems like a nice, cheap upgrade from this old plastic tank I have. Thanks for any info. Looking at the IBTanked stuff now, not sure I want to spend that much as I drip primarily, but have been toying with cartos again recently.

I don't think I've seen that one. I did watch him build the RSST. I believe he did the same thing when he built that one too. He kinda cut a slit in the mesh. Is that what you're referring to? I followed that video when I built my first one.
