DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!
I got a cartomizer last week for the first time...after 2 years of vaping, just to try it out. I got the eGo mega cartomizer. I cant figure out whether you are supposed to fill from the mouth end hole or atty hole (yes i have surfed the videos and the site to see, but get conflicting info), and then some say you can drop directly from bottle! but what i dont get is that how do you know when its filled? you cant see any of the filling, so you cant see if it's slushy or pooling or dry!
and then what kills me, is that i watch the videos and i see people demonstrating cartomizers with plastic pin like things you have to take out of the atty..mine doesnt have anything like that.
these cartomizers are the MOST CONFUSING THING IN ecig WORLD!!!
ok another question....i read somewhere on new members forum which i cant post in, that you can use drip tips on cartomizers by "removing the cap"...well i have a Delrin drip tip that i use on my eGo but there is NO place on the cartomizer that it would fit on/in! there is no cap to take off, except for a condom cap.

I know...I hear your pain! I actually like the these cartomizers BUT the filling is crazy! I posted a question on this yesterday but haven't heard anything.

Okay, so hear's what I do. Using the end of a paperclip I take off the first 2 caps (the whistle tip end) and plug the battery end with the plug it came with. Then, using a the paperclip or small sharp object I pierce the covering of the small hole so the liquid can go in. Next I use a syringe and SLOWLY put the juice in the small hole. Typically, I can't get more than 1ml in because juice goes everywhere. At that point I clean up my mess and put everything back together!

So, my question on the board is, anyone else have success filling another way and not wasting juice?

As far as using a drip tip - well, I don't drip...yet... but I don't think you can because the whistle tip stays in place and you would lose juice. I say, stick with your atty and tip on that one.

hmmm well my cartomizer whistle tip has no parts to take off..so when you say take off first two caps...i have no idea...must be a different kind, since mine is an eGo mega cartomizer...it is one solid unit-nothing to take off except condoms on both ends.

Yes, they all have two parts to remove from the mouth peice. It may look like one piece, but they are not. I use needle nose tweezers. Here is a great thread that explains the whole mess of them. lol Sorry, I jest. I had good and bad experiences w/ them. I found I can make the mega attys/carts work better. I still plan to buy a 5 pack for back up one of these orders, but I have 10 eGo mega attys and no worries currently. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/good-prophets/104597-ego-cartomizer-q-refill-thread-gp.html

Yes, I believe I have the same kind... The hole in the whistle tip should come off if you pull it off with a paper clip. I'll try Jimbo's recommendation of filling from the bat end...and yes PoliticallIncorrect they are evil! :)

I don't believe people use drip tips on the "Mega" cartomizers you got. If I'm not mistaken they are built differently and offer no place to put a drip tip. However, normal Cartomizers (Not the mega ones) come with removable soft caps. Just a rubberish cap with a hole in it that can easily be removed with a paperclip. Once thats off just put on your drip tip, there are no other obstacles to remove or mess with, just the filling which you'll see right away after you take the soft cap off. At that point you can either drip your liquid in the drip tip, or use the condom method to refil. someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I wouldn't do that, because there are wires, the coil, the primary coil wick, and the plastic holding all that together down there.

There is a video at the link LowThudd and I provided, please take a moment,

Honestly I think [wishfully] they were meant to be $1 plastic cartos, which is why I like the Ce2-XL much better, and at least the new XL-CE2 we are fortunate enough to be able to buy them at that low price.

When I got my ego cartomizers months ago (I think it was months) I paid around $3 a piece if I remember, and so I was expecting them to be worth it, but I found them too leaky and expensive for me, and they're really intended for the ego, not a vgo. But they do hold a lot, I did like that when I had them.

For me, bridged cartridge-atomizers were even more costly and more of a pain to have to dirp 3 drops every 5 minutes, I think that's the reason they have been inventing cartos that hold up to 2 ml.

great video....but wonder, why did someone not create a cartomizer that is easier to fill? that seems like a whole lot of work compared to cartridges and attys...

Honestly, they work well for what they are. They are not meant to last forever. I've had good luck w/ 3-10 refills. Being 2ml storage space, that aint bad. But, what problems are you having w/ the mega attys/carts? I may be able to help. The design is meant to be disposable, much like the carts. But us crazy americans we like to reuse things over and over. lol Myself included.

I really like the mega atts/carts too. What is the best way to refill or mod the carts? It seems they dry quickly and juice is wasted in the polyfill, plus they leak. What's your trick?

no probs with mega attys/carts...just wanted to try cartomizers to see what they are all about. still havent been motivated enough to get out tools to jack with it and pull pieces apart, just to fill em!
