Hello All,
I have started cleaning carts and it has been working out pretty well. I have a few question which sorta concern me due to my children.

1. I do this late at night as they do not know I vape or ever smoked. I am concerned about the steam that comes off the pot when boiling the carts. Are there health risks to them?

2. When I am done boiling I scrub the helk out of the pot but I am concerned that it might be leaving a residue that I cannot see. Is the pot safe to cook in after I scrub the helk out of it?

I am guessing these are some questions for our vets out there. The last thing I want to do is introduce health risks to my family.

Thank you in advance for any light that can be shed on these subjects.

Hi SIC08869, altho I live alone, I think I can provide some info. I don't believe there is any health concerns for your family in regards to the steam from the boiling pot. Also, if you wash the pot properly I don't think there is any concern either. I have used my 'cleaning' pot for cooking and have not had any health issues as a result. I feel confident that the boiling process takes care of any residue, once you have washed the pot. I'm sure someone else will be along to offer some more insight. Hope this helps ;-)

    SIC0 sir let's see-

    1. Shouldn't be any danger in the steam coming up. If there is any juice left in the cartos, some nicotine is probably being released into the air, but it would be a minute amount. Remember a lot of plants that we consume contains nicotine. Just because you don't think your family knew you smoked, doesn't mean they didn't.... :)

2- Clean it as much you feel you need to, but again don't think you need to go overboard....

Put it to you this way sir, I vape constantly around my wife and at work. None of my co-workers smoke same goes with my wife. Second hand vape hasn't caused them any ill effects (save for the flavors my wife can't stand the after smell on) or turned them into nicotine addicts. Understand your worry, but..... :)

Hmmm....boiling cartos, always reminds me of the video by Nilest. He wears gloves to boil cartos because he is afraid of touching any e-juice which oddly enough he vapes into his lungs all day long.....interesting and ridiculous.

Just curious, why do you boil cartos SIC? There are other less involved and equally effective methods that won't have you baby sitting a boiling pot for 15-30 minutes. I guess if I had 50-100 cartos to clean pot boiling might be an option, but if I only had a dozen or less and only use 3-4 different juice flavors I would opt for another method.

Do you boil because so far it is the only method for cleaning you have seen?

I played around with a 42K cycle ultrasonic for Cartomizers and it didn't get the atomizer any cleaner then just soaking them in vodka and flushing them out with a baster. Although it does work very well for attys although in most cases they still a needed a dry burn.

To test this I used 6 Classic Caramel Mocha Frappe cartomizers I had vaped and topped off for a couple of weeks. I rinsed them under hot water, shook them out and placed all of them in a glass of vodka for an hour. I took half and flushed them out with hot water in a baster, the other half I ran in the ultrasonic with hot water for 6 3-minute cycles.

After drying I cut all the cartomizers in half to check the atomizer wire, they were identical. There was no notable difference between the 2 methods. I should look around, I did this close to a year ago and I'm pretty sure I video taped it.

I actually have to do an updated video for cleaning cartos since I no longer use the Taryn Spin Method for drying. Although it does speed up drying time as opposed to air drying. It still leaves the polyfill damp and may require that the Cartos sit out mouth piece down overnight on a paper towel.

Let us know how it goes SIC!

I do this : vape em 4-5 times and throw em out when they make my juice taste yucky .:)

Ditto. I vape & refill a carto until it either starts to (a) taste funky or (b) provide an unpleasantly stiff/thin draw, then I toss it!

    (I'm a carto-cleaning failure. Don't know why, I just am.)
