How long do you boil the cartos?
If the question is for me, here's what I do. I don't actually boil the cartos. I boil the water. Once you get a hard boil, I turn off the burner, then put the cartos in. Let it soak there, stirring occassionally, until the water is "cool" enough so I can pick each carto up and blow
through all of them at least once, then put them back in. Once the water is much cooler, I do the same thing - blow
through them. But this time around, I put them in a container of vodka. Soak it overnight, to make sure I get most of the "old"
juice out and other "gunk". The next day, I blow them out again, then stand it up (mouthside up) in a dry container. Keep them there for a few days until I'm ready to refill (syringe). addenda - you can double soak with vodka, just like the boiled water, if needed.
