Hello,
I recently started on vaping and have a few questions. I currently have a Volt. I started with all the sample packs to find a flavor I liked. I decided on the Cappuccino flavor since I loved it so I bought a 5 pack along with refill liquid. However, that 5 pack and the liquid did not give me anywhere close to the flavor I had experienced in the sample pack. I thought it might be a bad carto or two but when all 5 gave me a meh flavor (barely taste it and sometimes had a harsh taste) I figured it might be something with the flavor.

So I ordered some blanks and some liquid from BlueMist. I tried the Coffee'n'Cream and the first time it was great. But later when I kept refilling it the flavor died down again...I couldn't taste it as much.
I then tried the Cafe Caramel. The first time filling the carto with it, it tasted amazing...so much flavor and vapor and the throat hit was great. I loved it. However, after I kept refilling it, the flavor again died down. I had somewhat of a smoky and even sometimes slightly harsh, stingy taste. I figured I might have burned the carto. So I got a new carto and filled it just like the first time...but I get no where near the flavor of the first time I vaped it.

My question is...am I burning the cartos or am I losing the taste for the flavors that fast? I can still taste it...but no where near the first time. No real throat hit..not as much vapor...and not nearly the flavor.

Not sure if I am doing something wrong...or burning the cartos...or what could be causing it. I know they say to not let the flavor die and to add drops in between (I usually try to fill using the condom method) and I do. But when the flavor isn't great on a new filled carto I'm not sure what I can do.

I've been buying the blank Volt cartos. I used both the condom method (especially when I just take out a new blank carto) and sometimes throw a few drops in after I can taste a bit less of the flavor.

The first time I tried the flavor I had an amazing vapor quantity, throat hit, and flavor. After that it got worse and worse. I was using the carto for about 2 days but after the first night it was already losing flavor. I usually refill it when I can see it dry on the top (put a few drops in) or sometime just use the condom method to have it soak up.

The other thing I have noticed is that right after refilling a carto the flavor is especially bad until vaping a few times when it finally comes around. Barely any vapor and no flavor other than a harsh smoky one. Not sure if that's just because it was refilled or if I'm doing something wrong there.

Always keep your cartos wet, not to wet, but wet. I have gotten a burnt taste from a few of my earlier cartos when I first started. gave them a bath in vinegar for an hour or so, then water for some hours, then rinsed VERY and let dry very well. I have not lost a single carto since i started vaping other than a few where the filler 'collapsed' causing a stiff draw.

Also very important, make sure you get the correct cartos (ohm wise) for your device (e-cig).

I do always try to keep them wet...adding a few drops when I can see it somewhat dry or can taste that it is losing even more flavor. I have read that cartos should only be reused for a week so I've been following that advice. Haven't thought about cleaning out and reusing the cartos. Also if I do singe them I thought that would never go away no matter how I cleaned them and so I just throw them out.

The odd thing is...a brand new carto filled up with the new cafe caramel flavor gave me amazing taste, vapor, throat hit. When filling another new carto with the same flavor...I had no where near the same experience.

or somehow losing my taste for the flavor?

One quick way to find out for sure, change to a different carto with a different flavor for a day then go back to the Cafe Caramel and see if it's your taste buds. I have a few favorite vapes and when this happens I go to another flavor for a while and when I come back it's like "WOW" all over again.

Sorry to bump up this older thread of mine but I have been trying lots of combos to see what is going on with the flavor. I did what you suggested and used a different flavor...but the cafe caramel still gives me nothing close to what I got the first time I tried it. Also...it doesn't seem to give any throat hit, I can barely feel it at all...and have to double check if the battery is actually working. I still see some vapor but nothing good. Could that be because the carto is burned out?

I'm having the same problem, gen. I filled up my Boge LR cartos two days ago via the condom method and I put several drops in - enough to make the polyfill look like a slushie. Today I started noticing the flavor dying down. My first thought was that maybe my battery (I use a KGO 1100 mAh) wasn't charged up enough, so I switched to my fully-charged spare battery. That seemed to help for a few hours. But just now I noticed the same thing - muted flavor and more difficulty to draw. My conclusion is that I've just been vaping heavily enough to cause some build-up in the cartos and that it's time to clean them. But I've also heard that you should be able to use them for a week before cleaning. So I'm just as lost as you. :(
