Cartos getting HOT while vaping??

This is my first experience with filling blank cartos. They are BOGE blanks from electronic ash.com. I'm using a generic manual 808. I read a bunch of threads and watched a few videos to learn how to fill them, syringe method, Taryn spin and all. My problems are 1. they get wicked hot after a few pulls and 2. they only last about a half hour total.

I'm wondering if these cartos are duds, being I have refilled a few pre-filled cartos without this problem using the same battery.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Can you measure their resistance with a multimeter ?

Have you tried to put a drip tip on the end ?

Cartos do get hot with use. Heat is normal. If they don't have a burned taste when you vape them then I would suggest using a drip tip just to keep your lips off of them.
Now, if you want a carto that doesn't get as hot then you're going to need to get a carto with a higher resistance than what you have now.

Cartos like attys can get hot if you puff back to back on them, keep in mind too you can only fill them with about 1ml of juice, if you chain vape them it will not last long. I am not sure why it only lasts you half an hour, the only thng I can think of is that they are not completely full.

I don't have a multimeter yet. I hadn't even thought about dripping since to me that seems more complicated than using cartos. I've only been vaping for about a month.

And you know what I found out also, the bigger the batts, the hotter the juice........Duh, it took me awhile but I figured it out!

Welcome , but other than using a drip tip on those "hot" carto's , you might also let them cool down a bit between toots . Sounds like you might be hitting them pretty hard . I use some 808's and they rarely get real hot . But like said , try ordering some SR carto's , they should run a little cooler .

A carto getting warm is normal. Getting hot is normally one of two things: overuse or underfilling.

Cartos should NOT get too hot and they should last longer than 1/2 hour. The site doesn't state the resistance of the cartos in question; is it possible that they are LR? If you don't have a multimeter, ask the vendor about the resistance. Boge makes SR and LR cartos.

Your battery is a standard kr808 with a slightly larger capacity than a mini, but the voltage is the same--3.7v working voltage, 4.2v fresh off the charger, so battery is not an issue here. If you are sure that your cartos are filled properly (but not overfilled), then there must be something wrong with their Ohm rating. Do you see anything on the box that might indicate their resistance? I know from experience that 2.0Ω (or less) kr808 cartomizers will burn rather quickly on kr808 batteries.

BTW, what do you mean by "they only last 1/2 hour"? Do you mean that they need to be refilled? If so, then it's OK; cartos need to be refilled often, especially when they are LR. If you mean that they burn, that's a different matter altogether.

The capacity of a battery (mAh rating) has nothing to do with its voltage.

I don't know how thick your e-liquid is but if you're using a high VG content juice you might be vaping it faster than it's able to get to the coil. If that's the case you might thin in with a few drops of distilled water. And ditto the other comments... lots of good ideas there. Good luck & happy vaping!

WOW i am so confused with the carto thing too....thanks for asking this question. I too have had some get hot when i use them. I vape a VOLT and have used there carto's till recently i bought some from V4L which get hot. The ones from smokelessimage do not get hot. I had no ideal there different type like u, I have only been doing this for a month or so..this site is great wealth of knowledge but can be confusing too.

What method have you used to fill them? Also, how much are you putting in them? I take the cap off end and tilt it at a 45 degree angle and drip around 20 drops (3 or 4 drops at a time allowing the polyfill to soak it up and keeping it mess-free). I usually get an hour or 2 out of each carto, depending on how often I'm vaping. As for it getting hot, as others have stated, that will happen with cartomizers. If mine starts to get hot, I'll put that one aside for a bit and use another one, and so on and so forth. Hope that helps a little, and sorry if I'm being redundant of other replies.

V4L sells two kinds of cartos (also made by Boge); the CoolCarts (~3.2Ω or so) and the WOW carts (~2.3Ω), if I remember correctly--they have tweaked them several times, so I'm not sure what the end result is. The WOW carts are considered LR and they tend to overheat and burn if not not kept very wet at all times.

Volt (and Bloog, V6 etc) are somewhere around 2.8Ω, and that is considered standard resistance (SR).

Boge cartos have 1 ml (or 25 drops, circa) capacity. In my experience, 20 drops is not quite enough on the first fill, but of course that depends on the size of your dropper. Try putting 25 drops and and see if that works better...

I've been getting so frustrated with all of the filling, topping off, leaking and rotating the cartos, I went ahead and ordered an Ego-T. I'm hoping that will be more user-friendly.

The website I bought the 808 cartos from didn't specify LR or SR, but I'm going to assume these are LR. It takes only 3 good pulls on them to make them so hot I can't even touch them. This tends to happen more on my extra long manual battery.

I use a drip tip because for one it is easier to remove when you want to add a few drops to your carto . I would rather add drops more often that deal with the mess by trying to get it absolutely full each time .
