Vaporphoenix has really cheap tanks if you're on a budget; They're decent for the money. I prefer DCT cartos myself, but I can't complain for the price. 510 SCT-V2 3.5ml Tank

This looks like a good tank and deal. The tubes appear to be frosted, so they likely are polypropylene. And I personally believe a single coil carto is preferable for an eGo battery.

Nice find! :thumb:

Lots of great info, thanks everyone.

Any experience with the vendor Vaporbeast? They have what looks like a good entry point and free shipping.

The Boge F17 with 5 cartos and the slim eGo cone is just under $20 shipped.

EDIT: The vendor replied that they are polycarbonate. Good to know.

I order from VaporBeast all the time. Excellent vendor! I have the Boge F16 (polycarbonate) that I use daily and heavily. But then, I don't vape citrus, cinnamon or banana! No problems with the F16...which are 6ml...so I'm sure the 3ml size is fine. I also get "shorty" polypropylene tanks that use 35mm cartomizers there. Another excellent tank that will take any juice safely. They hold about 4ml. give or take, and are designed "fat" or 19mm, unlike the skinny 3.5ml. DCT Smok tanks. I really love them, too. Most of those type tanks come with dual coils, but I prefer single coil so just replace the cartomizers that come with, and everything works out well.

VaporBeast has a pretty good deal with Boge single coil cartos if you buy in bulk. (3 boxes or more).

Thank you Baditude... my 1st tank (an IBTanked tank), just filled for the first time, on the Provari Mini. And, as they say, 'vaping like a champ' :)

The carto is supposed to peek a bit when the base is flush, yes? Anyway - supremely happy. No leaks, and tons o' fun!

I received two of the 510 SCT V2 3.5mL polypropylene cartotanks from Vapor Phoenix today. In a word, they are great.

I have not yet done a side by side with my CE4 clearomizers, but I do have the following notes (using on stock KGO batteries which are about 3.9 volts no load and fully charged).

1. Resistance of the cartomizer measured at 2.8 Ohms vs. ~2.1 of my CE4's.
2. Vapor production is much greater. Clouds of vapor. These can handle more frequent pulls without dryer hits or burning tastes. The wicking seems much greater.
3. Flavor is comparable. I was not blown away, but it is as least as good if not better than my clearomizers. I was just using a 7 Leaves flavor DIY juice 50:50 pg:vg with a little menthol so I haven't tried it on other juices.
4. Filling the tank is definitely not as convenient as a clearomizer. You need to pay attention to a few things vs. just removing the mouthpiece and filling it up, else you will definitely spill ejuice. I think one of those tank tools that pbusardo reviewed would help a whole lot.

At $6 for a complete unit, I think these are excellent for seeing if a cartotank is right for you. They look good on an ego/kgo battery (get the slim cone), they hold a lot of juice, and the flavor is excellent. No leaks, and the PP tank is safe for your citrus and cinnamon juices.

I'm definitely enjoying these, and I'd certainly recommend them to someone wanting to give cartotanks a try.

I am just now trying out the F16, so far I like it! I always did like the cartos, just didn't like filling them all the time. :)

Cool! Have two of them coming. I also spoke to Adam, the owner, to find out what size cartos the tanks use (It wasn't in the product details, nor in the description of the replacement cartos, but he may have fixed it by now). He's quite nice guy. The cartos are 45mm, so I can use the XL Single Coil Smoktech flanged ones I use for my IBTanked.

I could also use some help on cartotanks. I am totally ready and willing to get a Boge F16, the low resistance F16 carts sound great. I will be putting this cartotank on ego-T battery, and don't want a top heavy, lollipop looking device - I would prefer to have the slimmer F17 for aesthetic reasons only. F17 or F16, can I use other brands of cartos? Do I have to use tank replacement cartos with a flange at the bottom, or can I go flangeless?

Most importantly, what material is F17 tank made from? I have seen 2 different kinds in pics, clear and translucent.

Yes you can use other brands of cartos. Flange is also not a necessity, they provide a bit of added secrurity to some but you most definitely get by without it.

As to the tank filling tool, I highly recommend it or a slim drip tip the same diameter as your carto.

If you put the tip or the filling tip on your carto BEFORE inserting it into your tank, you'll save a TON of wear and tear on the o-rings. Simply inserting the carto directly into the tank without either WILL cause one or both o-rings to fail over time as the sharp edges of the stainless steel cartos shave off a tiny amount of rubber from the o-rings.

Thanks for the advice on needing a flange, I assumed as much. Seems like a flange is there to keep the tank from being accidentally pushed down too far, which would be hard to do with a battery under it that is wider than the carto. Also, thanks for the advice on putting a driptip on the carto before inserting it into the tank, I could have found that out the hard way. I'm glad I held on to the cheapo delrin tip that I upgraded from, it should work well for that.

In regard to F16 replacement cartos, the official Boge F16 cartos are 1.6 ohm (+/- .4) single coil, with 2 small holes according to my favorite vendor. Seems a bit low for a 4.2v max passthrough, but I haven't gone that low so I don't know. I won't be saving much by buying unpunched, no flange cartos. The advantage for me of using other brands would be having a choice of resistance and hole sizes to get the pull I want, depending on juice thickness. Wow, that sounded kinda dirty.

I'm using a couple SMK 510 DCT cart's on my eGo 650mah batts and they work great! No issues yet of them spilling or leaking. I store them upright and take care of them :D.

Dale

That's nice. What resistance carts are they? I assume you like the flavor, TH, etc. Also, what's your PG/VG ratio?

The carto tank i used really muted the flavour so I went with a vivi nova tank (wicks instead of carto) and the flavour is great.

I have the same issue. I got a 510 carto/tank and filled and primed it and loaded it onto a Vamo. I'm up to about 10 watts before I get flavor and it's muted. Below 10 watts I get plenty of vapor but little to no taste, above 10 watts and I start getting a burned taste. This same juice in a Vivi or stardust style clearo I get great flavor at around 6 watts. I'm wondering if it's me or the juice of the carto.

Obviously there is going to be a difference between the flavor from a carto and a clearo. I don't understand how a carto tank could taste any different from a carto. I thought the tank part was just a reservoir for fluid. I like Boge cartos just fine, F17 should arrive today, will post my results later.
