Cartridge or Cartomizer?

I have just ordered some attys having been using just cartos for the last few weeks. I am convinced that they leak more than the regular atty/cart combination and they break very easily if you have one in your coat pocket and sit on it!

I may go back to cartos again at some point when I get sick of attys for some reason yet to come.

Viva la Change!

having used both i much prefer cartomizers. i found carts to be an inconsistant mess and a pain to transport.

a pack of 5 cartomizers is like $7. even if you used a pack a week it's still far, far cheaper than cigarettes.

I go through at least two cartomizers a day. It mat be the ones I buy (Smoke Stik) does not hold as much juice, but I think cartomizers are expensive. I am planning on starting to refill.

When I am at work or "going to town", I prefer the 510 mega attys/carts. They never leak with the Fluval filler and hold 16-22 drops of e-juice which last me for an hour or so with constant vaping. I carry a 3ml dropper bottle of juice to top them off and I can vape quite happily for 6 hours at work.

I continue to fiddle with the cartomizers. They are fine for having a different flavor in each AND I do find they can leak a bit when stored...laying down or standing up. I also have a challenge figuring out when they actually need to be filled again. It's a bit of a mess when I try to fill them and they don't need much. They are a good vape though.

By the way, I have actually only thrown away 3 attys from the time I started over a year ago.

The correct juice is your next challenge...get sample packs and try them all.

May you have great success on your vaping journey. Glad you found ECF and posted your questions.

SuZamme,

Did the 510 cartridges you bought come with the Fluval filler? The best price I've found for new empty cartridges is strictlyejuice but they don't say what the filler is. I remember reading good things about Fluval filler. Can you point me to a site that has empty 510 cartridges with Fluval filler?

Yes...juice. The one thing I've kept out of the decision making process is the PG/VG thing. I've read the pros and cons of both. The nice thing about Backwoods Blends is that all of their liquids are 70/30 PG/NG so I don't have to make a decision. I'm going to order their Virginia and some others, maybe Maxboro and Hunters Blend. They are out of their RY4 which I've read good things about. Unfortunately they don't have sampler packs.

Strictlyejuice has a nice 5 bottle 3ml sampler pack which I'm going to order. They also have Ruyan 4. Is this the same thing as RY4?

I also read good things about freedomusa Purecig and Desert Ship. Purecig only comes in a 50/50 blend but with Desert Ship I can oder a wide variety of VG/PG ratios. I guess I would pick either a 50/50 blend or a 70/30 blend of PG to VG like the blend used by BWB.

Liberty-flights is nice because you can order 5ml bottles for 2.99 . You either choose 100% VG or 100% PG. So I will get some of both so I can see the difference between a pure VG and a pure PG. I can make my own sampler pack there. Like most beginners I'm thinking mainly tobacco flavors but I should pick up a non-tobacco there. Any liberty-flights recommendations either tobacco or non-tobacco?

Anyway just thinking out loud.

My 510 starter kit shipped this morning.

Thanks,

otrpu,

I'm just now reading some threads about the C-E2 R4 XL 510 cartomizers. I see the Royal Smokers brand at madvapes. They come in either a 2.4 to 2.6 ohm package or a 2.8 to 3.0 ohm package. Would one work better than the other on a 510? From what I've read they do not use any filler but can be a little hard to fill. Do you use PG or VG with these? These are a little larger than a regular 510 cartomizer?

Cartomisers are good if you want to try out different ejuices flavours without having to change attys all the time, for example, you want to try coffee, but have been using mint in your cart/atty combo. If you simply change carts, the taste of the mint will still linger through the atty. Switching to a cartomiser allows you to have various flavours at your disposal. When you find your favourites, you can use them with the cart/ atty combo as this does last a lot longer than a cartomiser, considering a cart can be refilled, but a cartomiser loses life quicker.

i've had good success with refilling the premium cartomizers from litecigusa.net. i have yet to have one burn or go bad on me.

i got on a prefilled kick but the amount i go through isn't cost effective. i got some more blanks and juice today to save money.

I ordered the 2.8 - 3.0 and they are working well for me on regular 510 batteries, a 3.7v passthru, and my Ego. They do not work well on my 5v passthru, as I forget and hold the button a bit too long and get the vapor too hot. This is especially bad on some of my tobacco juices like MLB, which has a little bitter after taste anyway (just like real tab does). Get that stuff too hot and it's juck city. The c2s I got measure 2.8 ohm. When I'm using one on my reg 510 battery, I try to remember to hit the button on the way to my mouth, preheating a little for that first vape after it's been sitting for a few minutes.

If you're going to fill them just remember to take the end off your syringe, pull the juice in, put the end back on, they fill. Lots of folks say it's dang near impossible to pull heavy VG into the syringe with the tip on, but once in there it comes out ok. I don't use a syringe as I pull both plugs, just drip in down the sides, then pop on a drip tip and go to town. lol.

I think these c2s will prove very durable. If you look at this vid you can see that the nichrome is pretty tough suff. By the way I DO NOT recommend this was of cleaning--I consider it overkill. Just use alcohol or better yet, H2O2, let every thing dry completely, then a couple of six second burns and go. IMO this is well worth watching from 2:00 to 2:15 if you don't want to watch the whole thing. Just pull the indicator out to about 2:00 and let it load and play a little. mindy81,

Good idea. I'm ordering extra empty cartomizers to fill with the sample liquids I'm ordering.

If you are using a 510 device, Puresmoker has the standard blank cartomizers for the bargain basement price of .89 ea. Perfect for trying new flavors and having a dedicated carto for each. Just got my order in Saturday; they are good, just not in the same class as the Bogue soft-tips. But for the price......

Miller325,
The Fluval filler you can get from any pet store that sells stuff for fish aquariums. It's cheap and a box will last you almost forever because you peel it apart and use a "slab" that is only the thickness of a cart. If you get some, PM me and I will give you my triangle size piece details.

None of the cart I have ever seen come with this. They do have a poly filler that will work for a few days, you can wash it out and dry it, and then eventually you will want to change it out completely when you get your Fluval.

As far as juice goes, check out the ECF classifieds and you can get a huge variety of juice to try from different suppliers. I think someone has like 151 different little sample bottles for sale right now.
I found the listing for you:

You're right about wanting the tobacco flavors to start...that will last about 2 days until you get it that you can vape ANY flavor you favor. Hurrah!!!!

I don't agree with you. I think changing a carto is so much easier; just screw it in and you're done. Since the carto has it's own atty built in, there is no residual taste from your last carto; unlike using a cart which leaves liquid on the atty in which case you'll taste your last juice mixed in with the flavor cart you've just put on. To avoid that I guess you can drip a few drops of VG onto your atty to remove any of the previous taste.
