Actually, what DID come out was the lying from pro ban. The "poll" that they used presented
three questions..1. Should smoking be allowed everywhere? 2. Should smoking be allowed some places? 3. Should smoking not be allowed anywhere? When you totaled the first TWO questions, they were 53%. This is how they skew the numbers, kids. This is the standard operating procedure of pro ban. Drug company funding of pro ban was also exposed. In fact, the same drug company paid for the poll. Grants went to Community Health Foundation, then were diverted to Univ of Ga Polling Group. Breathe Easy Macon got their grants separately. Too bad the paper doesn't have the time to do an investigative report of this. It is quite an amazing marketing scheme! And all designed to sell nicotine replacement from Johnson and Johnson pharma!
I will support the banning of the licensing to sell
tobacco products and NOTHING else. Then we will see who the real hypocrites are! THe State does not want people to stop buying
tobacco, and the Cancer Society and Heart and Lung Associations darn sure don't. It would completely end their hundreds of millions of dollars in grant funding from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation!
I found it interesting that the Rabbi was pro ban, until I researched Jewish organizations who received grants from RWJF. And voila, there it was. Over $5 million to the National Jewish Hospital Association.
Those people on the Council should have recused themselves from voting as they belong to organizations who have received these grants. They did not.
