I don't agree with the young Antz there. If vaping becomes legal in places where smoking is not, it would constitute a tremendous, irresistible incentive for smokers to switch.

If the purpose is to have smokers quit cigarettes (and not just opressing them), this would be a very effective and painless method.

Is there a button that likes all of your posts? :p

I do agree. Hes great. I am from Toronto so I am very familiar with him. Unfortunately though, he now owns a huge e-cigarette company and that tends to take some of his validity away, at least in as so far as his detractors are concerned.
They arent sure if his pro vaping stance is legimitate or is he protecting his business.

So as great as he is, I would prefer to see a heart surgeon, or the like, come forth with Pro Vaping messages that couldnt be attacked. As long as Doc Gopal is in this business, there will always be those that doubt his authenticity :(

My understanding, if correct is that hes not only a highly thought of heart surgeon but president i believe, as well, of Trillium which is our governments Drug benefit program.

Trillium Drug Program - Public Information - MOHLTC

One thing I DONT like about him is that he often runs these deals out of his set of stores whereby you can come by and drop off a pack of analogue cigarettes, no matter how many or how few are in the package and you will get a free e-cigarette for the trade.

But they give you those look alike electric cigarettes which in my opinon are useless. The green turns red or green when you puff on them but NO ONE could possibly quit using them lol

After giving a set away, many then lay out money for juice that works for those horrid cigarettes, naturally making more money on the juice I suspect than on the horrid type d-cigarettes themselves in the long run.

This is why people are supiscious of his motives.

I've tried to weight that in too. However he is not desperately stuck in a conflict of interest like the ANTZ are. As a cardiac surgeon he can close tomorrow his "conflict of interest business" and continue to make a very good living from his primary medical job. Now let's have a look at Mr. Glantz. If we close shop on the "tobacco control" business, he's out of a job and pretty much unemployable. Few would hire a mechanical engineer who hasn't practiced for decades. And he's rather old for McDo. Maybe Home Depot greeter or something......

Cant argue with that.
I dont personally have an issue with what he owns.
But I just hope that one day more doctors, surgeons and the like will speak out for e-cigarettes who arent tainted at all by the businessess they own in the field.
Thats all but yes I get your point which is a good one about making a very good living from his primary medical job. Without a doubt hes legit in that sense.

I just feel we need to find someone that cant be tainted by the anti-Vape community at all.
Id like to see Doc Ghopal to work his influence to get other heart surgeons and/or lung specialists, Oncologists, etc; who dont have any connection to his company coming forth to validate e-cigs.

I just believe we need medical men that cant be sullied and are squeaky clean for lack of a better analogy with regards to their business interests when Lobbying those who are lobbying for negative changes... JUst my $0.02 as I am not one of the ones speaking against him. Far from it but I am aware of the weak spots in his lobbying and just wish we had a few more than were hazmat proof! :)
