CDC Commercial mentioning ecigs

Caught a commercial but was a little busy with something so wasn't paying close attention until i heard ecigs, basically a woman talking about quitting smoking and then mentions she even tried ecigs and still smoked regular cigarettes and says nothing works. I searched youtube and found the commercial, kinda surprised me as the first of these types of commercials that actually mention ecigs.

What is sad is that studies have found that those who make ads know that most people dont really watch and listen, ads are sort of taken in subconsciously.

So they figure most will hear, I smoked, felt bad, tried E-cigs, lung cancer.... SO what people end up is with a message in their mind that says smoking/ ecigs= same. Got lung cancer ...

WE know they are not the same thing, WE know nic is as harmless/harmful as coffee/ chocolate/ tea (caffiene)
But the ad equates smoking/ ecigs/ cancer...

One more thing, and I know this is sort of a touchy subject, but people throughout the centuries have been smoking. WHen someone for what ever reason starts to think about smoking they need to know there is a better choice.

We have to stop preaching the DONT vape if you have never smoked. WE did not have a choice so we smoked. If a young person decides they want to do "something" they should feel they can choose e-cigs without being chastised.

So vaping is only for those who earned it by being stupid and smoking even though for at least 40 years the antis-smoking campaigns have been bombarding us with black lungs at schools, with TV ads of people with tubes in their throat, with putting characters in movies and films that portray smokers as "low" or "bad" or weak?

My daughter asked for her first vaporizer for her 18th birthday. She wasn't a smoker, but her older brother, boyfriend, and close friends were. She felt out of place as they all hung out smoking, and she was feeling the peer pressure to join them. She came up with the idea to vape instead, as she had tried my vaporizers at home. I recalled that it was peer pressure which got me to begin smoking at that age. I got her a beginner's vaporizer setup for her birthday with 0 nicotine flavored e-liquid.

It worked. She vapes recreationally. Her brother now vapes (he was never interested when I suggested he try). Her boyfriend sometimes vapes, and sometimes smokes still. A couple of her friends stopped smoking via vaping. Now my 18 year old nephew (also a nonsmoker) is vaping recreationally, and has gotten his mother and sister (also smokers) starting to vape.

Commercial actually does not say - Don't use e-cigs
It says Stop Smoking, even cutting down is no guarantee. Then again, for long time smokers Quitting completely is not a guarantee.

However, quitting by whatever means works, for YOU, improves your chances at a longer healthier life.

some people just cant do it.... most can... one needs to look at the percentages of those who quit smoking via vaping...

some people have their lives ended via car accidents but yet millions still drive...
so lets use the same advertizing tactics ....
People die from using cars... quit using your car and walk... just stay out of the street...

Gotta agree with you here. If there wasn't already a whole new generation out there waiting to get (or already are) addicted to analogs it just makes me sick.

Especially when you look at the fact that it is highly unlikely new vapers will get addicted, whereas analog smokers are in for a long, expensive, unhealthy mistake.

I agree in all points... But I was trying to say that most people dont see or hear those points. Most people will not get the difference between lung cancer and lung collapse. Collapse could be from so many reasons of which smoking might have had nothing to do with it. I ve known many who never smoke with lung issues, COPD, lung cancer even.

Not to get argumentative but the point was that in the average person minds' : smoke bad=cigarettes bad, vapor looks cloudy=smoke ? Vaping bad....

My family lately has been all in a huff over vaping, even though Ive been doing it for 4 years. THey keep watching stupid "news" shows like the chew, the talk, and other stupid shows that are all full of false info and gear to fear mongering and " the children" and the "mommies"

Has anyone seen all the new "hard Sodas"? , ginger ales, etc. They look like soda bottles, in all sort of fruity flavors, but no one freaks out and starts to get in a huff over children being targeted?

I see that commercial a lot. What got my attention today was a friend said he saw one if those lawyer commercials for e-cig injuries. Haven't seen that one yet.
