Ce2-R4 Ceramic Carto issues and frustration

Hi, I just got my new Ce2's. I am frustrated however. Here are the stats: Royal Smokers Ce2-R4for 808 XL 5v PT Various Juices I filled the carto...the XL take about 1.5ml. Started vaping. After about 5 vapes on PT start to get a chemical, acrid taste that burns the throat (like when a regular carto becomes dry). I go to fill the carto again but it still has juice in it and is still producing vapor. Those first 5 hits are amazing, but I'm frustrated with the filling/acrid taste. If I slow down between hits, it does get a little better and I can get about 8 good hits if I wait about 1-2 minutes between hits. I did a dry burn on one first and it didn't improve over the non dry burn one. Anyone experience this? HELP?

how exactly did u perform the dry burn?

have u checked out the threads pertaining to the the e2? there are alot of us who have experienced this taste, lack of wicking etc,,, all of the problems are outlined in this thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...kers-c-e2-r4-review-tips-info-help-video.html seacrh for e2 cartomizer and you will find plenty of info, mods, videos on this carto...after u get past this you will see that that e2 is by far the best IMO cartomizer that is on the market right now....

edit.. didt the coild burn bright orange? did all the smoke stop? did u rinse first?

The dry burn was 10 seconds twice. No I didn't rinse first. Rinse in hot water? I didn't look at the coil. Will do right now. Also will check the thread out! Thank you. I was impressed by the flavor in the good hits. it was amazing!

Where did you get your carts?

I got 2.5ohms and am starting to think that was a big mistake. Dry burned all 5. I'm using a m602c batt, which is not manual so I end up having to blow at it till I'm blue.

I've tried different juices and get this crap build up on the coil.
I cleaned it off following main thread advice, but it builds up after I fill the cart once.

By the second cleaning I'm tasting more vinegar/ acrid than juice.

Any ideas?

the op is using them at 5volts, thats gonna be a little to high, you need the 3.2 ohm for that to be sure.

many people are still recieving e2r4's with stuff on the wick even though its dry and there seems to be a fluid in the e2 by the inner plug which is most likely used to insert the plugs easily, I was told this has been looked into but I would suggest until that happens you should pull out the wick on both sides and burn them, if they spark and pop then burn off whatever is on the wick and the give them a little dry burn and burn off anything there as well, then a quick wash in the sick, flick out any excess water, dry burn quiclky and fill and vape.

if this doesnt help then your using a to low of a ohm on to high of voltage. these need to be matched for best performance

2.8,2.9,3.0 is great for 3.7 volts. 3.0 ohms will be a little on the cooler side but not as cool since the coil is on top so it always has a warmth to it in a way..

3.0,3.1,3.2 ohms is great at 4.2volts and maybe a tad higher

1st, thanks bad, you guys have done quite a bit with the main thread. Very helpful so far.

I stumbled across something out of frustration. Every time I'd try to tuck the wicks back in, they shred, leaving me with bits to clean off the sides of the carto. What I ended up doing was leaving the wicks up in the upper part of the carto and dripping into them as if this was a regular 808 carto (or in my case m602c).

I've had to use a drip tip, or a hard cap to put on top, as they take less space allowing for the wicks to be less compressed and keep the juice from being squeezed out.

I found that with my vg, 50/50 mix, and 10%alc/vg mix I could fit about 6-8 drops and vape for about 30 minutes without worrying about wicking, gunking up or anything.

You need to top off after that (YMMV) but so far it seems to have solved most of my problems. Massive amounts of vapor, no bottom leakage (or top, but maybe bc my liquids are somewhat thick).

too bad it's my only surviving carto.

Has anyone else had experience with this?

I noticed with my R4's that VG juice can burn fairly easy, just have to be careful not to over fire the atty too much with VG, I have 2.6 Ohm now am getting a higher Ohm carto. I've had to clean mine a couple times in just a few days use because the juice has burned onto the coil/wick. It seems once you find that happy place, you can vape all day with them, no problem.

Thanks for input Bad. I guess I need to not use my PT with these 3.0's? Where do you get higher resistance? Also, I went to watch the "taking apart cartos" video but it had been removed. So far, I have not been able to do anything but remove the top two plugs. Can't figure out how to get the inner "seal" plug off and/or take it apart to expose the wick. Any help here?

To get the bottom ring out I use a blue "Dentist PIK" that I got at the pharmacy. It has a slightly curved, pointy end. I found that paper clips are too soft and bend. If you hook the part of the lowest cap where the groove in the ceramic cup is for the wick, you can pull it out. It is hard to pull out the first time. When you put it back in you have to line the grooves of the cap up with the grooves in the cup (for the wick). I just put it back in upside down then it's easier to work with. I also use the dentist Pik to slightly lift the wick just a smidge where it comes into the cup it seems to get packed into the groove too tightly and then it doesn't wick well. The carto is kind of a pain, but you can't beat the flavor.

My Experience: My first e2's were perfect...I ordered more R-4 and they were not.
I opened (5) and found...All had the Hot Glue at the base...All XL's had filler...ie they
were not R-4's...Royal Smokers "Inventory Reduction" ??
I don't know what to do next...I have 100 of them.
contact them with a picture of the glue, let them know thats not acceptable and you want a replacemtent, they wehre promised glue free and these have glue etc... they will fix your issue

I haven't been really impressed with the CE-2 R4 cartos so far. I've only tried one out of the box. I get good vapor production but the taste is a little hot and it's reminiscent of plastic. Taste is nothing like a 510 or Ego mega cylinder type B atty can produce.

I've removed the cap, the first seal, and the inner seal to look at the slots and the wicking material. I don't have a dental pick but I tried installing the inner seal upside down, then inverting the carto to prime up the wick, and test vaping. Good vapor, same aftertaste. I hope to remove pressure on the wick slots. No go. Then I took out the inner seal again and re-installed it the right way, got the slots in place and inserted the middle seal and the cap. Same taste.

Maybe it's just me getting past the warmth of the vapor that changes the taste. I'll have to drain this one and try another to see if this one has a crusted wick. Maybe I'll try a dry burn to see if that's it.
