Ce2s, 4s, 5s etc

Hey guys and gals - I was watching this youtube vid of how to make a homemade tank - what got me was this person used a butane/torch type lighter to dry burn the CE2 wicks - stating it had or may have stuff on the wicks that needed to be burned off? Am I suppose to be doing this to brand new clearos? Do yall do this? I have mostly used CE2s, 4s and 5s......thanks..

I use CE2's 99% of the Time.

I Always do a 2 or 3 second Dry Burn and a Quick Hot Water Rinse before I use a New CE2.

BTW - No need to Completely Dry a rinsed out CE2. Just shake / blow it out and Fill it up.

I always have used a torch on them new as well as some fluffing of the wick. I also torch the wicks after any cleaning, helps remove weird funky tastes. As a added bonus, I noticed more I torch the wicks after cleaning (meaning more times I use then clean them), better the wicks seem to work! BTW I torch the wick till it glows white a few seconds. =)

Wont really hurt the wicks much, but steer clear of the solder joints. I ruined a few ce5's solder joints not paying attention...easy fix though.

I've never felt a need to do that with the ce2's I've used, it should'nt hurt any though.

Guess I may need to buy one of em torch lighters - also was just wondering about all the silica scare with the vivi novas too - read elsewhere all wicks seems to be made of the same material - any comments on that?
