EXCELLENT REVIEW!!!

This is uncanny. I'm having the exact same experience as you are Cekte. Every criticism you mentioned is "Spot on". I bought from a local guy and have had vapor loss with little use, bad battery, bad atomizer, and batteries not lasting very long. I'm returning it.

It seems the only thing consistant about this ecig is the inconsistantcy. I guess they need to do a major overhaul on this ecig.

Another GREAT reviewer. You should do more. This is one of the best......and I've probably seen most of them on the net.

Thank you very much for the kind compliments Posaune.

It is unfortunate that you seem to be having the same problems. Glad I could at least portray an accurate picture. It almost pained me a bit to do so, because I honestly see how much potential that unit has. It is just not there yet. To be honest, the manufacturer has taken some fairly drastic steps, to insure better QC and a more reliable battery. The coming weeks will tell. Hopefully your next model is to your liking.

Thank you again! I do plan many more ahead. Stay tuned, VaporViews will be continually added upon with new reviews, mods, video tips, and more. Cheers

Thanks, Cekte. And they say you're not supposed to drip directly on to the atomizer with this model. I washed my atomizers to get rid of of the burnt smell, will try again. Maybe the key is to take shorter puffs less frequently - so the atomizer doesn't overheat. In the meantime it's back to the 901.

I still think the 510 has a lot of potential. I plan on sticking with it while they work the bugs out. Great review!

Thanks Shakey! Indeed, with the automatic switched batteries with this model, you cannot drip. The liquid will eventually find its way into the batteries' switch and muck things up. If this does happen leave the battery sit overnight, with a bit of tissue paper in the middle contact. This should remedy the situation, if it arises. That is one of the bright aspects of the manual switch style battery. Those batteries are able to be completely sealed, as there's no need for a draw sensor, if one presses a manual button.

Luckily the flavor in my model seems fairly consistent. Granted when it is running hot enough to cook an omelet it does not taste so great. I really believe this is due to it not being able to wick as quickly as the atomizer is cooking the liquid. According to the manufacturer these atomizers are made to run a bit hotter than normal, However that seems a bit excessive.

All and all, one still cannot really go wrong with a 901. Though there's always something on the horizon of eclipse. But much can be said for, No matter what happens to your experiment, always have a control ;)

I couldn't agree with u more Cekte, you really cannot go wrong with a DSE901. My first smoke was a NJoy NPro, and then I got a DSE901. But I wasn't convinced it was the best, so I got the Pilot M401, DSE801, and now the 510, and you know what I always go back to the DSE901 at the end of the day. Never gives me any problems and provides consistent results. The other ones above may produce more vapor and throat hit, but they are such a pain in the ... to keep good results consistent.

I wonder if there are a lot of people like me out there that are always trying to find something better then their DSE901, thinking this new one will be the one, but so far nothing really is superior at the end of the day.

Hi Cekte,

I was returning my Yeti and the guy I bought from traded me one that he tested and is known to not have any problems. Have had for 5 days now and no problems thus far. Vapor is awesome and nice throat hit. You're right. This could be the next 901 killer if they can fix all of the kinks.

I agree that the 901 is badass in the consistency/reliable dept. I have noticed that the 510 has twice the size of cart as the 901 but am filling it up as often as the 901. Is the reason because the atomizer runs way hotter and drying out the cart just as fast as the 901? Also noticed that the 510 battery is the same size as the 901 and the 510 battery don't last as long as compared to the 901. Probably as well because the 510 sucks a lot more power? What is your experience Cekte.

Also, Only had the replaced new 510 for 5 days now and performing well but worried it will crap out on me in about another week or 2. Was that your experience as well? Did the 510 work great for 2 weeks and drastically go down from there? Cuz I have a 901 that has lasted 2 months so far and no problems and still going strong. FYI, I only smoke about 1 ml a day and the battery lasts (DSE-901) about a day since I'm not a heavy smoker.

What are your thoughts Cekte? Thanks.

I recieved my 2 yeti's on 2/13/09, and have not put them down since. Maybe I got lucky with mine, but I have had very few problems with it. I alternate the atomizers to keep them from getting hot. One atomizer has been replaced, thanks Rob. I still have my 901's, but haven't touched them since getting the yeti (510). The carts do leak slightly, but is not a big issue. Batteries last 2-3 hrs., better than my 901. All the 901 units that I have owned have been poor quality in my opinion. The 901 is one of the most finicky units. I bought the 901 based on reviews that I have read on the forum. I still can't figure out why people think it's the best out there. Some of the 901 atomizers have lasted less than a week. I get tired of writing to suppliers for replacements. I do agree that the 501 could use some improvements as could all e cigs. We are just not there yet, but hopefully the manufacturers will keep improving these things. We are all in Model T's, dreaming of the days of Lincolns, and Mercedes. Most importantly, find a cig you like and don't give up.

As you said, you must have got lucky with the yeti and unlucky with the 901's. Same as I, may have got lucky on the 901's but unlucky with the 510.

I have got 3 901s from puresmoker and they are all great and no problems at all. Maybe you might want to try there. I think Steve gets them from another manufacturer...........not sure about this. Don't quote me on that.

Turns out that after a few days after I wrote the quote above the batteries died on me (again). The guy that I bought them from disected one and seen juice in the battery. This may indicate why there is a battery issue. This makes since because everyday that I used the 510 I would refill my carts with juice more and more frequently. I DON'T drip on the atomizer so there shouldn't be any leaking into the battery with normal unabusive behavior. So there is another design flaw for the 510.

I really wished the this thing was reliable because this thing is way awsome when it does work. Anyway, thought that you guys might want to know if you didn't.

Most surely. I think most are on the quest for the 'perfect' model, according to oneself. Even the 901 can be hit or miss occasionally. The unfortunate truth is QC isnt always the best. But it can get better!

It will always be dependent on a model that gives you personally the most accurate experience or satisfaction reliably. However, it is also more so, being able to purchase said product from a trusted and honorable Supplier. One who has a good guarantee/warrantee policy. Who in case of problems, will honor any issues quickly and hassle free.

Thats great. Glad you're enjoying your 510. While it was working well, I loved it. It excelled the 901 in nearly every area. I would not have thought of using my 901 over it. However it didnt last..

Agreed. They can all be finicky at times. Pretty accurately stated. Though new designs and revisions seem to be coming out every few weeks to a few months. It is evolving rather quickly. They are definitely improving.

I too am on that quest. I still smoke, not as much but I still do. I really want to get off analogs. 901 was cool, but I seemed to keep going through atomizers every 2 weeks, and carts always gave me a burnt tastes so dripping was it for me. Then I got a penstyle. Love the taste, love the vapor, like the throat hit. But the thing is just too big for out in public. So for a few weeks I was using KB at home, and Minifogger out and about. Then got in a 510 to review. Right away I was AMAZED. I mean "for me" it hat the PERFECT throat hit, the perfect flavor, and perfect vapor. Decided This was "the one". One battery was DOA, but no worries. I still have one battery and can order another one. 24 hours later the atomizer dies. Crap. Ok, no worries I have a spare atomizer and a battery. 10 minutes later 2nd atomizer dies. Damn. So now I just have a battery. Had a Janty Dura on the way too. Ok, so the Dura if it has issues has a 6 month warranty. I'll deal with the constant sending back parts if I have to as long as I have a good vape. Well Dura just doesn't seem AS GOOD as the 510. I know it's from same place, and pretty much the same, but just doesnt give the hit/taste/vapor that I seemed to get from 510. So I ordered another 510. 3 days later the other original battery is dead. So now I have one battery and 2 atomizers. So waiting to see how the manual batteries do with both janty Dura and 510. I am HOPING that the dura will work as well as 510 seemed to and stay consistent. Then I can sell the KB and Minifogger and be very happy. The 510 has SOOOOOOOO much potential. I am almost willing to just like buy 100 atomizers and 100 batteries and just switch them every couple weeks. At least I know what I am getting into.

Sounds about par with my experience. According to the manufacturer it is supposed to operate a bit hotter. This is related to its massive vapor production. What I was experiencing temperature wise, was not normal though. I do believe that is why the carts were going so quickly. They initially lasted a bit longer than the 901s. New carts are also in works.

I believe the battery not lasting as long, was due to the other complications and indeed liquid getting in the switch and innards. My battery a bit shy of the first week, lasted a solid 4+ hours of heavy vaping.

Indeed, that sounds about right. I wasnot able to get a replacement at that time, but its performance did drop after the first week-ish, and by week two, it was severe.

As you said, you must have got lucky with the yeti and unlucky with the 901's. Same as I, may have got lucky on the 901's but unlucky with the 510.

I am not sure if this is what you are referring to, but..

Joye Technologies, the manufacturer of the 510, does not make the 901, nor does Puresmoker/Steve carry any Joye products.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck again Posaune. Thank you for the update on your 510s. Also my apologies of the delayed responses. I am actually awaiting a new 'replacement' 510 model. This is from the new productions, and is said to be revised.

I think the reason you were refilling so often was due to the atomizer operating hotter and hotter. That is exactly what was occuring to mine, before it started operating extremely hot to the touch. Perhaps because a bit of condensation was already in the switch/battery

The liquid has been known to be getting into the switches and the insides of the battery. This is an admitted flaw in these batteries at this point. Joye has acknowledge some problems, and has said to have fixed them in this new production run. I truly hope so.

Also I would like to update on my 510 unit. As of mid-day Saturday the 7th, the atomizer ceased to function.

It was operating fairly oddly before it died, even for its previous performance. The switch and atomizer started sticking on later than the usual second after your draw. While it stuck, instead of a possible wisp coming out the cart end, the vapor came out the atomizer/battery holes!! In a plus pattern like the notches on the battery, and more than a wisp! This was surely he hottest Ive ever seen/felt the atomizer get. It seemed even the battery was very hot. It even melted the collar of the cart a bit. Quite interesting..

This happened several times during a fairly short period. When I would unscrew the atomizer from the battery, there would be condensation/moisture all over the inside the threads, and on the connections between the battery and atomizer. As soon as this started happening, I knew it wasn't long.

I let the atomizer and unit cool down, but within a few minutes it would not fire again..

I have even attempted boiling it since, for curiosity sake. This unit is surely dead.. I await and anticipate the new.. ;)

Hi,

First of all, fantastic review Cekte. You went into a lot of detail about the 510 and it's been a great help to see that I wasn't the only one experiencing the issues with this model. I've had the 510 for a few weeks now and I love it, but it really is a constant battle to keep it working well.

I've been through around 7 atomizers now, and I've had various experiences with each one. I've been lucky with the batteries so far, although I think that might have something to do with me disconnecting them from the atomizer after every vaping session. If I'm at home, I also stand them on end to let any juice run out.

One thing I have noticed with the atomizers is that some have developed a very bad taste over time. At first, I thought it was related to the white fibrous material stuffed under the mesh, but lately, I've been feeling that the taste I'm getting at times, is related to the carts heating up when the atomizer gets really hot. I always make sure the carts aren't dry, but after a few inhales, a funny taste appears, and if I pull the cart off straightaway and just inhale directly from the atomizer, the bad taste isn't there. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm just a bit worried that I might be inhaling plastic fumes. It doesn't happen on every atomizer, but it has developed over time on quite a few of them. There doesn't seem to be any damage on the carts, but they are extremely hot when I touch them.

I have been using my yeti for nearly a month now and must say it is working just as good as the day I started with it. I bought 2 kits from rob@altsmoke and have had one atomizer replaced to date. The atomizer worked, but had a very hard draw. The carts do leak a little, but I wipe them off periodically. Battery life is better than my 901 as is throat hit. I gave a 901 to my daughter. I am waiting for new atomizers for her 901. The yeti has been a good cig for me. Any one have info on the new model that's coming out? There is no mention of it on the website. There are currently no parts for it on the website either. A little info would be nice, rob. Maybe I got lucky with my yeti, as it seems everyone has had issues. I store my batts down at night to drain any liquid that may be in them but have never seen anything yet. I store my atomizers down to keep the liquid in the cart. I try to rotate them every other day. So far so good. Anyone else having good luck with the yeti?

hi guys n gals,

i recieved a titan (joye510) a few weeks ago from TECC for the purpose of a review. like you guys, i had all those problems too! the most i could have given it was 5 - 6 out of 10.

however, last week i recieved one of the "new batch" models with the improvements that should cure those problems.

are those problems fixed? well take a look at the review and find out!

myself and my buddy cekte have been discussing the joye510 over the last week or so and i know he is getting one of the improved versions too. so it will be very interesting to see if we experience the same things on the new and "improved" model!

i will look forward to your follow up review mate!

cheers,

First day with Titan, bought from the company that igetcha69 mentioned in his review. The box is just like the igetcha69 showed, so i think it's the new model.

First day impression: Amount of vapor, good battery life, long cartridge life, easy draw.
After some day of use i will post again with my new impressions.

Did anyone know where can i bought a spare charger for the TITAN/JOYE510? And what about a usb charger and even a usb passthrough?

Thx!

Wolff
