Certain liquids (Torque and Tribeca) becoming impossible to vape after awhile. Suggestions?

When I first started using the Triton about 7 months ago, I was using a lot of Tribeca and had no problems. It produced great vapor and worked smoothly. After about a month or so, though, it started to produce very little vapor and leaked through the center post constantly. It was a chore to just get a small amount of vapor and it seemed to heat the coil red hot in no time. The juice would practically be the color of black coffee after half a tank. It was the same experience I had trying to vape 100% VG juice with the Triton. It just became impossible, and I eventually gave up on Tribeca as a lost cause after trying different coils and getting no better results.

A couple months ago I got a 7mL bottle of Torque and loved it instantly, The vapor production and throat hit were great and I loved the flavor. My next order I got another 7mL of it and a 30mL. The new 7mL was the Tribeca nightmare all over again. I was able to get through the bottle and opened the 30 and it's the exact same. For some reason these juices will not vape correctly anymore, and I cannot figure out why. The other three flavors I vape all the time are Malibu, Tiki, and Kringle's Kurse and I have never had a single issue in 7 months with them. They are consistently smooth and produce the desired result every time. Just curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar or has any suggestions as to what might be the problem. I have tried brand new coils and used both 2.2 and 2.6 ohm versions.

I'm using 650 mAh batteries. I've tried freshly charged batteries and multiple tanks with new and old coils and both 2.2 and 2.6 ohms. I'm just stumped as to why it's just these two flavors specifically and after they both worked completely normally in the beginning.
Hi, jsparker.
I'm stumped, too.
I have found Tribeca to gunk a coil faster than other juices. But Torque? I've gone impossibly long times with one coil on Torque. It is the cleanest vaping liquid I have tried.

Malibu does very well, too. Tiki does tend to gunk a coil quicker.

So, let's look at it. You have known good batteries, good tanks, new coils, fresh liquid, and Tribeca and Torque gunk and burn quickly. Yes, I'm stumped.

Try this. Take a new standard 2.2 coil into a known good tank. Fill it with Torque and let it be for 10 or 15 minutes. Take a battery that's half charged, not a freshly charged one. Then do quick 1 or 2 second draws. This "breaks the coil in". If you had a variable volt, I'd tell you to start at the lowest setting. After 6 or 10 hits, you can draw longer if you wish.

Also, the tip from Evie Luv is to continue to draw for a second after releasing the button. This cools the coil, and greatly prolongs it's life.

btw, I like to put a squirt of Torque into a tank of Tribeca. This cuts the sweetness a bit and gives tribeca some tobacco flavor.

I think you are a victim of just bad luck. There are scores of peeps vaping without problems with these 2 superb juices. Give them another go.

And check back, let us know how it's doing.

:)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. The only logical reason I can also come up with is bad luck. I thought maybe there was something markedly different about the composition of those two flavors, but it seems I'm the only one with flavor specific issues like this. My guess is the problem is due to the coils. I have one brand new coil left at the moment and am going to use it to try again with Torque later on. If that doesn't work, I'm just gonna have to chalk it up as not meant to be and continue with the flavors that are consistently working for me.

How often do you clean your coils? I'm also stumped but I can only think of your not cleaning your coils often enough and they are gunking up or possibly, at times, inadvertently chain vape/not letting the coils cool down enough in between vaping and its actually scorching the juice/coils.

If it's the later of the two, may consider upping the nic.

I love Torque, it has been my life saver in not going back to cigarettes, but when I first began vaping all my juices tasted burnt. Finally a friend told me my settings were too high and I was burning my juice. The juice also had a burnt taste if I didn't let it set for a few minutes after replacing the coil. Is there anywhere you can take it and have them help you with your settings?

Halo has a Triton user manual on their website that has a trouble shooting section for the coils. The lack of vapor production and leaking can happen if the coil is too loose, try tightening it and see if that helps. A burnt taste can happen if the coil is overly tightened, and/or if the juice level is allowed to drop down below the 2ml mark.
