I bought my first e-cig to take to my daughter's (her & hubby hated the smell & they preferred I didnt smell like an ashtray around my granddaughter).
I really had no intention of giving up analogs since Id tried to quit before. My attempts always failed and when I went back to smoking, Id smoke more than before.
I bought my first at a local tobacco store and paid an outlandish price. It was the smoke51 and I got extra cartridges. After the first day, I was in awe of the darn thing. I puffed away and had no urge for the real thing.
About two days in, I was shopping and the batteries died on me so I got out an analog---tasted horrible. At that point, I knew that as long as I had my e-cig, I never go back to analogs. And that started my journey to find my favorite model which turned out to be the 901 atty on my wall wart mods and 102 for batteries.
About two years ago, I started using an extra filter on my analogs so I wasnt getting the full effects of the chemicals and tar in the cigarette, but still once I was off them I had issues. The first week, I was horribly grumpy, and I was still kind of that way the second week and my poor daughter and family had to live through that.
When I got home, I was experiencing some pretty bad headaches, but Ive had trouble with migraines off and on during my life so it really didnt send up any red flags. RW, DH, who was a bit more worried about them than me, found ECF and their health thread. Both of us attributed my headaches to withdrawal.
RW (an occasional smoker who used one of my e-cigs on Tuesday when he played pool with his buds) gave up on visiting ECF and I missed being updated by him, so I started coming and became addicted to the place. So much so, Ive ignored the novel Im working on, and other general everyday stuff.
There are days RW is very sorry he ever found the place.
About this time, everyone started calling the e-cig a PV and the headaches continued so I went to see my doctor. Just like Rave, my blood pressure dropped (just not bad enough to put me in the hospital). I said goodbye to a BP med.
Other things Ive noticed other than just generally feeling better and having more energy.
My dog doesnt avoid me when I pick up my PV.
Smell and taste have improved.
I breath better (I no longer use Advair and/or my inhaler).
The heaviness in my chest is gone and so is the rattle.
My sinuses rarely act up and Ive lost the cough.
Just in the last month, when I walk my dog, my legs no longer hurt.
My hearing has improved.
