Chantix or vape? It's a no brainer

I had tried Chantix and welbutrin before vaping. I was never able to make it to the stop smoking part. With my first ego I finished a pack and never looked back.

I tried the Wellbutrin years ago on the recommendation of my shrink. Just my luck, I was one of the few with the paradoxical effects. Mild gentle me became extremely anxious and violent. Horrendous. Stopped it after three weeks. It was so bad that my two best friends (non-smokers) both offered to buy me cigarettes!

Doc put me on Wellbutrin once for anxiety, although I think he just wanted to get me to quit smoking. It's all the dude would ever talk about even though I went in with real problems. Wouldn't help me with any of those, but Anyways... it made me feel like I had spiders crawling on my skin all day. I hated it.

I was on Wellbutrin once, which the doc documented as being for depression due to my insurance at the time. Epic fail. I was on Chantix three different occasions and the last time was the last time for a reason. During that time I found myself very systematically plotting my own demise. Fortunately (maybe), I was at work at the time. A bit later I realised that it was the Chantix messing with my head. (It's a head pill, after all.) Needless to say, I never took it again.

While committing suicide will indeed put a very final end to one's smoking habit, I don't personally recommend it. I couldn't, with a clear conscience, recommend Chantix, either.

Side effects associated with the stop- smoking drug Chantix include mood swings, suicide, hostility, aggression, paranoia, hallucinations, panic and confusion.

Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease! I never met an e-cig that made me want to kill myself.

Not to mention outright psychotic breaks. Which Pfizer prefers you don't mention.

Last time Chantix was suggested to me, my comment was, "Well, suicide is a way to quit smoking."

Yeah I've read some real horror stories. Including the guy who said though he was fully aware the idea was completely nuts, he had a day he could not shake the conviction that his toaster oven had raped him.

Um... and they say vaping isn't safe???

Oof. Yeah. I found myself throwing things at the wall. Just some absolutely out of the blue fit of rage. Fortunately, it wasn't anything breakable.

I have something of a temper as it is. I really needed something that gave me fits of rage. Yeesh!

My clueless GP gave me Zyban 12 years ago to help me quit. Encountered some
of the side effects you've listed as well as constant ringing in the ears (Tinnitus).
No suicidal thoughts, but I came close to clobbering the big mouthed VP I was
reporting to at the time with my keyboard. Didn't stop me from smoking, but turned
my life into a living hell.

If anyone is aware of a class action lawsuit being launched in Canada against
the maker of Zyban/Wellbutrin, I'd be interested in signing up.

HORRIBLE garbage!.

Zyban and Chantix should be banned -> not e-cigs!.

I guess I am always the opposite of most people. Not one single vivid dream while on Chantix. I tried it twice and did quit smoking while taking medication. Soon after stopping it I went back to smoking. I can honestly say I had no side effects from it. But medications do different people different way. But I've tried 5 cholesterol medications and hurt so bad I can barely walk. Go figure. I know people that have been really successful with it. I say whatever works.... it took vaping to make me say "hey, I think I can do this".

I did speak with a women who succesfully quit using Chantix. And she highly recommends it. Different things work for different people. The woman said she had been smoking since age 7. Which kinda blew my mind.
