As stated, methinks I've got an issue with my charger.

I have the Trustfire TR001. I'm using Trustfire 2400mAh batts. I leave the batts in until the light goes green. When I take 'em off, on the meter, it measures 4.5 v.

From what I understand, this is going to affect the life of my battery.

I guess my question is, time for a new charger? Any other risks?

I would discontinue use of that charger since overcharging can be a safety hazard.
Charging Lithium-ion – Battery University
Prolonged charging above 4.30V forms plating of metallic lithium on the anode, while the cathode material becomes an oxidizing agent, loses stability and produces carbon dioxide (CO2). The cell pressure rises, and if charging is allowed to continue the current interrupt device (CID) responsible for cell safety disconnects the current at 1,380kPa (200psi).

Should the pressure rise further, a safety membrane bursts open at 3,450kPa (500psi) and the cell might eventually vent with flame.

After charging my 18650 batteries I often get a read of 4.3 or 4.4, nothing unusual for a high MAH 18650 to read more than 3.7V.

This after 2 days of use after charging.

Thanks.

I've been meaning to get another one (I don't completely trust this one). Guess now I really do have incentive.

You jinked me! Today I started to get high readings. I put a new battery in the multimeter and the readings returned to where they were suppose to be. So check the battery in the MM.

Hope you didn't buy a new one yet.

Well, with the 2 batteries I was consistently reading 4.5. I think I screwed the MM awhile back. But it was reading 4.2. So I paid no attention to it. Now though, the MM was showing 4.5. Didn't matter which battery I used. Fresh off the charger, 4.2

Picked up a UNI-T U52 (I think that's the model #) on sale for $40. Hooked it up and now fresh off it reads 4.15. Close enough.
