sorry for the confusion

Just finished my test. I plugged my X2 back into my 1.5 amp wall charger and nothing changed. Then got to thinking, plugged it into my laptop. Within a few minutes the light went out!. So, do I have a problem with my 1.5 charger?

I've been using it for my 3.6v passthru for a week or too. Could that have somehow damaged the charging feedback circuit? Do I need to contact Customer service or is this just an undocumented side effect of using the 3.6v passthru on the 1.5?

If the 1.5 is supposed to be faster charging, it would be a hassle to plug it into my lap top just to see if its charged. The point here is to be able to unplug it and hit the road.

so light was not coming on when plugged into the wall adapter? did you use it in between plugging it into the computer?

On my test I did not use the X2 while plugged into the wall unit. Yes the blue light was lit as before. After about 1/2 hr. is when I decided to try the lap top. When plugged into the lap top the light went out in just a few minutes. Can't say exactly how long, doing other things. Just as a test, when I removed it from my lap top I plugged it back into the 1.5 and the blue light came back on but is now off??? I guess I will have to start a new test cycle. I'm now thinking the laptop some how tripped the charging notification circuit in the X2/charger. PFM you know! I will let the X2 drain again and see if it acts the same way.:(

Sitting down, facing forward.
This is only a guess, but I would suspect the 1.5 amp chrger has a problem, such as a low voltage output or a current limiting problem. Seeing the LED lit while it's attached does indicate it has some output, but it may not be all the way up to snuff (yet another tobacco term). Since it charged quickly from your laptop it would also seem to indicate that the battery is actually fine. Just my two cents from an electronics point of view, take it for what it's worth.

Thanks,

My thoughts as well, except I didn't have a technical reason, just thought something was wrong in the 1.5. Thats why I'm doing another test cycle to see if it repeats. Ya know, Did I use it, how long was I using it, how long was it on the charger, how long was it on the lap top. etc., etc.

This time I will have all facts recorded!

Edit: "such as a low voltage output or a current limiting problem." may have been caused by using the 3.6v passthru then using the X2. Might have discovered a design issue. Who knows.

it may have just had a loose connection the first time

I think I had a short in the head set. Just finished my second test. Once again, 5 hours and lite still lit. Moved to lap top and after 1 hr., light still lit. Moved it back to the 1.5, but, this time I made sure the manual X2 was OFF! Within 3 minutes, charging light went OFF!

From the SI site:

"How to Charge
Unscrew the metal tip that is on the bottom of the battery. Take your Mini USB cable that came with your X2 Volt Battery and plug it in to a USB Port on your computer or the 0.5/1.5 amp Volt Wall Adapter. Then take the mini USB end and plug it in the spot that was under the metal piece. Where the device is plugged in will glow blue while charging and turn off when finished. Charging time is approximately 3 hours."

For DUMMIES like me, might be an idea to add: "If charging the MANUAL X2, make sure the battery is turned off , otherwise the blue light will indicates it is "in use" and will remain lit and will not NOT indicate a full charge".

DUH:shock:

I dunno, I love my PCC,,,,,and I wasn't sure I would. It takes 3 hours to charge a batt and 3 hours for me to drain a batt,,,,,,so I am charging one and using one, and when the one I am using dies, I just switch. My PCC charges at least 3,,,,so if I go with 2 fully charged batts, and I can charge 3 more,,,,,that's 5 batts. shrugs,,,,,it works for me. In fact, I went out Friday for 10 hours and it worked just fine.

No offense to the OP, but things do move kind of fast around here (i.e. people are VERY active). If you create a thread and post back three days later ... its probably talking about Nascar or photobiology by then. If someone inadvertently jacks your thread, hop back in and steer it back on course.

I agree with that but also here he was telling people to ditch their PCC (more than likely people have a SI PCC on this forum) and buy a USB Hub from another vendor and also provided a link. That link could also be his affiliate link or maybe he is the vendor. I'm surprised his thread even stayed up.

What's funny is I agree with him. I think it makes more sense to charge a few batteries rather than have a PCC. There's better ways of going about it though. He could have gone to the Suggestion Box and posted there asking SI to look into developing a USB Hub and give his reasons why. He could have also asked for a carrying case with a bigger capacity to hold the batteries etc.

The pcc has its place. I bought one when I first got started. I don't use it much now since I have several batteries and several x2's. I don't usually go through more than 2 small batteries a day. The pcc is nice when you are gone a long time. If I go on a trip, I take my pcc to charge the batteries. I certainly am not going to take 5 battery chargers with me on vacation. I just take a pcc, maybe 1 USB charger and my x2
