No clue but I would imagine you could feel each one and see if one of them is exceptionally hot. If it was gonna blow, I imagine it'd be pretty warm.

I use an ozone generator quite a bit and I'm not sure I'd describe the odor of ozone as "metallic" but it eliminates odors so that could be that "fresh" smell. Hard to say with verbal descriptions of smells. Lol.

Is it a 16 bank charger or a whole bunch of chargers? That's sure a lot of batteries to be charging at once! Wow! You have a house full of hardcore vapers??

How many is many and How long are they charging? are you charging them all at once or in cycles?

Chargers pass current, they get warm/hot internally. Some parts can be made of materials that may off gas once a certain temperature is reached.

Keep a watch on your batteries and the charger. Check for overly hot areas. pay attention to how long it takes to notice the odor.

You may simply be over taxing your charging device.

nah, it was four d4's. it is just me. I got a deal on vtc5's. $2.75 each. sorry bought them all lol. I like to keep a charge in them because if you let them go to low they won't come back. so I charged them. it is actually done and went fine. none were even warm. I looked up battery charging and ozone. large lead acid batteries produce ozone when charging and a spark could cause a huge explosion. so perhaps that many 18650's equals a "large battery". it was the batteries because when they were done the smell quickly went away. strange.

Agreed, 18650 batteries are SEALED units. if venting they are damaged and time to recycle.

Please note - Batteries should be kept at a storage charge, not fully charged. Approx.60% for storage. Check occasionally and top up a bit as needed. Batteries go Flat from Life Cycles or from constant Charging, like laptops always plugged in. Not from general storage. Often new batteries list a shelf life of up to 10 years.

I have spent big money at that b&m so he did that sort of a "thank you". Christmas. he can't get them now, had 16 left and hooked me up. i apologize for kind of meaning it was a regular sale. he carries a number of other batteries but the sonys were basically over so he did that. he lost money on the batteries per se but has made plenty off me. it was a legit deal, they are real. i don't want to say who it is because i am guessing this was between us. not to mention i just bought two more chargers with them.

i fully charged them. i guess i should not have charged them that much for storage but they were already at like 3.2x. which probably means he did not have them for sale anyways because the supply is gone or something. they were in a drawer under the counter not on display with the other batteries. i do think he meant them to be for someone he liked.
