Batteries giving off a strange smell.

Unfortunately I don't live close to any shops, nor do I have a friend who vapes or another mod.. If its just the mod making the smell (As I'm starting to believe as well.) is it alright to use the batteries? I mean as long as they dont get hot it should be fine right?


Edit: I just smelled the inside of the mods battery compartment, there hasn't been a battery in there in quite some time and it does still have the smell - I guess it must be the mod afterall, sorry to waste your time @Mooch but thank you for all the help. I'm assuming since it is the mod, it should be fine?

Sorry, there’s just no way for me to know if it’s ok to use or not. I have no idea what is actually happening or causing the odor.

yeah it's the mod. I have a voopoo drag myself and the battery compartment and 510 connector both have an odor. I think it's just the way they smell from the factory. been using mine w hg2 bats for 2 months no problems.

I was going to agree with Mooch until I saw the above post. ^^^^ Even with that said, if your friend is comfortable with you trying your batteries in his mod, it might be worthwhile, just to make sure you have isolated the "problem". I've never had that happen with a mod, but I don't own a Voopoo mod so I'd have to say if all else is okay you could probably keep using your setup. If the smell is bothersome (and does it fade away after time @Mike P?) I might try wiping it down as you vape and see if the odor becomes less noticeable (though it sounds like it's really only bothersome when you open the mod?)

no, the smell doesn't seem to fade, but I haven't had it long. it's only noticeable if I put my nose up to it with the doors open or rda off. definitely some kind of factory smell, I noticed it before putting batteries in it.

Thanks a bunch, that definitely puts my mind at ease. Kinda weird that this seems to be the only, or at least one of a few, mods that do this. I'm still going to keep an eye on it though, and if I come across anyone with a mod suitable I'll definitely ask @stols001

Hi and welcome. I am late to the thread, but I'd bet on the mod myself. If possible, try the cells in a friend's mod; then you will know.
