Hey everyone. I've been vaping now for the past couple weeks. I've been able to cut back on analogs significantly, but have turned back to them from time to time when stress builds or I feel like I'm really lacking something.

The primary factor that I think I'm missing is a solid throat hit. I'm not looking for a scratchy/burning feeling in the back of the throat, but rather something more akin to a freight train pounding the back of the throat on inhale. Just a nice consistent "thunk" sort of feeling (not sure how else to describe it).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If it helps, I've been vaping on both the Ovale eMini as well as the eGo-C Twist with Kanger EVOD BCC and Kanger ProTank II. In both devices, I've been using Ahlusion 50/50 juice blends.

Edit:

All juice blends have been 24mg/ml concentrates. I'm actually considering cutting back on the nicotine, because I seem to end up over-vaping while chasing the throat hit.

The higher the nic level, the more throat hit. Also, the higher the pg ratio, the more throat hit. Other than messing with those two levels, your next best bet is a Rebuildable atomizer. They do have a learning curve, but once you master it, you have the ability to get more throat hit than you could ever hope for.

Hey mgmrick,

I was probably updating my post with nicotine concentrates as you were posting, but I'm actually thinking the nicotine might be too high (perhaps too low?).

I've tried upping the voltage on the twist, but I just end up with a really funky flavor. I'm currently set at 3.4 volts and have a 2.2 Ohm resistance head in the EVOD.

have you tried a top coil tank like the vivi nova instead of the bottom coil tank like the protank? top coil tanks give warmer vapes as to where bottom coils give cooler vapes

higher pg levels will tend to give tougher throat hits over higher vg levels you can try a 60/40 or 80/20 for you juices
and higher nic will give more th

adding a few drops of menthol as well might help with th on juices

Everybody is different I vape much higher voltage than a twist battery can at its highest setting. I use alot of the bottom coil kanger style products and vape 7ml of 24mg nic a day

Perhaps try increasing the % of PG. I'm at 80% pg for different reasons than yourself, but I did notice when I switched a much better TH than when I was using 50/50.

I notice you said you're using 50/50 in your mixes. 24 is quite a substantial TH for me but you could try upping the PG to 80 that will make a difference, or just go for even higher nic till you no longer feel any need for cigs at all. That's what this is all about at the end of the day.

Slow, steady, and long(er) draws might help. Taking a good bit into the mouth and then inhaling with a quick inhale gives me a decent "thump" of a TH. I can't stand the scratchy throat hits, they drive me crazy. Like those above me posted, try upping the PG% in your juices, that should give you a better TH and even some more flavor to boot.

At that resistance you should be vaping at around 4.0 volts. At 3.4v it's no wonder you're not getting a good hit.

You also might consider learning to rebuild your coils using cotton wick (it greatly improves the flavor and hit). I used to smoke American Spirit non-filter and I get plenty of throat hit with my 18mg 50/50 DIY (using a 2.0 ohm coil, battery set at 3.8v).
