Where exactly is east asia. According to google it looks like japan is part of east Asia. Geography is not one of my strong points

The majority of these Japanese cotton sheets are not even made in Japan, it's just rolled out and made into a certain shape that consumers call Japanese Organic Cotton. Truth is almost all of it comes from drum roll please......

The People's Republic of CHINA

They are by far the world's leader in cotton production.
I Googled it last night and China is indeed the likely source of cotton from "east Asia" though their organic output is still relatively small compared to India and Pakistan, which are considered the "central Asia" suppliers.

I'd like to try that stuff...

I have really enjoyed using it.
Simple to work with.
Reasonable time to full flavor.
No hash off taste at all.

I've rinsed wicks 3-4 weeks old, prepping to remove and rewick, and they rinsed back to white.

Con - can be burnt, like cotton.

vape smart:thumb:

Egyptian Cotton is the best... ever notice the price of Egyptian linen?? Its hi quality stuff
Google Egyptian cotton sheets/linen and see how many hits you get but Google Japanese Cotton sheets/linen and compare ;)

8.7 million hits egyptian
5.9 million for japanese

There are more than a dozen different types of "Egyptian cotton" and the vast majority are of only average quality. The highest quality ELS cotton grown in Egypt is actually a modified strain of South American cotton. Less than 20% of Egyptian cotton is ELS cotton. The same with Indian, Chinese, and Japanese cotton. Their ELS cotton strains are all variants of Gossypium Barbadense cotton which originally came from Peru. The British took the cotton and began growing it on plantations throughout their colonial empire, which is how it spread to so many parts of the world.

There is virtually no difference between ELS Egyptian cotton and American Pima cotton.

Bad News - Good News:

Bad News: Got 80 sheets of Koh Gen Do from Amazon and did a nice wick in two of my kayfun Lite+ V2. Not bad, but not as good as my organic cotton from CVS. And I'm talking about flavor (yes- I boiled it): not as much and with a slight metallic taste. I had high hopes for this stuff because of the way the fibers are so straight. It seems to wick as well as regular organic balls, but it's somewhat stiff- not as soft.

Good News: Roll 'em up, and they're GREAT for cleaning out my English Springer Spaniel's ears!

Perhaps the boiling did something? Did you use distilled water and a sterilized pan? Part of the point if KGD is that the growing and processing makes boiling unnecessary.

Maybe you need to sleep on it to tell the difference but to me it's money WELL spent

Isn't China the least green and environmentally unhealthy country on the planet?

The air, groundwater, soil, and seawater in Japan is contaminated beyond recovery.
Its getting worse every day. The Japanese government denied and downplayed the disaster from the beginning.
Its very bad.

"Green" policy doesnt matter.

I used Rayon for a about a year, and have been doing Koh Gen Do for about 6 months.

I got a good deal on the genuine stuff on ebay. Something like 40-60 pads for $10, I forget.

Rayon and KGD are very comparable as far as flavor goes. The rayon gives you a better nicotine hit though, and it lasts longer than KGD for me. I vape a dark, sweet juice and with rayon I'd have to rebuild every 2-2.5 days. With KGD, I can't even last a full 2 days, vaping about 3ml a day.

I thought rayon was easy to work with, but KGD is even easier. Also, the concerns about the man-made material with rayon. I dunno, I'm used to KGD and rewicking every day, so I just keep using it.

Rayon isnt a man made fibre.
It's cellulose fibre. Like paper.

I doubt it, because I boil my regular organic cotton balls. No, don't use distilled water or sterilized pan- just the same pan that had raw chicken gizzards sitting in it on the front porch for a couple weeks.

Please don't misunderstand- this cotton is not bad- just not quite as good, to my taste, as the regular organic cotton I've been using. May try some that hasn't been boiled, but I prefer the special flavor I get from the rotten gizzard bacteria.

I think you got it, but was just saying that you may have introduced something with the boiling that wasn't there before.
