I just got this magneto and caterpillar setup from the local shop. I have an efest 18650 35A batt. It's quad coil series parallel if I'm wrong correct me please. It hits like a train. I think it's about .8 ohm according to steam engine. What ya think?

Looks nice. I believe it would be parallel, parallel. Series would require 2 coils between a positive and negative post (if I remember my Basic Electricity and Electronics courses.)

Just an FYI. If your batteries are the purple Efest 18650 2500mAh 35A batteries -- they are not 35A continuous. They are really rebranded LG18650HE2 2500mAh 20 amp continuous batteries.

I just want to point out that calculated resistance is, for lack of a better word, a guess! You actually want to measure it as there is a world of difference between what theoretically should be and what often is!

Oh man thanks for that info. Earlier today I was running a 0.3 setup. What batts do you recommend? I have heard sony makes a good battery but I'm clueless. Have been out of the scene since ego twists just came out.

I actually tried with a Home Depot multi meter but it gave like a .2 reading which I was pretty sure was incorrect. But I could be wrong.

sony vtc5's are the "in" thing - good mah rating and 30amp battery.
Make sure they are authentic though - lots of knockoffs out there...

+1 on the Sony's. But as HecticEnergy said -- lots of counterfeit batteries out there. Just last week Illumination Supply (a well respected battery supplier) found counterfeit batteries in their inventory. Discussion thread below.

WHERE TO GET BATTERIES

Only buy from a reputable dealer (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are a few reputable suppliers in the US.

looks great, just got my first mechanical mod, a magneto as well, love the magnetic firing switch!

I had wanted to get the smoktech rsbt hybrid or the caterpillar, but the local vape shop didn't have any smoktech rebuildables. How are you liking the caterpillar, does it fit nicely on the magneto. pics!

Can't tell gauge of wire, but I'd say it sounds pretty accurate.

How do you like quads on the caterpillar? I have one but have never built quads on it due to the air flow is only for dual coils?
