Or vaping 12 mg eLiquid around 25 ml in a day (or an hour)
I'm sure no adult anywhere around him was advocating for that much to be taken. I'm thinking he was being egged on by fellow students to see how many he could ingest.
Either way, the takeaway from this story is that some adults do think it is very okay to allow children access to nicotine, and some of those people are school counselors.
In this case, I imagine it will lead to never being okay for a kid to receive the gum without expressed permission from parents. Even that would be contested as kid may only confide in school counselor that they have desire for nicotine and feel that can't confide in their parents.
But if this were vaping related, it would be touted up as a) how extremely harmful nicotine is when used in this particular form and b) yet another reason why that form (vaping) must be heavily regulated and/or banned. No questions as to why it ought to be banned from kids. And many vapers would go along with that. But for nic gum, I think there will be hemming and hawing that will amount to not banned to kids, just needs to be a little bit better controlled as I'm sure no adult around this kid was advocating for anywhere near that amount to be taken.
regulations? how about you finish regulating your schools first...
