Nice, Kico. Thanks for the coffee.

California was so nice for the weather but it is a very crowded place to live.

Spanky is so cute:) Spanky has peeps.

It's 25 degrees out this morning. Positively balmy overnight low.

I looked out and Wiseguy was laying down this morning. That's unusual. He has gotten up now and he looks okay from here. Maybe he just like the fact that the goats are laying outside and decided to do something new. Guess I will keep an eye on him today.

Better get the house picked up and the place shined up a little. My handsome man is going to home late this evening.

Get Alice catnip for her birthday. She'll like that, and you'll have money left over for whatever vaping supplies you decide on.

Horses do lie down when they're relaxed and comfortable. It's probably OK. If he starts to roll, get up, get right down and roll again, then it could be colic, but just lying still probably means he's sleeping or at least resting. Horses will lie down on ground we'd think is too cold, like in the snow. They don't mind the cold as much as humans, and in fact, they like it colder than we do. Sometimes it's hard to remember that when you see horses standing out in a snowstorm rather than being in their sheds.

I had a cat like that. She ignored catnip, but she loved an astringent called Sea Breeze. I'd put a little on a kleenex and watch her go crazy with it. Cats are so weird. They all are in their own way.

I read horses need to roll - keeps their back in alignment.
I see mine laying down quite a bit really. (Love those outdoor cameras!) More so during the night.

Lizzie - Glad your house is going to be "a home" again tonight! (I always told hubby it wasnt 'home' til he walked in the door)

Gosh but I wouldn't want to cross you! AT MY BEST I could never pick up a HOUSE! You are strong Woman! :D

Here's another autumn scene to get Deb ready for cooler weather. For the rest of us, it'll be a while before we see fall.

I wonder if Australia gets fall foliage like this. I know not all parts of the US do.

I'll be heading out to physical therapy in a little while. It's my PT's last day. She took a job elsewhere. She's a sweet person and has helped me a great deal, and I'm sorry to lose her, but I have another PT lined up in the same office, that guy who is the arm and hand specialist, who I think may be even better. So losing my present PT has good and bad to it.

California has interesting microclimates. On the peninsula, it's more moderate. Across the bay to the east, the temperatures are more extreme. I think Redwood City was perfect, since we didn't get the coastal fog (there was a range of mountains/hills between us and the ocean), but we didn't get the extremes of the East Bay area, either. Stockton is inland enough to get more extreme heat and cold. I think I'd have trouble with summer heat there.

There can be a 30 degree temperature change between Stockton and San Francisco in the summer. When it starts to get hot, we usually head to the coast where it's much cooler. We start out riding in short sleeves from home and when we get past the east bay, we have to start putting layers on! At least when it's hot, there is no humidity. My knees and other joints would really act up with hot humid climates.

Redwood City climate would be perfect for me. It's just a bit expensive for my meager salary.

When the fog comes into San Francisco and the nearby coastline, it can get downright cold, even in summer. I remember when I lived in Pacifica, which is on the coast, and had a part-time job down in Half Moon Bay, also on the coast, after work, about 4 p.m., I'd take the bus back up to Pacifica. There was a strange mix of people getting on the bus. There'd be an elderly lady bundled up as if it was winter, a surfer in a bathing suit, and every kind of dress in between.

And that bus ride along the cliffs of the Pacific Coast Highway was wild. Being higher up in the bus, swaying over the curves with the ocean surging below, was always an adventure to me.

Ahhh!!! Riding on the bus. So many stories, so little time.

I lived in Southern California. It was a great place to be a gardener. Not like Nevada where we are literally terraforming our yard with the judicious use of a well and careful plantings.

Well, PT seems to be helping and you are a dedicated exercise doer so you will probably do great with the next PT. Sounds like you got one that knows about your condition.

Bathroom clean. Beds have fresh sheets. House picked up and ready to vacuum. New tablecloth. Laundry rolling right along. Sprinkler running in the veggie garden. Looks like nap time to me:)

I hope you'll find time to tell us some of your bus stories.

Yes, when I lived in Redwood City, I had a garden. I'm not much of a gardener, but it was easy there. There was also a really great farmers' market in town on weekends. Lots of fresh food out there.

I've seen the new PT twice now, so I sort of know him already. Parting with Julie today was emotional, though. As much as I like her, though, I think the new guy is more skilled.

You deserve a nap, Lizzie. You are always so industrious. I feel ashamed of myself when I think of all you get done in a day.

They say that Mark Twain was quoted (but actually he never did say it): "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

I think the PCC is one of the most scenic routes I've ever been on. I totally understand the cliffs. I'm amazed there aren't very many guard rails in California. They are all over in West Virginia.

I've heard that quote, too, and always appreciated it.
