I gave my auto X2s to my daughter and a friend whom I recently got into vaping. They were quite happy to save the cost of buying them. I was happy that they are being used instead of sitting in cases gathering dust. I would give them a couple of my X2s but right now they are not into manuals... notice I said a couple. Keeping some for backups.

World Wide .- Greek/Trojan thing . . .Just Sayin' . . .

No, Uncle, I disagree. It comes from telling a horse's age by looking at the wear on his teeth. In other words, if someone gives you a horse for free, don't get all critical about how old it might be. I don't agree with this, but that's what the saying means. Nowadays, horses are so expensive to maintain that you really don't want a free one that will cost you a lot in medical care after you get it. I would look a gift horse in the mouth and assess a lot of other things, too, before I accepted it. But there are those out there who see "free" and don't think and further than that. Actually, I'd refuse a gift horse altogether, since I already have one I'm struggling to afford.

If my memory serves "Me" right now - All 3 of "Us" are correct, just depends who is saying it and where the gift is coming from . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Beware Greeks bearing gifts . . .
How old is the Animal . . .
A gift - is a GIFT, "You" don't question a gift or the giver . . .

BTW: I was trying to get to the BAD BOY - hoping he might come up with another FUNNY Comment . . . ;)

Okay back to lurking for "Me" . . .:D

Come back Uncle:)

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth is "tongue in cheek" I think. Definitely examine any living gifts to see if you really want them. Free kittens will be coming out the wazoo shortly and I will be saying no based on the cost of spaying and neutering and giving shots to coyote food. I'd have a bunch of the cute little buggers otherwise:)

I always say it isn't the initial cost of the critter, it's the vet bills and the pet food and the rest of it you should be thinking about.

You used the phrase perfectly correctly, and I'm not offended. I was just explaining its origins, and then got sidetracked into my personal thoughts on free horses. Someone just told me about more free horses. They are all mature and were never broken to ride. I can't understand how people can keep a horse till it's in its teens and never train it, then expect someone else to want it, even if it's free. With the economy like it is now, this is coming up a lot. I think it's irresponsible to breed horses and then just let them languish in the pasture all their life. If, for some reason, you can't afford the horse anymore, then who else would want it? Maybe in some past time when horses were more in demand, it might get an owner, but these days, horses are being given away a lot because their owners can't afford to feed them any longer. What will happen to all these older, untrained horses?

"Beware of Greeks bearing gifts" does refer to the Trojan horse, and it's a warning to yes, look a gift horse in the mouth. :)

Haven't seen her too for a long time. I think she's busy.
I was in her area with the horse and i thought i may have to call her but i didn't wanted to bother her if she was resting etc. Maybe next time.

Φοβού τους Δαναούς και δώρα φέροντας

That is absolutely correct.
Laokoon said that, one of the three priests of Troy.

Yes, there are gazillions of untrained horses, including mini horses, available. Who really wants to get a teen aged horse or older horse that has never been trained? The thought is simply frightening. One reason I get my little guy out there and on the road is so that he can get a nice home if I get to a point where I can no longer keep him. I don't work with him every day but I do work with him so that he will be a valued horse not an untrained safety hazard. Who wouldn't want a polite well cared for little horse to teach there grandkids with?

That means you are a responsible horse owner. I think of it akin to having a child and refusing to educate him or teach him any skills. Then, if he should ever have to go out in the working world, what kind of job could he get?
