I do a lot of internet shopping. I hate going to regular stores and dealing with people and germs! I just placed an order for the 770 which should be here tomorrow! But, I'm still going to clean today and see what it picks up after it charges. I watched the cat video you posted and can't believe how much it bumps things. The neato seems to not do it as much.

I think that you'll like the 770. It does bounce off of things but with very little force. I'm not sure about the 770, because I haven't really observed it doing, but Snowflake (an older model) detects objects that it is approaching and slows down to minimize impact even though it has bumpers. It has a random algorithm, but it does manage to get pretty much everything especially if you keep it to one room at a time.

 That's just .... most unfortunate. Ewww

I agree, Lizzie, I'm not sure if I can afford a Roomba. They sound great, though. I was reading reviews on Amazon, and people mentioned certain things like having to clean the brushes and filter, but there were no real, serious complaints. I have electrical cords on the floor in corners, though, and apparently you have to pick them up. And shoes. Do you know how many pairs of shoes are on the floor in various spots? Still, all that is a lot less work than vacuuming. I was interested to read that one person had problems when it got on a dark-colored rug in the beginning (it would stall), but apparently the machine figured it out. Roombas even solve problems and think things through? I can hardly believe it.

No, they don't learn. I had to figure out that I can't try to use one on my black marble tile kitchen floor with the light off, or when there are crisp-edged, dark shadows during the day on other floors. They have cliff detectors, and think they're about to fall down the stairs. They don't actually stall, just stop at the edge of the area and navigate around it.

I rode again today, and this time, Penny didn't trip. I kept a close watch on her and noticed that she likes to look around a lot instead of watching her feet. When she got rubbernecking, I'd point her head back where it should be, and we prevented disaster. I wish this was Penny's job though, not mine.

I never considered the fact that a horse rubbernecking could cause serious problems! Glad you got to ride today. :)

Then you would need the scuba to go along with it!! That guy sounded furious.

True! True! But ... the Scooba wouldn't have helped that rug one bit. If you have a pet that has accidents, you just don't schedule the Roomba to clean. Send it on its merry way when you can be home.

Today, I was sitting here and observed Snowflake running around with a sneaker riding on top. It had knocked one off of the shoe shelves, and the sneaky sneaker had landed on it just so that it could go for a ride.

O-M-G! Guess we better not get a Roomba! There are times when we've been to Milwaukee and back and one of the dogs have had an accident. Not often, but it does happen!

The solution would be to start it manually, not set it on an automatic start time. You can do that. It's just convenient for some people to have it do the vacuuming while they are out at work or otherwise away from home on a regular basis.

LMBO! That's funny, Rave! I couldn't imagine my cats riding on it, though. Only Farley and I think with his weight, it wouldn't move! He's about 15#!

Very true! Someone is usually home at all times, but manually would definitely be the way to go! I don't really forsee one in our near future, though. It would be nice!

That surprised me, too. My cat wouldn't ride on it, I'm sure. A sneaker might, though. I have shoes on the floor, as I said, and I'd have to put them up somewhere before vacuuming. Now, I just sort of push them around with the vacuum.

Farley is a good sized kitty!! Feeding him lasagna, are you?

He wishes! LOL! Although, he does have orange in his coloring! He's a cute cat, though. He is our "emo" kitty. He's always looking depressed. He's getting much braver, though. He'll jump on the bed whether or not Milo, the youngest dog, growls at him or not!

Same here. Hubby leaves his shoes and slippers under the table, though.

I got tired of my shoelaces getting stuck in the brushes so my shoes stay in the closet. It's bad enough cleaning all of my long hair out of the brushes, I don't want any added things to pull out!
