O
Okay Y'all its gonna be really cold in Alabama this coming week! One day it will be 5 degrees! I mean we are only 4 hours away from Florida for goodness sake! I know y'all Yankees(no offense intended my mama and Grandma are from upstate New York) are used to colder winters but jeez! See for the most part (as Mama described to me) y'all got the cold without the wet(moisture) in the air we got all the humidity in the summer and the 'wet' cold in the winter. I think I'd rather have the dry cold. My older brother told me it wasn't that bad.

Anyway, i just ordered some sketching stuff from Amazon. Should be here Wednesday. Now I know I am not any good at all I just wanted to doodle a little. I wish I was as talented as y'all and my fiance but well sometimes if I just don't think about it and let my hand do all the work I can come up with something kinda interesting. Here is what I got 2 of, My fiance recommended them.

Amazon.com: Royal & Langnickel Essentials Sketching Pencil Set, 21-Piece: Arts, Crafts & Sewing

Wow! That's a nice selection for such a low price. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Have fun. :)

Q, if you need it that small it'll burn too fast!

Rave, I don't know about that tool from Harbor Freight. The specs on it are just a "tad" off, 2" high and a weight of .38 pounds seems a little on the tiny side to me for use on a log, but that's probably a mistake when they entered the data. It might work on seasoned hard woods, but fresh cut would probably give it problems.

This is more like what I used, but the ones I had weighed 18 pounds for the big model and 8 pounds for the "light weight" one.
Amazon.com: Truper 32415 12-Pound Splitting Maul with 27-Inch Steel Handle, Red: Patio, Lawn & Garden

I agree about that wood being chopped too small. Just sayin'.

The specs are off. Sounds like they accidentally measured the doll house version! I wouldn't be splitting up fresh cut wood when there's so much hardwood that has already seasoned all over the forest. I'm going to buy it because it's something that I can probably use myself and would be good exercise as well. Yeahhh - I have plenty of elbow grease. What I don't have is the coordination or steadiness required to handle the maul that you showed!

Very nice, and economical too! Good luck. By the way, I keep hearing some very talented people around here saying that they aren't, so ... I'm just not convinced. Will we see some of your efforts?

Read some of the reviews: haha, "good for someone who likes to smash stuff."

I know, right? I read all of the reviews. And, yeah, occasionally, I feel a burning desire to smash stuff. It simply isn't productive behavior usually. If I had one of these, it would be!

I've been having problems with my Internet all day today so I'll just mostly be lurking on my iPad til I get it fix. I think my modem is going south which is where I'd like to be about now, in southern CA or Mexico. I hate being cold. I may have mentioned that before.

Big time internet troubles here too, but I think it's the weather. ECF is runnin' slow too.

Sorry about you bein' cold. Hey - I have one of those fleece Snuggle Wrap thingers that I could send ya if you want it. Never even been used.

Holy cats - you posted at 2:53 a.m.!!

Okay - Time to make another pot of coffee to steel myself for the day. I've been up since 4:45 a.m. for no good reason that I can think of. More coffee sounds like an excellent plan. I'm thinking English Toffee Coffee. Sound good anyone? I'll share.

The National Weather Service has now changed its predictions for Winter Storm Ion in my area. 8-12" of snow and winds of 35 - 40 mph beginning tonight. That'll cause windchills of 25 - 35 below zero. Monday is supposed to be even worse with a high of -14 and windchills of 30 - 40 below.

Yes. More coffee and a LOT more firewood!! chopping.gif

Good morning! It has warmed up here into the teens, which feels balmy after the cold we had. Sunday, it's supposed to get even warmer, with rain/snow. I wonder how much rain and what that'll do to the snow on the ground. Probably turn it to ice, which is not good. But today is warmer with bright sunshine, so I'll enjoy it while I can.

It is a toasty 26 degrees here this morning and will probably be a lovely day. Nevada is looking in the windows and saying "Aren't you coming out here to feed me yet???" Yeah, little buddy, I'm getting dressed and getting out there to feed you...don't worry:)

Definitely will try to get some stuff done today. Also, we need to start buying seeds for the garden soon and Hubby and I will have to work on that.

Good morning, Volt peeps. It's nice and balmy here today, 80 degrees and sunny. Ok, I'm lying about the 80 degrees, but it is sunny and 20 degrees. It hit -5 last night and that's very cold for these parts. The shoveling is done, so I think that I will be staying indoors, today. :D

Now we warm up just enough to get rain from the next storm and then it's back into the deep freeze. They're talking about icy roads, next week. Ugh !!!!!

Yup, Sandy, we will just have to take it one day at a time. Spring is only 3 months away.

Four months? March usually isn't spinglike here. Sometimes we get our biggest snowstorm of the winter in mid-March. April is the very first time you might experience spring here, and for sure, spring has sprung by early May.

Well....it seems there was nothing wrong at my end with my internet connection. I was on the phone yesterday for an hour troubleshooting the problem and they couldn't figure it out before we got cut off. I normally get 20 mbps and I was only getting 0.78. They said they couldn't find anything wrong at their end or with my modem but this morning it's back to normal. Why is it that internet providers never want to take responsibility and always put the blame on our end? <Insert bad word here>

I don't know what a fleece Snuggle Wrap thingers is but it doesn't sound like something I'd wear. ;) If it's one of those one piece bunny suits I definitely wouldn't wear it. Thanks though. :)

Can I rant here? It' just a little rant....

I placed my D i C K Blick order yesterday. Rave said that I would have a love/hate relationship with that site. She was right but probably meant it differently. My order was $41, almost $10 for shipping and $4.50 for tax. (What happened to that Grrrr Icon?) I didn't order anything large or heavy so this kinda sucks. I was charged tax because there is a Blick store in Seattle but it's too far to drive. Besides, I'd spend even more if I were in the store. End of rant. Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. :(

Yes, it's expensive. But I order from them because I haven't found a local store that sells the kind of pastel pencils I like. I always weigh what a local store would cost vs. shipping. Also, shop around on the Internet. Maybe you can find a cheaper place that has the brand of art materials you like. Factor in what they charge in shipping. Sometimes if you can get free shipping, it's a better deal, even if they charge more for the product.

BTW, I think Blick has a free shipping day today. I got an e-mail. Or was it yesterday? But it was only for orders over $75, I think, so yours wouldn't be covered.

Anyway, the Internet is great for access to stuff that wouldn't be be available locally. I guess then shipping fees are part of that.

I have this happen a lot with horse stuff, too. In fact, when I order something heavy, I pay FOB even if shipping is free, so I get a gallon of fly spray at Tractor Supply rather than order it online.
