Big time storms here last night. My son called me from the end of our driveway and told me to get down in the basement NOW! He and his gal were watching a wall cloud with a ton of rotation. At one point they saw a big tree limb fall from 300' and there was corn foliage flying in a rotating pattern. According to our local weather, we had 70 mph winds when that whole system moved through. It was great! That is not my home by the way.

Thank you for the coffee, Rave. 'Tis delicious.

Scary looking storm. Glad you are safe. :)

You're welcome Lilac!

I just can't help myself. I freakin' love thunderstorms! As long as no trees fall on the house or any of my utilities, I'm a happy camper.

They're calling for the possibility of severe weather here in the northeast later today. The dogs have been acting weird all morning...never a good sign!

I saw that on The Weather Channel last night. It looks a little iffy for you folks today. Be safe!

Good morning, Volties.

Fall arrives at 10:49 (EST) this morning.

Oh boy, oh boy oh boy!!!!!

Looking forward to fall!!!!! And now it is only about an hour and a half away at 7:49am PST if I got the math on time zones correctly. I'm up and drinking coffee at what I like to call the .... crack of dawn. I never used to like getting up early but now that I live in the country, I seem to get up at dawn. Looks like a beautiful day. I hear the weather is going to start cooling off in the next couple of days although it doesn't sound like it will be too bad.

Watch out for those storms today, folks. It is still pretty warm so there is a real possibility of tornadoes. The storms are fun to watch but stay safe!!!! I remember huge thunder storms when I lived in Dallas and the thought of tornadoes scared me half to death. I would rather deal with earthquakes any day.

Have a great day!!!!!

Those are some amazing photos, Rave.

You are inspiring me Marlou. Truly. I have this HealthRider and I used to work out on it for nearly an hour every morning. When I got MS, I was in a wheelchair for awhile. I didn't know that I would be able to get out of it, so I gave the HealthRider to my daughter. She hasn't been using it because she prefers a treadmill. When my neurologist pointed out to me the dips in my legs where entire muscles have just disappeared, I convinced her to let me borrow it back. I tried when she first brought it, but I couldn't convince my arm to get with the program. I know this all sounds very strange, but that's how MS works. You never really know at any given point in time what parts will cooperate with you. Anyhow, a HealthRider really kinda requires four limbs. Now my arm is back, but it's just so hard to do this. If you can do it with arthritis, then I can do this with atrophied muscles.

Rave, the arthritis in my knees is not severe. It is limiting because of the stiffness, but except for one bout I don't suffer much pain with it. I think that's because I have learned how to not stress the joints. Strangely it has no affect on driving and now I find it has none on pedaling. The hard part for me is getting on the darn thing.

My daughter has MS. Her episodes are not frequent and she has so far come through them without a loss of function. Some limitations, but she still works fulltime and leads a pretty normal life. She was diagnosed 21 years ago and is fortunate that hers is not one of the more severe forms of MS. When they first told her she had it she was completely devasted and needed therapy to adjust and get her head around it.

I hope you will be able to use the Healthrider. Exercise is so good for us physically, while the accomplishment revives our spirit. I had a thought: if the Healthrider proves to be too difficult because of the need for four limbs working at the same time, have you thought of the exercise cycles that just have the pedal assembly and are used while sitting in a chair? Or perhaps one of the recumbent bikes, which offer a bit more stability? I hope making these suggestions doesn't offend you in any way. I think of you often and pray for you. You have a harder road than most of us do. I admire the way you have chosen to travel it.

Thank you Marlou, and I'm not at all offended. Frankly, one of the reasons that I mention MS is so that it will be better understood by the public. I'm so glad that your daughter is not experiencing any loss of function. That is the path that many cases of MS follow - thank goodness. My case has resulted in a great deal of function loss, which is why I am on Disability. However, that does not in any way make my road harder than the roads that most folks have to travel. We all have our challenges in one way or another. Without those, we would never grow or learn empathy for others. I think of it more like a speed bump - kinda like Lexi (my favorite speed bump). Yeah - it's big, and I have to slow down to move around or over it, but there's no way in hell it's gonna stop me! I have a great life with great friends, and consider myself to be very fortunate.

I will look into those pedal assemblies that you can use while seated. Never even thought of that! Thanks! :)

Actually, exercise is good for arthritis. It won't cure it, but it'll make you a lot more flexible and not hurt as much. It may hurt when you start, but that should decrease as you get your joints moving. Another solution lots of people swear by is to take a supplement: glucosamine and chondroitin. You can find it in the vitamin section of your store.

Thanks, SandySu. Yeah, that's what I hope to gain from the bike: more flexibility and stronger leg muscles. I have taken supplements ever since I knew I had arthritis in my knees. They do help, a lot. Keeping the joints warm is important too. I also have a bit of arthritis in the large joint of my left thumb (where it joins the hand). If it gets chilly in the house that joint sometimes aches a bit. So I knitted some fingerless gloves and as soon as I put them on the ache subsides. Fingerless gloves are great for keeping your hands warm while allowing full use of your hands.

Good morning, friends. A bit late, I'm just now enjoying my first cup of coffee.

The house work has been keeping me busy. Except for some more odds and ends that need to be acquired, the place is finished until I start finding bids for a bathroom/kitchen remodel. Of course, those odds and ends will add up. /sigh

I need to start reading back, now. My body is hurting terribly, and at one point it hurt so much to bend my left knee I thought I'd traveled back in time 35 years to my knee surgery and the physical therapy of the day - a bread sack filled with 5 pounds of tumbled rocks my grandmother made up to use as weights against my upward movement. Ah yes, such fond memories... :p

Hi, Kia. I'm sorry you are in pain. Hope you get relief, ASAP.

Rave, I realized many years ago that attitude and determination are biggies. My grandmother had a lung injury that almost ended her life. As she recovered, her Dr told her that she had surprised him. My Maw was a very strong woman with a will of iron.

She told her Dr that when she came into the hospital she had every intention of walking back out. Her Dr said that was half the battle...determination. I have always remembered that.

Rave, you have great inner strength and a sheer joy of life. I have gained a lot from you. I know you will agree with me too that the folks on this forum all help each other in many ways. I always feel better when I leave the forum than I did when I came on.

I don't post a whole lot and I'm so neglectful about leaving messages. I'm not a good communicator, but I appreciate all of you here.
