Good morning everyone. Coffee is hot!

A helicopter ride is on my bucket list. I've done a lot of flying, as a passenger, in commercial jets, in everything basically except a 747. The one that impressed me most was a Fokker that I took out of Huntington, WVA. About a 12 passenger, dual rear engines, basically a missle with seats. That airport sits on a mountain and when rotation occurs, before wheels up, about a second later you're over a valley an extra 1000 or 1500 feet deep. Awsome feeling! Not the place to lose power on takeoff, although there is a little extra cushion from the relative height.

You are lucky Officer, to say the least. Any speed over about 40 on a bike can get "painful". Over 100 and you were beyond lucky. It's great you got everything back in terms of mobility, but I'm sure you have some aches and pains that you never had before. Hope the MRI shows everything is still in its proper place!

Not bad, thanks for asking. I hope Blues gets everything under control, at least enough to be manageable, by tonight with the next storm due after midnight. I'm still working on the yard from Sandy and have to get up on the roof and blow the gutters out again. Everyone I know has gotten their power back and I'm going to be busy helping with generator setups for the future for some of them.

Good Morning Volties!

Thanks so much for the coffee, Awsum! I was awake a lot more than normal last night, so I can use the boost.

We do seem to have more than our fair share of basket cases here. Fantastic story Officer. You are very lucky to be alive and kickin' and stirrin' the pot! Now - I wonder how SandySu is doing. She's another that's working to get back in the saddle.

Ist Officer, you are one tough cookie.

I'm impressed by this amazing group of people that has some major health issues and just keep on ticking and giving the world the old one-two punch. Keep up the good work, Raven, Raynes, Moonstruck, 1st Officer, Bluesman and the whole lot of you.

I totally agree with Lizzie. You all are truly an inspiration to me.

This is the bike that tried to kill me but it lost I killed it instead and I keep what's left in boxes in the garage. I ran number 13 because I got my racing license when I was 13 and didn't have a major crash until I was 49. Won't be doing that again but it was fun while it lasted. :D

Wow what a story. The one time I wrecked my bike it was my own damm fault. Lucky I was wearing good gear and not going too fast. All of this bike talk means I need to get my avatar updated. I currently ride a Triumph Daytona 675. God I love that bike. I live in CO and ride it to work all year depending on weather/snow conditions.

Looks like it might be a slow day here, so I think I might just post a link to my Florida Adventure. This includes my tiger story for anyone that is interested. Please let me know if the link doesn't work. Enjoy!

"RAVE" - As I read Your stories, you never fail to bring "Me" right along with "YOU" and on your adventures . . .

Thank You . . . I hope more enjoyable reading is on it's way . . .

Oh BTW - 3 things . . .

1) IMO - This is the VERY BEST Opening to a story I have ever read:

"First: Be patient. This requires a set-up. I have to tell you how the watch works before I will tell you what the time is."

Simply because, I am usually "accused" of telling people how the clock is built first when all they wanted to know and asked was - What Time Is It ?

So, I really hope you don't mind, but I am going to have to use that line . . . ;)

2) Now with all these great adventures you have been on is there a "Book" in the works . . . ;)

3) Yes, I AM BIASED - But WOMAN, YOU'RE ONE GOOD LOOKIN' DAME ! ! ! :D

I'm doing fine -- well, as well as can be expected. Last Thurs., I had a physical therapy appointment, and the doctor that did the operation told my physical therapist that he's found that if you are more aggressive with phys. therapy, the patients get better faster, so she was pretty aggressive. I hurt for days afterward, and I wonder if she was too aggressive or if I just have to deal with it in order to get better faster. I have an appointment this afternoon, so I'll ask about that.

Meanwhile, now I'm able to take a shower, including getting undressed, dried off, and dressed again unassisted. I still can't reach my right hand around to dry my upper back or left shoulder, but I discovered if I hang the towel on the towel rack, back up to it, and rub up and down, that works. Sometimes you just have to figure a way around things.

I can hardly wait till I can use my right hand to brush my teeth. I'm really useless with my left hand, and I fear my teeth are semi-neglected. I'm certainly not flossing yet.

Another milestone will be when they let me drive a car. At that point, I think Pat will go home. It's been wonderful having her here to help me, but she needs to get back home to Philadelphia and see if her house sustained any damage form the storm. Her son looked it over, and it seems OK, but he found a lot of mail they didn't forward, which has been a sore point between Pat and her post office since she came up here.

Good to hear you're recovering Sandy. Shoulder injuries are hard to work with, but if you don't use it, you'll lose it. Keep pushing it, even if it hurts a bit 'cause if you don't you may lose mobility of the joint.

Today is election day, so whatever your political persuaion may be, left, right, center or outer space, get out there and vote. Don't whine if the line is a little long or is it's inconvenient in some way. Think of the sacrifices that have been made so that you have the opportunity to vote in the first place. It's the leastw we can do for those that have defended us for so long.

I am so Thankful that I can Vote right where I live, the voting booths just happen to be located in our community room . . . SO - No long lines and No excuses why these "OLD PEOPLE" that live here can't get to the voting booths either . . .

"My" biggest pet pive are those people who don't "Vote' and then all they do is complain about what the government is doing/not doing . . .

AND - As far as I am concerned - You DON'T Vote - You DON'T Have a Say - in what happens in the government . . .

SO - No Matter Who "YOU" Want to WIN - GO VOTE ! ! ! :D

I agree get out and vote people. I did the early voting in CO so my vote has been in for over a week. Exercise your rights as many Americans have died so we have these rights and its your duty as a citizen to understand the issues and vote.

Hey SandySu,

FIL had shoulder surgery and it took some physical therapy and a bit of time for it to stop hurting. Sounds to me like you are doing a great job. A little creativity doesn't hurt. Good idea with the towel. He thinks it was definitely worth surgery since he can now bow hunt again.
