Everyone probably remembers "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," which was a hit in the '60s and was in the movie, "The Lion King," but did you know the full story? It's fascinating: The Lion Sleeps Tonight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So this song was actually Solomon Linda's, and here's the original version: Solomon Linda&The Evening ( The First Version ) - Mbube - YouTube

Then came the Weavers with Pete Seeger: The Weavers-Wimoweh - YouTube

Finally, the Tokens with the version that's most well-known: The Tokens - The lion sleeps tonight - YouTube

It's fun to see the evolution of this song.

I got the Tokens -The Lion Sleeps Tonight on cd. I herd The Weavers- Wimoweh but did not know the corrulation!!!!!!!!

Now Blues - you know that I would tell you if there was anything to worry about. This is nothing that I haven't been through before. Put the plane schedules away. SandySu, all of you, I am fine - really! Sometimes MS is a little harder to cope with than other times. When those times are upon me, I go quiet. I just kinda "hole up". Ya know?

I really care a great deal about you folks. I appreciate it sooo much that you care about me too, and I can't even begin to tell you how much I'm touched by the sentiments that you all have expressed. But - I'm a tough ole broad. I've been through this before and I will again. Nothing can hold me down for long! I'll be back more ornery than ever. I'll try to poke my head in every once in awhile to let you know that I'm hangin' in there until I feel like fit company for such a fun, lively bunch. Okay? No worries!!

Glad you are getting thru the days. Take it step by step and get better.

Raven has been struggling the last few days. That said, her spirit and sense of humor were bright and stong. Both of us have a tendency to keep each other informed about how we're struggling to get through a particular time, and then moving on with humor and... well... let's just call it "private discussions."

She thinks the world of you folks. Your friendship is respected and appreciated by Raven. You are like family to her. Raven will be back here as soon as she can. Things are just a drain on her right now. But know that she thinks about all of you and asks about all of you.

Blues, I think about her every day and pray she gets to feeling better soon. Thank you for keeping us updated and bless you for being there for her.

Breaking News from Washington DC. Capital of the USA !
The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled that there cannot
be a Nativity Scene in the United States' Capitol this
Christmas season. This isn't for any religious reasons. They
simply have not been able to find Three Wise Men in the
Nation's Capitol. A search for a Virgin continues. There was
no problem, however, finding enough asses to fill the stable.

I love it! Where did you find this? Or is it a White Rabbit original? I hope you don't mind if I share this with some friends.

Unfortunately there is too much truth in this news flash! I understand that there was a problem finding an area where the stable could hold the entire membership of the Congress, Senate and the White House, inculding the White House staff. Then when they decided, in the name of fairness and inclusiveness, to add most of the Secretarys and thier appointed staffs, it became evident that there just was no place large enough in the first place.

Raven, is having a difficult time this morning. She didn't do well yestaerday either. The one thing is, her spirit is on the upbeat. We talked for quite a while last night, and all things were good. I know she'll try to post and let you know she's okay.

Raven won't let me get on a plane to come and see her. So I told her to stop in here every now and say "Hi" to her friends.

I'm sorry to hear Raven is having problems. I'm sending constant vibes for her to feel OK again soon. Thanks, Blues, for keeping us posted about her welfare.

Since you all seem to be in the mood for early AM humor, this was also posted on Facebood by one of my friends.

Why married women should not go to Girls Night Out !

The other night I was invited out for a night with the "girls." I told my husband that I would be home by midnight, "I promise!" Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easily. Around 3 am, a bit loaded, I headed for home.
Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hallway started up and cuckooed 3 times. Quickly, realizing my husband would probably wake up, I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution, in order to escape a possible conflict with him. Even when totally smashed... 3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos totals 12 cuckoos = MIDNIGHT ! The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in, I told him "MIDNIGHT"... he didn't seem ...... off in the least. Whew, I got away with that one! Then he said "We need a new cuckoo clock." When I asked him why, he said, "Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said "oh ...." Cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another three times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted.

Fantastic Song:

"Great Balls of Fire" is a 1957 song recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis on Sun Records and featured in the 1957 movie Jamboree. It was written by Otis Blackwell (under the pseudonym Jack Hammer). The Jerry Lee Lewis 1957 recording was ranked as the 96th greatest song ever by Rolling Stone.

This was the first 45 Record I ever purchased at age 13. I still have it in my collection. That dates me for sure
