Thank you, Uncle. I was growing concerned that we puny humans would start taking ourselves a bit too seriously and feelings would get riled up and/or hurt.
What happened was tragic and sad. We don't even know anything about the guy that did this. Was he mentally ill? I don't know. Seems like a tragedy all the way around.
Peeps, although I am far from being a Pollyanna, I think we have to focus on solutions, acceptance, love and the incredible progress that has been made in the world. Yep, we are still having setbacks and hard times but there are so many wonderful advances in science, technology and, dare I say it, the human heart. So many more people today realize that we are all humans whether we are atheist, agnostic, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, Pagan, etc; black, white, brown, native to the land or foreign born, gay or straight or confused about sexuality, etc and on and on and on. Many, many people are working at leaving many of their prejudices and preconceived notions about other people behind and trying hard to see people as individual human beings.
Things aren't perfect but through vaccines, people who care and give mosquito nets and supplies, improved sanitation, in so many ways we are better off as a world with a far healthier population, as a whole. We just have to keep growing and learning as a species and work on ourselves, one day at a time and try really hard to remember that is love that makes a difference in people's lives. Sure, sometimes it is tough love but if we all work on the love that we give, the world can be a safer and more caring place for us humans. Love will help us remember the animals with care towards their space and food needs.
IMHO
