Are you soaking the dry beans overnight with a touch of baking soda? Fixes the, er, methane situation and the beans do cook faster. Then cook them in a crockpot or on the stove.
Oh, cool! Baking soda! The only tip I've gotten so far was to parboil them for about 5-10 minutes the night before, turn the heat off, leave them there to soak overnight, rinse and renew the water, then cook them for about an hour. Does that sound right? Sorry, I've spent the first 50 years of my life living on fast food and take-out. Can't do canned beans either, cuz they're too salty for me. But too broke to buy a slow cooker or a cast iron/ceramic pot. Have to figure it out with just a regular old stainless steel pot and a hotplate...Ghetto Gourmet, if you will...

Don't feel bad, before I found about about it I used to go to the last page and backtrack till I got to where I left off....then go forward again to read the posts.
I had a post it stuck on my screen with the last page number that I read!
That was UNCLE that changed our lives forever. Thanks Uncle! You da man! :thumb:

DITTO, except with a not so good memory (I suffer from a bad case of CRS) I tend to not remember where it was I last left off and with the "reply with quote feature" I always seem to find some post I missed even though I read the rest of the page? But this should help.
"Reply With Quote" is awesome, because you can just look at the quote you're replying to, click on the blue box with the arrows next to the poster's name, and it'll bounce you back to that post! Then you can just continue on with your reading. ;)

Sitting down, facing forward.
I just check my "settings" tab. It has all the conversations that have new postings that I've posted in and my list of "subscribed" forums. As far as the last page, I either use the "last unread" link or check the time on the first post on the top of the page until I get back to where I was last on, more or less. No I don't remember every time I was on, but it's close enough generally.

I found it was nice especially when I get a little behind in reading, so I see a question I could answer but want to make sure there hasn't already been 5 answers to it already before I reach the end.
Oh, you're much more polite than I am, Star! As you guys well know by now, I don't hold anything back!

Although I do find myself editing my posts a lot...best to wait a couple of minutes before "liking" anything I've posted! You might not "like" it as much after that!

When I've been behind in reading threads I have been remembering the page where I wanted to post an answer and then going back when I get to the end of the thread. I love knowing how to do it with the new window. I'm hopelessly stupid when it comes to the 'mechanics' of the ECF forum. Thank you very much for that information, Star. :)

My pleasure :)

Dang, why didn't I think of that. This might be a better solution than mine. :p I'll give it a try next time, thanks Cindy.

Here you go, Larry. Someone else posted this first, but I can't remember who...senior moment. :D

LOL! Oh that was cute!

I've not tried it but a couple SIL's were talking about it and one of them always puts in a splash of Vinegar (overnight soak) ... I'd be lost w/o the mighty crock pot ... :)

Guess I better sleep on the decision ... SO close to sayin' I'll keep 2 of them 4 legged beauty's out there! Safely eliminate the one that tried to pull mah butterscotch from the back pocket tho! :D

ETA: G'night and have a great day!

1stOfficer, to pick up where you left off, you can:
• bookmark the thread and click "Last Unread" at the top (directly above the first post) or
• Click on "What's New?," then "My Posts," then the thread, then "Last Unread."

I have the SI subforum home page bookmarked, and click on the bolded threads (the ones containing posts I haven't read yet), then click on "Last Unread."

...what I bookmarked from TK's post was the URL for Wizard Labs. ;)

I clicked Last Read but didn't see a selection for Cindycated's Posts? What am I doing wrong? :D

Wizard sells Nicotine, PG and VG from China (Dekang) might just as well buy the unflavored stuff from MadVapes. Just Sayin. I want to know that Sum Ding Wong didn't get the water out of the toilet or God knows where else or what else. I started mixing my own because after reading about what they were putting in our tooth past and other products I wanted to make sure if I am inhaling it I know what's in it... YIKES! Then there's the whole child labor thing which gives me pause on a couple of fronts.

Cindy, to cook dry beans, just rinse them well, and put them in water for the night, or about 8 hours. Cover them with plenty of water (you want the water to be almost twice as high as the level of the beans, as they will swell). Throw away the soaking water and add fresh for cooking. Salt and pepper are minimal seasonings; I like dried basil in my black-eyed peas. I never heard about the baking soda thing--I'd like to know if that actually works, and if so, why.

Good Morning Volties!

The next few days are going to be quite rainy, so I'm not making any outdoor plans. Isaac (the remnants) is knockin' on my door and the land is thirsty for the rain. So - bring it, Isaac. Do your stuff!

Having a lot of trouble with this sale. I can't exactly think of anything that I truly need or want so .... I'm just going to pass. That's right - you didn't hear incorrectly. I'm not getting anything!! The world must have shifted on its axis, and hell has frozen over!
