Matter of fact, I wish you were still going to New Hope to the Art Show so I could possibly see You & Your Art Work in person . . . I REALLY "like" what I saw of Your Paintings . . . Now if I could only afford One of Your Pieces for "My" Collection . . .

My paintings are so expensive that I can't afford them. I wish that I were still touring the wildlife art shows too. I miss the other artists. Man, we had some good times! I exhibited at a few other shows in that general part of the country. There was the Hawk Mountain Show in Kempton, PA, and the Basking Ridge show in NJ. I think that there may have been some others, but they all kinda blend together.

Aww - Thanks Raynes. Nature provides the artistry and the camera seems to know what it's doin' cuz I sure don't. I can't even make out for sure what's in the viewfinder. It's always kind of a surprise when I download them to the computer and find some good stuff.

Its your gift Rave to bring out Nature's artistry. You see things that most of us can't or we over look. Like the eye of the fawn on your avi. I don't know anything about photography but I bet very few photographers could capture that

Oh, I dunno Raynes. I know nothing about photography either. But I do see the beauty in nature - always. I can point my camera in the correct general direction and push a button or two. That's all I can do until I get my ability to paint back. But, thank you.

One trick of good photography that is ery simple is simply to take a LOT of pictures. It's not unusual for a professional photographer to take hundreds of photos of one thing and just keep one of them. Great photograpgy is an exercise in perseverence and patience. Having an eye for what will look good on film helps a lot, too, and Rave you do have that eye.

EDIT: BTW - Anyone else remember the 80's when it was fashionable to wear two watches on the same arm at the same time . . .

I've fooled with photography a little, had a nice 35mm setup but real film is a dead medium. My wife fooled with photography a lot more than I did and we have some great photos she took, and printed herself, when she worked in Manhattan. Neither of us is actaully a professional, but it is fun to take photos sometimes. I also used to play cameraman once in a while for athletic events back in the days of "closed circuit" TV. That was an outcropping of working in audio/video when small TV cameras were just coming out and 16mm film was still the king.

You'll paint again.My Grandmother started painting in her 60's.She loved it,she had Bell's Palsy so she painted holding her right hand with her left. Most of her paintings are landscapes.

That sounds like that would take a lot of work,patience,a good eye and timing.

I've done quite a bit of Photography over the years but lately I shoot mostly video. I've even had some of my pictures published in Easy Rider and Penthouse magazines, mostly nature type stuff not the Ansel Adams kind though but some very interesting pictures none the less. I'd be happy to post some but I suspect I would be banned from the ECF if I did...

It did give me a lot of respect for the guys on the cameras, especially at live events with lots of motion. It's really a hard thing to do, coordinate focus, zoom and content on the fly. In the "pro world" they have multiple cameras working and a production crew so it is a little easier, but those great action sequences can be a really hard thing to get on camera even then. In my case, I was a one man show but it was limited audience and amateur sports so it wasn't nearly as demanding or critical.

If you watch "March of the Penquins" on DVD there is a section that describes, and shows, what the photographers had to do to get those shots. They almost died of exposure during the blizzard sequence. My hat is off to all of those that do wildlife documentaries, besides being great photographers, they have the patience of Job and be in tip top physical condition as well.
