Whew thanks Uncle I knew you'd have the stuff we needed. I thought when Officer was talking about poking him with a stick he was talking about jousting so I broke out the cattle prod since I don't have a jousting sword

On a serious note, today the community held a street fair for any group that offers help to our Nations Heroes, our Veterans both past and present. As I have said in the past our Club only does two benefits a year both in support of the Wounded Warrior Project so today makes three for this year. This post may well be in violation of the rules so after some thought I decided it's importance out weighs not only the rules but if I get the boot so be it. With the Holiday Season rapidly approaching we took a vote today to donate our entire slush fund that is generally used for parties and such to the Christmas Fund for the Children of our Warriors who were either KIA, MIA or wounded beyond hope of ever being able to provide for their families again. The check was not near as much that is needed to try to help all the Kids locally to have presents to open on the 25th but we gave every dime we had, $10,475.00. We all also decided to each adopt one family to buy gifts for (just the Kids) and this will come out of each of our pockets. My Girls have even offered their gifts or the money we would spend on them to the cause, you have no Idea how much that meant to me and I may have even had a tear or two run down my cheek but if anyone ever brings it up I will deny it (you know the whole Man Card thing, can't be too careful).

Anyway the point of my post is this: When you are making out your Christmas/Hanukkah/or other gift list I ask/beg/implore you consider contacting your local Wounded Warrior Project as they are everywhere and give a gift to a child that may well have lost their Mother or Father to the defense of our freedom, I can promise you no greater gift can be given.

I have never in my life felt so proud as I did this afternoon standing with the Families and the selfless people that volunteer their time to making the WWP a reality. So I'm done and here's the link and I implore each of you to consider giving a donation no matter how big or small to the Families of the Hero's that have given all in defense of this great nation and our freedom. Home - Wounded Warrior Project Thank you in advance for your consideration of this worthy cause.

Wipes a tear, tips my stetson to ya,just don't have the words but I have a grin from ear to ear.

You all have a GREAT night, got to get ready for work. I went and got the pups from the vet, they are so cute and very shy.I've been watching them and Millie. Too cute. The first thing Millie did was grab her cat toys and move them to higher ground. She watches their every move. Maybe this will be good for Millie,IDK

I love Scrappy. She reminds me of the mother raccoon we had at the barn. Does she visit often?

She doesn't just visit. She literally lives less than 20 feet from my house. There is a hollow tree where she raises her kits every year. Sometimes during the day, she lounges in the opening in the sunlight. I think she lives so close because she wants to be the first to arrive when we yell "Here GDU's!" She's priceless.

Did your mother raccoon live in the barn?

@ "1st Officer" - May I have permission to repost Your story and request on another thread ?
I would really like to pass it along . . .

Sure you can but please understand we are nothing but a MC, thugs and outlaws some would say (some say even worse things) and we try to keep a low profile. We don't do these things looking for recognition or accolades. They are the Heroes and we hold our fellow Americans in the Armed Forces that wake up every morning willing to lay down their lives so we can remain free in the Highest Regard, so with that in mind post away.

Some-one's cat tried to adopt me today. A lovely persian chocolate brown one. I first discovered it when it suddenly came down from upstairs somewhere meeowing. Beautiful coat - some-one loves this cat. It kept purring loudly and wouldn't leave me.
Tried coaxing it out my front door. It would not leave my house.

I started having visions of being accused of catnapping. Finally got it outside and locked it out in the backyard. Checked later and it didn't come. As far as I know it isn't in my premises....

I feel like a cat magnet.

I was keeping an eye on the Itaste, and when they sold that first batch, I was following the comments on the forum...and then it seemed that everything fizzled. The comments dried up, and as far as I could tell, the Itaste didn't get restocked. I took it as a sign that more work was probably needed, and I quit paying attention. At the time, I was trying some liquids that responded better at higher temps.

Hi Awsum and Catlady - do you mean the new Inikon Itaste MVP? Have to say it is pretty tempting, and getting good reviews.

It is nice to give money in support of veteran's families and see yourself as doing something good.

But, you can do something free on Veteran's Day. Won't cost you a cent. Walk up to a veteran and say, "Thank you." If you didn't do that this year, there's always next.

I thank a Vet almost everyday, you see we have 15 or so Vets in the Club and our current Chapter President did two tours of Vietnam courtesy of a Judge in the local Criminal Court. He didn't get drafted he was given a choice of jail or the Army for getting his Girlfriend pregnant while she was still in High School (my how the laws have changed). Don't know if they still do that but back in the early to mid 70s they did it quite a bit. We have few Rangers a Green Beret or two and two members that are currently deployed in Afghanistan as we speak. Our last two National Presidents were both Special Forces in Desert Storm so our dedication to the WWP is not by chance but rather by design. Today we will be placing flags on the graves of some of our original (Founding Members) members who are interred at Arlington and then meeting up with several other Chapters for a ride around DC ending at the Wall because we need to get some new etchings for the clubhouse wall to replace some that were destroyed last summer when we had a small fire behind the bar where we have our own Memorial Wall with pictures and etchings of past Members or Family of Members who have passed on for one reason or another. Our Club was founded by 7 Veterans of the Korean conflict and Vietnam from Maryland and Northern Virginia in or about 1959 and although we have undergone a name change (thanks to the Federal courts) we are still the same Club. BTW, Happy Veterans Day:toast:

Oh - Since I know and have a couple of Friends that are also "Brothers" of Yours - I realized that You are not looking to be recognized or accolades for what was done . . . I just think it is a great cause and reason to mention it to others . . . You know - just passing the word . . . So Thanks for the permission to do so . . .:D

Sitting down, facing forward.
'Mornin everyone! I got to sleep late, my wife walked and fed Bo and I made it to almost 8 which is really unusual. Coffee is up already and ham and eggs are cooking right now, with egg bagels.

My quest for the iTaste continues. Our world is so "enlightened" that a Canadian vendor can't ship to the US, at least the vendor that has the iTaste in stock, and I was all set to "pull the trigger". Oh well.

Living where I do I get to say thank you to both Vets and current members of the Armed Forces every time I'm out and about. It may be just a nod of the head, or opening a door or paying for a cup of coffee but I,really appreciate and respect what they do, from the Rangers and Seals to the clerks. Without them it would be a vastly different world.

If I saw coyotes scouting around here I'd probably get the 30-30 out, then again it must be nice to live where you can see that. Brown bears have been sighted around here a few times, usually in the spring or early summer. To be honest, the wildlife has been here long before me, or anyone else for that matter, so leave them alone unless it becomes life threatening.

We really need the coyotes out here. They keep the rodent and deer populations down. One of the biggest problems that we have with wildlife management is that people keep killing off the predators. We lose our balance.
