Oh, I will, Reptilr,,,,,,,,

I'm just waiting on the doctor to confirm what we pretty much already know,,,,,,,,they think I have A.S. (Ankylosing Spondylitis).

It's a form of arthritis that causes extra bone to grow where it shouldn't,,,,,,,,it can cause the vertabra in your spine to "fuse" together, and it affects your joints too,,,,,,

I was pretty upset about it when he first told me he thought I had it,,,,,,,,,,,but there's treatments for it today, which they didn't have when my grandmother had it,,,,,,,,,,so I've become quite philosophical about it,,,,,,,,it's just another nuisance that needs to be treated, and they can't treat it until they know what it is,,,,,,,,,it's as simple as that,,,,

so we wait on the genetics test (they take FOREVERRRRRRRR) to see if I have the marker. And they took Xrays too.

Gee thats a lot to get your head around. Also though its good to see you are (how to say) keeping your spirits up and pioneering on.

So i hear the birdies chirping outside my window and thinking its just those confused birdies i sometimes get, I actually realize that they are right for once. The dawn is fast approaching, and I am going to go and get some snoozies.
See ya later Holly, but not before a big jug o coffee is brewed for the early ones that should be popping in soon. nite

You are BAD Joanne:)

Really Basilor, we are just teasing you. We on the SI forum would NEVER dine on a pet.

Hehe, I call it my version of disaster prepping. Between all the water in the tanks, pond, and aquariums, I should have enough to last a couple of weeks. As for food, the fish & shrimps first, then the tortoises, then I might eyeball the dogs.....just kidding!

Sheesh, these shrimp were cheap relatively speaking. If you explore that site, some of these can go for upwards of $100 ea or more.

For me, I got high quality shipped to me via priority mail for less than the crappy ones at local stores.

It is amazing how there are groups or markets for everything. I recently was looking for parts for a Sunbeam Mixmaster that my Mom has had since 1973. She bought a replacement but always talked about the old one which she had given to me to dispose of somehow. Found the parts, she was thrilled, but also discovered there are groups based around collecting these mixers, lol.

The tank those shrimp are in is on the bar top divider between the kitchen and family room. When I sit at the table I can turn around and that tank is within a foot of me.

BTW, if you think I am crazy with 17 tanks, pffft I am nothing. Most of the people in the forums of that site have 80+ tanks, many convert their whole basements. I should post a pic of one.

I really am sorry Basilor! After I wrote my response, I felt so bad about it. Truly, that is quite interesting! I knew lots of people had aquariums with a large variety of fish but I never knew people also had shrimp or other crustasions (sp?). That's one of the many things I like about this forum, learning many new things. Thank you for helping to enlighten me! Friends again?

Pffft I thought what you said was funny! No offense taken whatsoever.

aw Mark, you're so sweet,,,,,,,,,but sounds like you need my prayers more than I need yours,,,,,,,SEVENTEEN FISH TANKS????

I had one I couldn't keep up with LOL

I always wanted a salt water tank,,,,,those fish are SO pretty!

The secret is snails! I rarely have to deal with algae on the glass in any tank that has snails. And my tanks are overloaded with fish.

I had a salt water but ended up going back to fresh. Mostly exotic guppies, maybe I will post some pics sometime.

Check out the site I linked before AquaBid.com - Sell or buy aquarium equipment and fish in an auction format, almost every type of fish available. People would be amazed at the amount of live fish and animals transiting the country via USPS, UPS and Fed Ex at any given moment. Almost all the fish and shrimp in my tanks came from other breeders around the country that way. As far away as New York and FL to here in Phoenix. There are other sites that you can get reptiles & turtles, birds, almost anything.

It's a great feeling when you are successful getting something to breed.

Ok, I must go do water changes before work....really must get up from the comp and do them.....I can do it!..... I must!......

Hehe have a great day everyone!

I think Basilor was really just teasing, JoAnn :)

I hope so...

Hope you feel better soon Holly. That sounds like a lot to deal with from day to day.

When you were talking about peppermint bark, I thought it was an eliquid  Lord! That candy really looks good. I love chocolate and mint.. and that has crushed peppermint on top! I'm glad that you posted the link because I would like to order some for Christmas.

you can make it much more cheaply,,,,,,

it's easy, quick, tastes delicious, and lends itself to many, many varieties using more than one kind of chocolate :)

I love to make it in white chocolate (add a blurb of oil to the melting chocolate and always use REAL peppermint extract,,,,,), sprinkle the candy canes and dried chopped up cranerries on top, then when it's done and set, I drizzle dark chocolate on top of the whole mess,,,,,,,

unbelievaly delicious!

Well you asked. This is NOT my basement, I pulled this photo a long time ago from a thread on a fish forum.

This however is a photo of one of my guppies, unfortunately he passed but did produce offspring:

This year I seem to be getting into reds, last year it was purple.

Ok, enough about me, everyone go back to what you were doing....nothing to see here...please keep moving......lol.

Basilor, That guppie is very pretty! It doesn't look like the guppies I've seen at our local pet store. They are very teenie tiny and almost transparent.

I had thought about getting one of those Japanese fighting fish called bettas. They are truly beautiful and come in so many extraordinary colors. Only one can be kept in a tank because they would kill each other. That's when I decided against it. It just doesn't seem right to only have one fish. Are you familiar with those?
