Gee, and I begged for a pair of saddle shoes. Finally, my mom got them for me to wear to school. I was in heaven, being suddenly stylish. Of course, that was upper elementary school. By high school, I think they were out of vogue. I think then penny loafers were in.

I still like penny loafers.

Since they are little... what about big crayons and a BIG coloring book. All little kids love those. A word of warning though... make sure you get each of them the same book. One time I made the mistake of getting each one a different book. There was war in my living room that year! The same book for each promotes peace and occupied them for quite some time.

I got them the gifts already. Wrapped most of the Christmas gifts today -- a rainy day, perfect for it. They get plenty of coloring books, etc. I wanted to give them something their parents might not think of, like the old-fashioned toys I played with, since their parents are much, much younger than me. I did get them different things, though. Maybe some arguments, but I notice they play with the toys in general. It's not like ownership is a big deal at their age.

If Uncle is out there, I want to say that I did get "And Then There Was Tango," inspired by his contest some time ago. He had a contest celebrating Gay Week, or something like that. I went there and learned so much! And one of the things I learned was that there was this innocent children's book banned from libraries! It's because 2 male penguins in the Central Park Zoo, NYC, raised a baby penguin from an egg! A true story. But people said it was teaching children to be homosexuals! It was banned. I couldn't resist. I love the forbidden, especially when it's so innocent!

And on another track, I've been remembering songs from eons ago. Here's the latest, which I sang to myself today while wrapping gifts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbQuYgPrM0khttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbQuYgPrM0k

When this song was popular, I remember some oldster (probably younger than I am now) telling me it was nothing new, it was an old song, so I researched it, and it was part of a Broadway play, but I couldn't find that version on YouTube, and this is the one I knew, anyway. Beautifully sung. How many popular singers of today can carry a tune, much less reach the range this guy did. Though, I must say, Roy Orbison probably has him beat.

We always have Uno. It's a staple at most family gatherings. We always need two decks though. Adults have their table because they can play too cutthroat for the kids... and CHEAT! So there is a more family friendly table set up as well. Bottom line... Uno ROCKS!

I'd be at the family-friendly table, even if I didn't have kids there. I can't stand cheating, and who needs cutthroat? When I was about 12 and played badminton in the backyard with neighbor kids, the idea was not to win but to count how long we could keep a volley going. This is my idea of the way to live. I'm more into cooperation than competition. I was like that then, when I never even thought about it, and I'm still like that.

Actually when I play with the kids, I'm the one that gets ganged up on! No cheating though.
In my family, at some point the women play bingo (in the dining room), the men play poker (in the garage), and the kids play Uno (sprawled out on the stairs). Then there's the Karaoke showdown (in the living room). Kinda routine now, no matter whose house we end up in. Everybody knows where to go.

Sounds very nice. I know where to go too. People are always telling me where I can go. People are so helpful!

I might go where you do, though I might dabble in the karaoke, if it suited me. I'd rather sing along with people, though. Believe it or not I never tried karaoke!

Holly, the tanks are not an SI product, and I probably shouldn't name any names here. If you search for "DCT tank" you'll find a bunch of places that have them. I'm not sure, but I don't think I ever found any for an 808 cartomizer. If you buy the longer DCT tanks you'll have to buy the SI XL cartos. Or buy the shorter DCT tank that fit the SI regular cartos. This is what they look like:

View attachment 158017

A hole is made near the bottom of the carto and that feeds juice to the carto. You fill the carto with juice and then push the carto into the tank but not all the way. Then fill the tank with juice and finally pushing the carto in so that it lays somewhat flush with the top and bottom. Add a drip tip and you're off vaping. This works best on the manual X2 batteries. A few powerless draws (don't push the button), and you'll get the air pressure right so that the juice in the tank feeds the carto.

This means less time filling your carto and more time vaping. The cartos seem to last longer with this method. As you can see, if you're going to vape this way, you must like vaping with a cartomizer.

I might not have explained all this well. If you have questions, I'll gladly answer them. Also a "DCT tank" search on google will pick up some videos to watch.

There are a number of different ways to put the hole (or two) in the cartomizer. There are a number of products sold for carto hole punching. I just use a 1/4" saddle valve that I bought at Home Depot. Often times the vaping vendors sell you a tank with a dual coil cartomizer. It's kind of a waste because you're not going to use that carto. You're going to be using SI's. If you look, you'll find vendors that just sell the tank and end caps.

I love SI's cartomizers. They are really good. And this gives me a way of vaping with the SI cartomizer without constant re-filling.

I hope I didn't confuse you.

not at all, you helped tremendously :) thanks,,,,I have some research to do now :)

OK, more old-time music -- though it seems just yesterday to me. Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale with Lyrics - YouTube

I liked this because the instrumental part reminds me of Bach, which I'm partial to. I remember my boyfriend at the time got a demo record from a DJ friend, and I think it was just the instrumental of this, not the voice. I was entranced! I wish I still had that record.

I have an entire collection of albums that I can't play now. Still have a turntable... but don't have a needle. The shame of it... Today because of our trip down memory lane, I had to pull them out and just look at them... can't play any... just look at them...

That's why we would give that group their own table. ;)

Can't you get a needle? Did you look online? That's a sin and a crime, if you can't. But you can have them transferred to CD? I haven't tried it, but there are lots of places that'll do it.

So, on with the music. This one entranced me IRON BUTTERFLY - IN A GADDA DA VIDA - 1968 (ORIGINAL FULL VERSION) CD SOUND & 3D VIDEO - YouTube when I spent a weekend alone. I got the album -- gone now -- and loved it. I hear they were probably progenitors of heavy metal. I can see it. Can you? Bues, are you with me, or did I lose you as we get more into hardcore?

Hadn't even though about it until our trip down memory lane today but I'm sure I could. In reality, they wouldn't even sound that good now... that scratchy background noise that I didn't notice back in the day. I do have a collection of old school on CD's that I listen to now. I still won't get rid of those albums though. Back in storage for them.

Good evening!!!!!! Hope everyone is having a great day :) running around like a nutcase getting ready for tomorrow evening,,,,,,the first night of Hanukkah :)

Latkes anyone???///

Happy Hanukkah! I miss working with the Jewish folks every Friday night and on holidays! We used to serve them the Shabbat Shalom Friday night dinner, but now I'm lame, and I haven't been there in months. This is the Orthodox Jewish center for Cornell Univ., which is called 104 West, the address. I loved the mayhem and singing after dinner, even when we had to peel tablecloths away from under their elbows to get the stuff cleared, while they sang old songs in Hebrew or Yiddish. We had a man who was in charge of making sure everything was kosher, Hillel, who was very educational about what the holidays meant and even gave me a book to read with the stories. He went back to Israel, and I never had such a rapport with the guy who replaced him. So, when I think of Jewish celebrations, my vibes go out to Hillel, who was such a friendly, whacky guy! Happy Hanukkakah, everyone!

My husband got this: Amazon.com: ION Profile LP Vinyl-to-MP3 Turntable: Electronics

Turn the songs (or albums) into mp3s and then listen on your computer/ipod/tablet/cd....whatever is convenient for you.
