Morning :)

......a party at Chucky Cheese (My idea of a living hell),,,,,,,will catch up with y'all later this weekend :)
on my way out the door!

Chucky Cheese, Chucky Cheese, YUM LOL:facepalm:

Hope the party went well. Happy Hanukkah and Happy Birthday to your granddaughter.

My wife and I had our two oldest grandsons for an overnight. Went to several Christmas Light displays, let them soak in the hot tub and stayed up way past our bedtime watching TV and talking. We are exhausted today.

Everyone probably remembers "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," which was a hit in the '60s and was in the movie, "The Lion King," but did you know the full story? It's fascinating: The Lion Sleeps Tonight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So this song was actually Solomon Linda's, and here's the original version: Solomon Linda&The Evening ( The First Version ) - Mbube - YouTube

Then came the Weavers with Pete Seeger: The Weavers-Wimoweh - YouTube

Finally, the Tokens with the version that's most well-known: The Tokens - The lion sleeps tonight - YouTube

It's fun to see the evolution of this song.

E-Cig Commercial Reclaims Freedom - The Rush Limbaugh Show

Love Limbaugh or hate him, you might want to read this. This article is a positive on e-cigs. The commercial is inbedded in the article and it's a pretty good commercial. I remember Stephen Dorff from that first Blade movie.

Oh and the ad is for Blu e-cigs. Well, nothing's perfect. lol

Raven has been struggling the last few days. That said, her spirit and sense of humor were bright and stong. Both of us have a tendency to keep each other informed about how we're struggling to get through a particular time, and then moving on with humor and... well... let's just call it "private discussions."

She thinks the world of you folks. Your friendship is respected and appreciated by Raven. You are like family to her. Raven will be back here as soon as she can. Things are just a drain on her right now. But know that she thinks about all of you and asks about all of you.

Hello Volties.
Thanks for all the tasty treats today. Hit the spot.
It's been a busy day, shopping & sorting through Christmas lights and decorations. Trying to get most of the outside done while the weather is surprisingly warm today. Just resting a bit before plunging back into it... Will check in later today. Ta ta for now... ;)

Hey There -
7519-Yellow-Waving-Smiley-1-4.gif

Nice to see everyone is getting along and doing fairly well . . . :D

However, I sure do miss "Rave's" post - however THANKS YOU "Blues" for keeping "Us" all updated and passing along "Our" messages to "Rave". . .
(BTW: Pm coming your way soon about Farm . . . :) )

So many post and so much to say given the topics, but this is going to be short & sweet . . .

@ "TK" - "Our Own Little Rodent" - really good to see you posting and that you found another" Friend," especially from down under . . . NICE ! ! ! :)

@ "abracadebra" - So GLAD to see you finally got your avatar posted . . . NICE ! ! ! :D

@ Those interested in the "eGo Twist" and "Tanks" . . . Although I do not use the twist and prefer to manly use SI X2 - I have found 2 really great vendors for these items . . . One who sells the "Twist" in varing colors for the lowest price out there and currently has a sale on them (normally $22.00 and on sale for $19.95 I think) and another who sells what I have found to be the best "Tank" so far for "Me" that is very easy to fill since these have a "Screw" access to them called the "Sidewinder" - both in a non-cracking "Polycarbonate" and "Pyrex" models . . . although you will need a 808 - 510 connector to us them on SI products . . . Just PM "Me" - if you are interested in these and I will send you link to their websites . . .

Okay - That's it for "Me" back to lurking . . .

I'm getting worried. Raven has had episodes like this before, but this seems to be going on longer than I ever remember. Are you sure she's OK, Blues?

That was a really good song, Awsum. I never figured it out. I mean, leaving the cake out in the rain.

Well, there's no way to really tell just what "someone left the cake out in the rain" means by itself. But if you include the surrounding lyrics, to me anyway, it seems like he's lamenting a love that is lost or gone wrong and will never have the opportunity to regain it or a love like it. (Can't believe I'm waxing that romantically about MacArthur park) Another interesting fact is that Jimmy Webb wrote the album, A Tramp Shining, on the plane on the way to California to record it. Talk about creativity under pressure.

Richard Harris was quite a "partier" and I heard a story where he and Pat MacCormick, the big Irish guy, both got arrested for D&D one Saint Patty's Day in New York City. It seems they were chasing one another down the street after imbibing a bit too much and tripped and fell......they tripped over the light bar on top of the police car they were chasing each other over.

Hi Blues, tell Raven to get better. If she makes it out to the Reno area, I have the perfect therapy for her. Riding in a cart with a cute little horsey pulling us around the neighborhood:)

I took the little guy out of his pen, walked him a bit and then I went for some desensitization. Today was brown crinkly wrapping paper. Tomorrow, pie tins. He needs to settle down and not be afraid. He has done a lot better on the bucking since I put my foot down and said "No more".

Thanks for that post, Sandy. I knew that the Tokens didn't want to do the song originally, but never knew that it was originally written in 1939. That's amazing! As was the case unti relatively recently, the original writer got very little for the work as well. It was really great to see the song evolve into what the Tokens did and the little tidbits about how the lyrics developed. Another classic great of Pop music.

I heard Limbaugh do that bit the other day on his show (yeah, I'm a Limbaugh fan). It will be interesting to see how the whole thing develops regarding e-cigs and how they get regulated. I will say I'm happy I'm in at "the ground floor", before the regulation and taxing get started. Now, I have to build up a good inventory of liquids, or their component parts anyway, and delivery systems to play it safe. Sort of like prepping for "vaping doomsday".

Unfortunately at the moment, Blu is the only one with enough bucks to run any kind of serious ad campaign.

One thing Penny is not afraid of is plastic bags. That's because I often bring treats to the barn in them -- apples or carrots. When she hears a plastic bag crinkle, she licks her chops. Maybe something like that would work for you?

Doggonnit, now I'm gonna have to pull out all the Donna Summer albums again.

Blues, someone explained this to me once, on a drunken night at a bar after a gig: The guy who had written the song just got dumped and MacArthur Park was where they used to have lunch. Rain = tears; if the park was like a giant cake (with green icing) and you drenched it with water, what would happen? It would kind of melt, right? ;) Then the rest of it becomes obvious: doom and gloom, the guy thinks he'll never meet another girl to hang out at the park with again. So the joyful park experience is all gone. Oh nooooo!

Awesome. Best instrumental ever! That part of it was used in a Teena Marie (my favorite singer) song as well, which makes me love it even more.

slugging coffee on my way out the door!

When my kids were younger I used to call it "Upchuck Cheese". You ever try to eat what they pass off as pizza? I found a pint of JD prior to the outing helped my "headache" quite a bit.
