You could leave a few red firecrackers around (like the cartoons lol) with a strike match. When he pulls it out and takes it to the nest he will get a new haircut and never do it again :D :D

ACK!! Bad Konstantine! Bad! trouble.gif

Here's a classic funny story about the hoarding ability of pet squirrels. Susan E. Garlinghouse, DVM horse management articles and lectures Click on the 8th one down, the famous squirrel beet pulp story.

Ohmygosh! That's freakin' hilarious! Thanks Sandy.

Funny too that William liked to hide in her shirt. I wore shirts or Bajas with a continuous front pocket to keep the squirrels warm and cozy .... but ... they preferred my bra. Which made for some interesting looks from people when they started to cry for a feeding. I can totally relate to the gal looking around - mystified - as if the noise wasn't coming from her. The sugar gliders, when they were joeys, always headed for the cleavage too.

Here's your winter scene for the day. This was taken behind a local bed-and-breakfast, in their wooded backyard.

Absolutely STUNNING!

I must confess that is me. I've cut down on the amount... but can't go without it totally. My tastebuds are for salty rather than sweets. I can do without cakes, cookies, candy but not salty foods. It's like my body craves it and I KNOW it's bad for me.

Try getting the book, Cooking Without a Grain of salt. See Amazon.com: Cooking Without a Grain of Salt (9780553579512): Elma W. Bagg, Susan Bagg Todd, Robert Ely Bagg: Books and read the reviews. I used this book a lot, and the food tastes great with a lot less salt. The idea is that if you add herbs and spices to food, it has enough flavor that you don't need salt. The recipes aren't bland and tasteless as it would be if you used the recipes you're used to and just omitted the salt. Of course, we do need some salt in our diet, but we eat so much more than is necessary. I also use other recipes and do use salt, but I've found that when cooking, you can use things like garlic powder instead of garlic salt and not notice the difference in the final dish.

Never looked at it that way... great idea! *Getting a revelation moment here* That very well could be the reason that I can't adjust to food without salt... cooking the recipes that I normally cook. Will definitely look for this one... hope it's on Kindle.

Update: Not on Kindle but I'm getting it anyway. Thanks SandySu!!

Well... I just finished reading an excerpt from this book. This is the beginning of this new year and I'm going to start the process of ridding my body of salt. No wonder I crave it! One thing... I stopped eating take out a while ago and never really cared for deli meats including "low sodium" lunch meats. Even for me, they are too salty. Now that's scary!

We got salt basically out of our diets as well while we worked on the carb thing. I don't miss it at all and had no blood pressure or water retention issues before I did it. Now, I find I enjoy food for the natural taste of the food, not for the taste of the food with salt on it or in it. Heck, we don't even add salt to the water to boil whole wheat pasta. We still do Chinese take-out every now and then, and it does taste salty to both of us, and we both still put salt on an ear of corn. I still like a tiny bit of salt on French fries, and eat them about once every six months, and I still use salt and pepper on a steak but don't eat that very often at all. After getting off of salt on and in everything, it's amazing how good foods taste without it and how salty prepared foods have become as result of not using it. When we go out to dinner, restaurant or someone's home, we both end up drinking a ton of water from the salt in the foods.

Have you tried corn on the cob w/o salt and butter? If you get that wonderful sweet corn, I think it tastes even better without anything on it. One great way to cook corn with added flavor is to grill it in the husk. When you cook outdoors, just lay the corn on the coals and turn it when one side blackens. When it's blackened all over, remove it from the coals and remove the husk carefully -- it's very hot! The husk lends a wonderful, interesting flavor to the corn.

Nookie. Do they still use that word, or is it just us aged folks?

Everytime Awsum posts, I learn something. We should gather all his posts and build some kind of "Awsumpedia."

Exercise. Definetly do what you are able to do.

Food. Eat the good stuff. If you like sweets, make sure it's sugar. High fructose corn syrup is a killer. Just remember, moderation. Slowly reduce salt, and in no time you won't even like it anymore. Kind of like cigarettes.

Beans. Very good. Rinse thoroughly. Chew thoroughly. This is one of those organic things that is worth the extra money.

Debra and White Rabbit are a blast together. (Just don't tell Rabbit's wife.)

I'm on physical therapy break right now. I get to eat a wonderful hospital lunch. When you're thinking about going out to eat, do you ever consider going to the hospital for dinner? Do you see what I mean?

Rest and more PT this afternoon. I'm hoping I get out of here this weekend.

You folks are fun. I love to sit and read through this thread. I hope soon I can join all of you more regularly.

Thanks for your thoughts, prayers, and care.

Blues, it's so wonderful to hear from you again! I loved your comment about going out to eat at the hospital. I'm still sending vibes that you recover quickly and get to go home soon.

While i was looking at fun squirrel videos, I came across several that showed squirrels attacking snakes. I never knew that happened. It must be because snakes prey on baby squirrels, so the adults try to drive the snakes away. Here's one example. Bull Snake Against Squirrel - YouTube

And I read how ground squirrels heat up their tails and wave them to distract rattlesnakes when they fight with them. The snakes are attracted by heat, so they go for the tails, not the squirrel's body, and I guess it's a lot easier to get the tail out of the way of a strike by the snake.

So much interesting stuff on the Internet!

Blues, keep up the PT, at least as much is as safe. That's what'll get you out of the horsepistol and back to your old self again the fastest. It is good to see you're on the mend and getting back to normal! Yes, we all have you in our thoughts and hope that helps, too.

I am glad you get a kick out of my flirting, thats all it is BTW. I also read the "Forum Rules", and after some of my recent posts, it is a wonder I haven't been kicked right off of here. I must tame down my jokes a bit, even though the group "seems" to enjoy my wit, a bit!

You know we all are wishing you the VERY BEST! Get Well and Healthy once more, and enjoy that hospital food!

I understand they recalled your Apple Juice this morning, there was a mixup in urology:thumb:

That does look like a Christmas card! :)

I agree. Sandy, those pics are gorgeous, especially that one of the church. And this might be weird, but I really like the one of the boar. LOL, I could easily see that on one of those humor greeting cards.

People were recently talking about seeing everyone who posts here, and I remember that Rave made us a collage of all the folks who sent her photos of themselves. Rave, do you feel up to doing that again? It sure was fun to see everyone back then, and now there are so many new people, it would be nice to see them, too. I'm going to try to get someone to take a picture of me with my new haircut, and I'll post it here when it happens. In fact, I want to get one of me in my poncho, too, for you all, even though all that's old news by now.

Bill wants to take photos with my digital camera -- I have an old PowerShot that I no longer use much since I got my new one, so I ordered another date/time battery for it, since that seems to have given out. While teaching him to use the camera, maybe he'll take some of me in my poncho. This is contingent on the new battery solving the problem of being unable to set the date/time in that camera. If not, then I'll ask him to use the new camera. So maybe sometime next week, I'll have a photo to post. I really should get my hair trimmed, though. Now that it's short, I need to do that every month or so. This is the major reason I let my hair grow so long.

The reason I ask is when I started vaping I wanted something as close to looking like a cigarette as much as possible. If you are new to vaping you made a GREAT choice going with SI and Volts.

That's a very long-suffering cat. Mine would have hissed and swatted in about 2 seconds. That pup would have been put in his place instantly. Actually, maybe my cat would have run under a piece of furniture and hidden himself, since he's not used to dogs. Now I'm wondering what he would have done.
When I saw that video I instantly thought of Blue and his farm. I'll be so glad when Blues gets home,I miss his farm animal stories. The cat in the video also reminds me of my cat Millie when I brought home three pups that were abandoned on the side of the road. Millie can't stand other cats but she took those pups right in and helped me with them until they were healthy and luckily I was able to find homes for them.
Animals never cease to amaze me,their capacity to love even between different species.
