MONSTER BLIZZARD That is all that is on TV around here and we did not even get snow. Sorry for those people who may be having problems, but one newscaster (obviously needing something else to say about snow) says many people were caught off guard!

Caught off guard? How anyone could have been caught off guard when it has been on TV, Radio, and everywhere for days in advance is beyond me.

Keep warm friends.

Well, SandySu, I have to keep my sense of humor about the getting sore from doing what I love, working hard physically!

The halter is on the big side but I am thinking about keeping it. It is Weanling 200 to 300 pounds. It fits pretty good but I am on the smallest link. Hubby can punch me a new hole for the nose band to size a bit smaller if I want. It isn't actually bad to have an bit of an over sized halter with you when you are driving since if you have a problem on the road you can throw the halter on over his bridle rather quickly.

I might go ahead a pick up a Pony sized [I think that was the next size down]. Anyway, I might go ahead and pick up a next size down in the blue color as well for summer wear. They were only $15 and I like having good gear.

I agree. How could someone miss the fact that snow was in the forecast? We have plenty of snow. Usually, we get the biggest snowfall of the winter sometime in March, but last winter, we had it at the end of February, though that snowfall was nothing extraordinary since last winter we had very little snow. I wonder if this is our Big One or if we'll get more in March. You never can tell with the weather, can you?

BTW, again, it looks like it has nearly stopped snowing -- just a few stray flakes floating around. I think there must be about 6 inches out there. Not enough to stop Bill's car this morning, so I guess it's not a snow emergency. I'd go out and get some photos, but it's very cold out there. I'll probably stay in all day.

Like I said, you can never have too much tack. The one problem with that is if it's leather, whether or not you're using it, you have to keep it conditioned and cleaned. I suppose you are buying nylon halters, though, so you don't have to worry about that. My favorite brand of nylon halter is Hamilton. See if you can get one of those. They are much better quality, and the hardware on them is really good.

Oh, yes. While you're buying another halter, look at longe whips. You'll need one sooner or later, and they do come in handy. I got one in that fluorescent yellow, because I noticed that if I tossed it on the ground, some colors blended in so well I had to hunt for it. Get one that's a nice, visible color. Also, it's just a theory, but I believe horses respond better to lighter colors. Before I bought my longe whip, I was using a black one. It worked, but when I got this yellow one, Penny really perked up and responded more. There was a definite difference. Linda Tellington-Jones thinks horses respond to white whips better than dark ones, and maybe she's right.

It is a Hamilton and I do like the quality. It is nylon since he doesn't wear a halter constantly [I would never leave it on him in the pen] I think nylon is fine. I have to leave it out in the weather since I leave it on a hook near his gate on the pen. That way if there is ever an emergency, a neighbor or Hubby could get find the halter to get it on him!!!!!

Of course, his bridle is leather and that reminds me, I should get out the saddle soap and make sure the leather gets a good cleaning.

I will look for a lunge whip. A bright color is a good idea.

Glad to hear you did not get "feet" of snow anyway. I bet those people up North in Canada are just laughing and calling us "weenies". They get twice the amount of snow as we do and folks in Alaska just ignore us altogether.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Konstantine, that was a storm a few years ago. Baltimore didn't get anything. We got about four inches here in "beautiful" south central New Jersey. Just finished with the shovel and snow blower, the roads are clear.

You know Rabbit, I'd agree with you, but (there always is a but or is that ....?), just before Sandy visited this fall we called my wife's nephew out on Long Island. He had no clue a hurricane was coming, let alone ho bad it might be. He's a pretty sharp guy but NEVER listens to the news, just sports. There you have it, the case for people that have no clue.

Remember a little while ago, we were talking about doing laundry and static cling, and I said I had heard that if you put a ball of aluminum foil in the dryer with the clothes, it stops static cling? Well, I tried it today on a load of laundry, and it does work. I made a ball not absolutely tightly squashed together, about halfway between the size of a ping-pong ball and a tennis ball, and when I took the clothes out and folded them, yes, there was a little static, but not anywhere near as much as usual. Maybe I need more aluminum foil to do the job completely, so I just made another ball about the same size and tossed that in the dryer for next time. This is amazing, but I'm sure there's a scientific explanation for it. And think: aluminum foil that can be used again and again -- probably for years -- is a lot cheaper than those dryer sheets, which I won't use because they irritate my skin.

ROLFMAO I can just hear some one calling the news station complaining to the forecaster " LOOK ,you said a blizzard was coming ,here I got out all 15 generators, went to the store bought 15 gals of milk, 20 loafs of bread, 30 family packs of toilet paper and all we got was a few flakes." Now you TELL me who is going to put ALL these generators BACK in the garage? !!!

They certainly have good prices, Raynes. I think I'll buy him the next size down when I am in town and then, if it doesn't fit him well, I'll think about trying the mini horse halter they have.

So awhile back the i phone went insane and had like 100's of megabytes of overages. I called and ATT took off the overages but their advice didn't work. We finally got the phone to stop with the super megabytes by turning off every hidden cellular data thingey we could find. I just got off the phone with ATT and they agreed to take the extra $45 off this month's bill. Along with the overage charges of $90 last month they already took off. Sometimes it pays to make a phone call, deal with the push button menu! $135 saved but I still don't actually know why the phone went insane.

I called BOA about my credit card and I was definitely talking to some nice person in India.

I think I'll go sort through my vaping and DIY stuff and see if I need another gear box by now:)

Which is why people don't heed the warnings when it's truly bad.

The other thing that gets me, is when all the warnings say stay inside because of the storm, and they send people out to stand in it provide coverage. I think one of these days someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed. Then the media will go into a frenzy of "self" examination over sending reporters into dangerous situations.

Well, just got up (I work semi-night shifts so my daytime hours are kinda shifted) drinking a cup of coffee and about to take a shower. Then I plan to inventory what I have in shirts. And as usual I just got a message they want me to come in 2 hours early, but I think I will tell them I can't.

Here is my morning creation thanks to Lizzie's recipe on her blog. Made 30ml of it. Yummy! I also used a 5ml medicine dropper (the kind they use for kid medicines) that I bought from the grocery store. Wow, does it make the job easier. No VG problems with that baby!
