Reading the book description, I'm intrigued but not enough to pay $23 for the Kindle edition. I like horror stories, but I think this would really keep me up at night!

Just the thought of them considering walnuts to be classified as an illegal drug.....

I wasn't paying attention to the price when I bought it. It's a big book, but very informative about the inter workings of the FDA.

There are people who think the sound of frogs is relaxing and can put you to sleep. Maybe playing this video while you go to sleep would help. The live frogs might blend in. Relaxing Sounds of Frogs... One Hour of Soothing, Medititive Sounds of Nature - YouTube However you do it, sleep tight.

this person cant handle frog croaks!! crickets !! ticking clocks...dripping taps...I need total quiet to sleep...no music....I have a big supply of ear plugs....been this way....forever.....I love my music....but theres no lullabies that will put me to sleep...im like a cat..sleep with one eye open...

I'm with you all the way on this one. Need total quiet. I don't even have to hear hubby snoring anymore. He has sleep apnea and has a machine with a mask, that is totally quiet. Blessed silence at last! :)

I'm reading an interesting book called Inside th FDA: The business and politics behind the drugs we take and the food we eat: Inside the FDA: The Business and Politics Behind the Drugs We Take and the Food We Eat: Fran Hawthorne: Amazon.com: Kindle Store This isn't the first time the FDA has done this.

I started asking myself why they are doing it. Maybe you can share some insights from the book. I wondered if they don't have enough to do there at the FDA and are afraid of being laid off if they don't show they are busy. Did they tend to do this kind of thing in the past when layoffs might happen, when economic times were hard, and people were complaining about having their taxes raised? Although you'd think if enough of this stuff happens, the FDA is going to have someone take a close look at them. I realize they have to guard against false advertising, but this is carrying things to an extreme.

Time to say good night. Another photo, this one of vineyards and Seneca Lake in the background, and some fall foliage near the lake.

Very pretty, SandySu.

Good night. I'm going to bed soon myself. Hubby is safely tucked into his hotel after a nice dinner at Ivers Seafood. Going to Seattle does have its benefits. One thing I do miss is fresh seafood.

Big plans for tomorrow. The greenhouse needs some work to get it ready for spring and I have to get the seed starting stuff organized. Hopefully the wind will not be back so I can play with my little horsey:) He's so cute in his shed sheltering from that chilly wind. The 4' high plywood on the sides makes him look even tinier than he really is.

I'll have the coffee on early:)

Yeah that is simply stupid. But remember you placed them there. We also made mistakes with out politicians etc..

Roland here is a new video for you Testing Bigger batteries - YouTube bigger batteries :D

That is some battery array! When I worked for Westinghouse, a long time ago, we tested our inverters, 125VDC/120VAC@100 amps, using load banks. We didn't need toasters, toaster ovens or microwaves to heat lunch with! Then I supplied security for a Bell Telephone switching station in the 80's. They had a battery "room" that was actually an entire floor of the building, about a 75 meter square, to maintain phone service during power outages. My last gig had a 100KW generator that was tested monthly. The guys pulled up with a load bank on a trailer, ran six or eight 3/0 cables for each pole from the generator to the load bank, fired up a six cylinder engine that ran the cooling fan, then fired up the generator. The output air stream had to be well over 100 degrees F.

Here it is from the horse's mouth, the FDA itself: Diamond Food Inc. 2/22/10

No offense Sandy, but I think you got the wrong end of the horse there :)

The whole purpose of a governmental agency is to expand itself, exponentially if possible to justify its own existence. Ever notice how agencies and programs seem to live on and expand even if their original purpose no longer exists? It seems to be an ingrained thing in government overall. Time has made it worse as they just keep expanding, unchecked, as we ask for more protection or "free stuff" from the government.

Good Morning - Coffee is on!!!

Well, I'm not opposed to having a government but the FDA should be working for the good of the populace and they certainly seem to have forgotten that fact!!!

Yes, I am up too early but I might be able to call my handsome guy before he leaves for the plant. He has to be there at 5:30am.

Mornin Voltville!
Couldn't sleep so I caught up w/ y'all ....
Tappa talk is nice but needs one HUGE tweak: access to the "LIKE" button!

Sandy- (nuts, went blank) that tail contraption for SB show horses ... did that come about to replace "knicking" or tis it just another option from the bag o' tricks? Just don't care for that gaited business.
Yes, that's exactly how I learned to ride! Has your therapist given any suggestions / approval for building arm strength to luft the saddle? Do you still ride English? I have a bone chip in my ring finger as a reminder of my close contact saddle & having my wedding set cut off. After a quick rein repair walking back home to get her, we got a little further from home ... then we went over backwards - thanks to a neighbors dog. Got our money back on her. No way I believe she was rode in a parade. Everything seemed terrifying to her. My Arab stallion was a worn out plow horse in comparison.
I was surprised to see that the Aussie Oilskins haven't gone up that much from 1990! One of a few things sorta wish I'd kept ... Another great pic of you two! Thanks for sharing! (Hint hint Perchi lady!)

Tail- glad you're surviving the pups ... err -Umm - your book. It's all politics. Amazing the head of the FDA is reportedly a former suit from Monsanto. While they only serve organic in their cafateria - they know best- we need GMO.
Another eye opening book is "The Franklin Cover-up" by John DeCamp $10.

Raynes! Shall I send a truckload of hip waders or cut to the chase and send pontoons?! Flotation bladders for the 'kids'?
Glad you're perkin up! Fur-Kids are ok - hope things work out this coming weekend to get a couple more gates up to seperate them a little. Sultan dropped a little weight - he doesn't "fight" Molly when she hones in on his bucket ... They also turned their collective noses up at one bale that looked so good - turns out it was canary grass. :( At the time I thot was "lasting' so long bcs of feeding inside with the nasty windchills. Are you able to do much w/ so many rainy days?

Kon: according to the wx channel - you may need some pontoons as well! Stay dry! I hear water & electricity can be hair raising!

Hope everyone has a fan-tab-u-lous day! Mom has her other eye sugery this morning, this afternoon maybe plumbing 101-2!
I pack fruit a couple days this week. Going to need those Spring hours, LOL - to pay yesterday's hay & grain bill! Wowsers! :D

Roland this is a small to medium array rated 240V and 1000Ah. For a 100kVA UPS used only as a backup for small loads. We generally work on large systems (3300Ah and more) and generators of all kinds but we usually work at big ones (450kVA up to 5MW) Example: 400kVA generator startup DOOSAN V8 engine - YouTube This is a kinda small on a roof of a building. I think i have a better version video of this genset starting up somewhere.

btw i think i have an eye infection but i repaired it using cortizones. :D

At that Bell switching facility they also had a 500kw turbine powered generator. They literally built the room around the generator after it was installed, then completed the building. They NEVER tested it prior to completing the building. The big day came and when they fired it up the turbine went to pieces. Luckily, no one was in the room when it let loose and it was a total loss. So they had to replace it. Guess what, it wouldn't fit out the overhead door. They had to tear out a wall to get it out and the replacement in. Just as a backup, they kept a "portable" 500kw generator out in the parking lot for the duration, and it was wired in to kick on automatically. Nice to see my phone bill being used so constructively.

Thanks! I've been trying to figure that one out for awhile now. ;)

I'm only a quarter of the way into the book. The author is pretty thorough. The FDA and the other departments it works with seems to be a huge overlap. For instance, the USDA is in charge of the chicken, yet the FDA is in charge of what the chicken eats.

The author has stated that most of the FDA workers do end up leaving the FDA and work for BP. No surprise there. They are very careful, almost to the point of too much in some peoples eyes about how they certify drugs. It's a fine line they live on of pushing a product through or not. Some people blame the FDA for not certifying life savings drugs, and some people blame them for one death from a certified product.

Interesting that generic drugs do not fall under as much scrutiny of testing as the non generic drugs. Because the drug manufacturer has to jump through hoops to get their drug on the market, a generic gets less testing such as higher dosages and so forth.
