Sitting down, facing forward.
As long as you bounced when you fell and are OK, Sandy! You might be a little stiff in the morning though.

We didn't get any snow here, at least since Saturday, but it rained again overnight and into this morning, then the sun came out and it got up to 50 or so. The long range forecast is calling for cold temperature, in the upper 20's overnight, for the next seven to fourteen days and a couple of chances for snow. What happened to spring?

I usually start my garden plants in the basement using a gro light, but this year I decided to use a shed that the previous owners built. It's kind of like a Quonset hut with fiberglass panels on the roof and corrugated steel for lower down on the walls. These guys had no clue about construction and our goal is to tear it down someday, soon. Anyhow, there's a bench in it on the south wall so I used some heavy clear vinyl to drape down from the roof joists to the table top. I just stapled it in place and use a spare piece of 4x4 to hold the front in place so I can get into it to water. I checked it today, it's still empty, and the inside temperature had risen to over 70 with the outside air, at the time, being about 45, not too bad. I still will wait until there's no danger of freezing temps overnight before I put seed out there.

Hope you are ok Sandy!

Welcome John!

Sounds like a good plan for your starter plants Awsum!

I feel for all the east coasters. When I lived back east, it seemed like it took forever for spring to arrive. I remember days where I'd have short sleeves on and the next day I'd be back in my winter coat. I hope spring comes quick for you!

Received some vape mail today from Perfumers Apprentice. The package said it was from "The Apprentice". I thought of the show, but realized what it was. Anyone watching the celebrity apprentice? I don't care for Donald Trump, but I do like the show. I cannot stand Omarosa and hope she's fired soon. I'm sure they keep her hanging around for ratings.

Oh my goodness Sandy! I'm so glad you didn't hurt yourself from that fall, especially your arm! Please be careful if you have to go back out again.

I love cherry blossoms and will be so glad to see them start to bloom. Then I will know that spring has finally arrived. Tomorrow is the first day of spring according to the calendar but they are predicting some type of winter stuff for tomorrow too. I really hope they are wrong...

I'm glad I didn't hurt my arm, either. I was told by the surgeon last visit not long ago that a fall wasn't any more likely to hurt it than any fall to my other arm. It's totally healed as far as that goes, though I still don't have full range of motion, which is what I want badly.

The first day of spring here, we expect some more snow. It's never really spring till around the middle of April.

I didn't bounce, I slid, which is probably just as good. I think bouncing when I fall is a thing of the past. Used to be, when I fell off a horse, I just hopped back on. Now I go thud and hurt. But this fall wasn't from a height or moving fast. Interesting thing, when I landed, I kept a grip on the mail, I didn't drop it. I think this is what happened to my arm: I kept a grip on that wire fence strand while I was being tumbled about. I should have let go. But these things happen so fast that you don't have time to think, and I guess my instincts say, "Hang on!" If I was about to go over a cliff, that might save my life, and I've wondered if that's why I have the hanging-on instinct. Maybe it's something genetically encoded into us from too many near falls off cliffs?

Women's Revenge

A cashier ask the lady "Cash, check or charge"? after ringing up her purchases.

As the lady fumbled for her wallet, the cashier noticed a TV remote control in her purse.

The cashier ask, "So do you always carry your TV remote while shopping?

No the lady replied, but my husband refused to come shopping with me and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally

Remember this song? Frankie Valli And The Four Seasons- Walk Like A Man - YouTube

I was reading a book today that mentioned it, and it was weird that I never thought of this: "… Because in his lexicon, one of the all-time stupidest popular songs in history was Walk Like a Man, Talk Like a Man, sung in piercing falsetto by the lead singer of the Four Seasons. I think it was in first place for entire-song stupidity, with first place for single-line stupidity -- to say nothing of hardheartedness -- going to Now laughing friends deride tears I cannot hide." -- Mating, by Norman Rush.

SandySu - Glad you are okay.

Thanks for the envy, Kico:) It took me all winter to decide what to do about a round pen and I think we made the right decision.

Wiseguy's old owner just sent me a "miniature horsre" crossing sign. So cute.

Tired today. All worn out. Maybe I'll take tomorrow off too. I did manage to get the laundry done today but that was about it.

Have a great night, Volties.

Good night, all. Off to do my exercises, as usual. Here's a spidery type of flower.

We had a snowy day -- about an additional inch, though what we had last night melted mostly, so now there's only about an inch out there. Now it's sunny, sort of, but cooling off. I slipped and fell on the hill at the top of the driveway, something that I flirt with every time I go get the mail. I knew it'd be slippery, so I wore my shoes that have Spikeys on them, and still I slipped. I wasn't hurt, but my .... got very wet from the wet snow. I was not happy. I hate that hill in the snow!

To cheer myself up, and you, too, if you're still battling bad weather as March nears its end, here are some cherry blossoms. Yes, they will bloom -- someday.
Hey Sandy, you are lucky you didn't hurt yourself. A wet .... is ok :D

Good Morning Funnies

As a couple drove down a country road for miles, neither said a word to each other because an earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position.

As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats and pigs, the husband ask his wife sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?"

Yes, the wife replied ..........................."In-Laws"

Pretty funny, Bunny:)

Have some Cafe Verona, Volties.

Well, definitely feel perkier today and have a whole list of stuff to get done.

I think I need to bring the potting soil and trays inside so they will be warmed up and ready to get some petunias and such started.

Hoping to get the peas in this weekend. Three kinds. Snap peas, garden peas and pod peas. Yummy!

Please don't get me started Lizzie

Last year I planted tooooo early and had to start over three weeks later. I love gardening, but not until it gets about 70 degrees outside. Last year it warmed up real early. I had my garden tilled once in the fall, so it was semi-ready. I did a quick tilling with fertilizer in Late March and planted in early April. Nothing came up after 3 weeks, so I waited until early May and did another quick tilling and replanted. Then everything germinated. I have yet to try a little greenhouse, but that may be my answer. I usually plant squash, and cucumbers, then purchase tomato and pepper plants. While many farmers in the area grow mellons, I have had no luck with them at all. I can't even seem to grow pumpkins in the fall either.

Vaping Recipes

If you all haven't tried a very little bit of peach and orange in your RY4 mix, it is just wonderful. The Orange and Peach I have is concentrated from Wizard Labs, so I only use 1 drop per 10 ML each. It adds a mild hint of citrus to the flavor and cuts down on any harsh overtones. It is easily my favorite mix. I don't think it matters which RY4 recipe you use. Mine is 10% to 15% Dbl RY4 with 5% Vanilla and 5% Caramel and 1% or less of Tobacco Absolute. I have also added 1% Dark Tobacco Base, and it comes out stronger and a little harsh, but still tasty.

Bunny, do not, I repeat, do not fertilize within three weeks of putting seeds in as that will hinder germination in many cases:)

Put that fertilizer on there after the seeds have been up for a couple of weeks:)

Just my two cents.

We had major problems last year with the cold but I had stuff coming up so I fertilized with some all natural fertilizer I had laying around. Then we had to re-plant. I do think it hindered the new seeds trying to come up.This year no fertilizer will be going on the veggie garden until after June 1st:). Putting fertilizer on would ordinarily not have been a problem but the super cold snap we got around June first really caused us major problems. We had to replant only a week after applying fertilizer. This year, I hope will be better.

I've decided that starting some of my plants in the greenhouse is the only way to go. I am trying Hubbards and pumpkins in the greenhouse this year hoping to get a jump start on our short growing season. Obviously tomatoes and peppers like to get started early.

Stopping in to say hello and catch up a bit. I have been lurking at odd hours here and there, but just haven't had anything to add. But, I did notice a couple of threads in the general discussions about recent credit card frauds, so I wanted to give the links just in case. Can't be too careful with the online shopping!!

Hi Q, yeah, I've been checking my credit cards to make sure I don't have weird charges. I saw those threads, too.

Well, too windy to get much more done today. Isn't that just too bad. Guess I'll have to hang out and read a book until Hubby comes home.

I did get the irrigation supplies straightened out and the Long Shed neatened up. I got my seed starting supplies and my seed tray rack into the house. I went from the garage to the Barn Shed to the Long Shed about 12 times:) I just keep going in a circle over and over until I have everything sorted out and put away a few items at a time.Found the wood glue so that saved me about $3. Hubby said the old stuff was hard as a rock but I found the newer bottle and it looks fine. No excuse not to get my chair fixed now:)

You are always busy doing something, so you deserve to rest and read. What are you reading? Is it interesting?

Speaking of which, remember I said I was going to volunteer for the library and therapeutic riding? I filled out a form for the library and heard back from them. Just waiting for a face-to-face interview now. It's almost as complex as applying for a paid job! I also heard from the therapeutic riding woman, but I phoned her, she said she didn't have time to talk and could she phone me that evening? I said yes, we agreed on a time, and I never heard from her. About an hour after the agreed-on time, I phoned her again and got voice mail. Still haven't heard back. Either she's a flake, in which case, do I really want to work for her? Or she doesn't really want me to volunteer, and she's trying to put me off. Or, and I hope this isn't so, since it snowed and was slippery yesterday, I hope nothing happened like a car accident to get in the way of her plans.

I've been reading historical novels lately. I just finished The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory. She also wrote Cleopatra and The Other Bolyn Girl which was made into a movie.

The book I just started is Lord of the Bows about Genghis Khan by an author named Conn Iggulden. Never heard of him so we shall see.

Maybe the therapeutic riding lady is just busy or she is disorganized?

One of my first jobs was at a library reshelving books. It was a big library in California.

I'm pooped! I was up at 5 and started working at 7 this morning. Did some carpentry here, then out to do a little plumbing job, put up a shelf and hang some paintings. Then back home for more carpentry. I just sat down to relax for the first time today. I'm not used to that any more, retirement is spoiling me! I gotta get back into shape!

I usually fertilize a week or two after planting and I plant six to eight inch seedlings. I start them in the house and this year in my little green house. I may actually plant the seeds in the basement tomorrow or Friday to get a little head start on the weather. They won't need the gro light until they start to sprout and by then, hopefully, it'll be over freezing temps at night.

We've done cantaloupe and ended up with far more than we could eat or give away, and it doesn't freeze well unless you can flash freeze it. I've tried peppers for three years and they just don't mature well, small and miss shaped. We do like the really small sweet pepper in salad, but one plant and we're swimming in them. We grew some really small tomatoes one year, like the size of cranberries, and they were great in salads or even by themselves. You could eat them like raisins and the taste was very tomatoey with low acid content. The place where we got the seeds is no more, so no more of them until I find another supplier.
