I'm here. It was such a beautiful spring day that I bet everyone went out to enjoy it. I know I did. I went to Taughannock State Park, which is nearby, to walk up to the big waterfall. Of course, I took my camera with me, but I focused on stuff that you don't usually on the first visit. People always take a picture of the big waterfall, and I've done that. I've even posted some photos of it before. So this time, I took a close-up of the top of the fall.
The water was full from all the recent spring rain, though we haven't had any in the last several days. It's been bliss with sunshine and warm temperatures! But here's a section of one of the smaller falls, where you can really get an idea of the rushing water.
Here's a quieter section with the obligatory little boys with sticks. I've often thought how it's genetically encoded in small male children to find a stick and use it. Must be a holdover from caveman days or something.
At the upper edge of the gorge, there was a tree blooming. Too far away to say what kind of fruit tree it is.
And another shot of the lip of the gorge.
After walking up to the falls and back, I crossed the road to the section on the lakeshore. This is Cayuga Lake, which the Taughannock Creek flows into.
There was a tree blooming with pink star magnolias! I have only seen the white ones till now.
So that's what I did today, and I hope you enjoyed sharing my walk.
