I have had the weirdest thing with chocolate lately, and Ive been wondering if anyone else has had the same.

I bought J********'s "chocolate stuffed french toast" and Halo Purity's Chocolate... and both of them after being vaped for a while get this really dry flavor. The chocolate and the sweetness disappears, and just turns into "dry".
Anyone else have this? It's making me want to avoid chocolate.

This happens with Halo's Belgian Cocoa for me. Personally, I always assumed it was because their juice is really really high in the PG, and they don't let you choose otherwise. I always imagined using the Belgian Cocoa flavoring with a 100% VG juice and a few drops of EM (maybe ACV) to get rid of that dryness. I just don't know where they get that flavor.

I made a chocolate covered strawberry vape last night, and it's okay.

1.5% FW Double Dutch Chocolate
5.5% LA Strawberry

The LorAnn strawberry is really good, one of the better ones. The chocolate isn't bad, but the flavor is so subtle. I know what you're thinking, pump that blend with more of that chocolatey goodness! Can't. The more of this particular chocolate that is added, the more burnt it seems to taste. More experimenting to follow.

Took a risk, added an additional 1.5% of the chocolate... nearly flavorless, strawberry is gone :glare:

So, I just added another 1.5% of the strawberry, and it tastes like it originally did, lol.

I didn't want to have to go on another wild goose chase, but, I'm thinking about putting into a cart every chocolate I haven't tried as of yet... as well as some of the more popular vanillas, and get to the bottom of this!

I am no chocolate master but I may have a clue. This happened to me completely by accident. I have a lot of chocolate flavors. I wanted to add depth to a creamy pineapple I would whip up. I added 2% clear chocolate TPA, 5% dark chocolate TPA to just see how it went. I tasted the chocolate a bit in the background. My boyfriend at the time really could taste the chocolate much more than even I could.

If you have it on hand and haven't tried it, attempt TPA chocolates(if you can use both dark and clear together) at a low %. I also added EM at about 3%(1 tsp per 10 ml PG, EM formula)

My big one I'm still trying to figure out is a good mint chocolate. I found a bit of hope with "Express" Mint Chocolate. The alcohol based super flavorings. I found the chocolate taste was quite nice but the "mint" side of things was overpowering, a bit more menthol than mint for me. Over 3% the flavor became too much. I must of tried to re-create a solid mint chocolate about 10 or more times at this point.

Like others have mentioned the vanilla, cream and so on might be a missing puzzle piece for chocolate. I really enjoyed Capella's "Boston Creme Pie" flavor. This is the way I made it:

CA Boston Creme Pie- 17%
CA Fudge Brownie-3%
CA Vanilla Custard-3%

By no means was is this pure, unadulterated 100% chocolate flavored. I remember this gem as one I really enjoyed(I LOVE Boston Creme Donuts) as I found this type of cream flavoring worked very well with the chocolate, complimenting the chocolate notes. I didn't get that "toostie roll" sort of flavor that makes me gag. It came off for me, as more real, rich chocolate but more in its undertones/sometimes in the middle. As always flavor is subjective.

Chocolate is terribly hard to master. I personally don't care too much for the LorAnn Chocolate, nor the TFA Milk Chocolate. As far as a straight chocolate goes, double dutch seems to be decent, but I have difficulty increasing the flavor without it tasting burnt.

Capella makes some great chocolate-esque type flavors, like Chocolate glazed doughnut (delicious), and Chocolate fudge brownie (also great), but they're not what I too am looking for, a good, solid, plain milk chocolate (Hershey's).

If anyone has the chocolate answer, I too am listening.

Capella "Double Chocolate" mixed with TFA "Milk Chocolate" is pretty good.

2 parts Capella " DOUBLE CHOC" to 1 part TFA "MILK CHOC"

EX. 6% Double Choc
3% Milk Choc
5% TFA English Toffee
2% TFA hazelnut

Thats a decent candy bar vape.

I really like chocolate and eat some most days. My problem is I have never vaped a chocolate liquid I like. I've tried several and none taste right. I've been a DIYer for a few months now and wont even attempt a try. I did just order some White Chocolate from WL but White Chocolate isn't really chocolate so it may work for me. I want to make a peanut butter cup recipe I found. Another odd thing with me is I like fruit and eat some every week. I've never found any fruit flavor I like to vape. The closest I came was a banana tobacco but even then it wasn't a ADV. So, i'm limited in flavors to try. Mostly I stick with baked goods, tobacco and an occasional coffee. Hope you find what you're looking for. Good luck

That's IT exactly! :thumb: ... Most of the chocolates I try taste like a Tootsie-Roll pop and that makes me GAG as well! :glare:

I've had a moderate amount of success with SC Chocolate (the non-gourmet variety), Bavarian Cream conc, and Vanilla Swirl conc, all from VZ. I mix my BC+VS at 6%/12% and use it as a base for other flavors including the SC Choc, of which I add 4 drops per 5ml of BC+VS.

The maddening thing is that if I try to make it more chocolatey, the wattage I have to run it at to get the notes I want from the chocolate tends to distort the vanilla and cream flavors in a bad way. Arrrggg........ at least it's quite vapeable.

I threw these out over on the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...10-flavor-apprentice-flavoring-thread-52.html .
If they aren't sweet enough increase caramel or sweetener. Ethyl maltol won't hurt anything either. I like dark tobacco, dark chocolate, and darker coffee. Drink the coffee almost by I.V.

I don't have much experience with chocolate eJuice. I have Chocolate Truffle from Vaping zone, at 1.5% it was too much. At .75% it is so far just right (mixed 2 nights ago, spent 4 hours in the crockpot on low with shaking every 1/2 hour or so). I do seem to like lower flavourings then i see a lot of people post, so keep that in mind. It is not a milk chocolate at all (I've never had truffle so I didn't know what to expect). To me it tastes a bit on the darker side, but not dark chocolate, with a mild nuttiness, not too sweet. It reminds me of a candy I had when I was at my grandparents when I was young, I think they were called macaroons, but I might be thinking of the wrong name.

Anyways, sorry for the not so great review, I wish I was better at explaining the high and low notes of a flavour. While this is not a pure chocolate flavour, it is quite tasty.

Looking forward to seeing how you guys make out, I really want a good chocolate vape!

The Chocolate Coffee and the Monster mix both have chocolate basically to take part of the bitter out of the coffee. That's not coffee clear. That's the black stuff. The dominant flavor in the Chocolate Coffee is Coffee. Wife won't vape it she won't drink coffee. I drink mine and her share. I don't like vanilla much so I use chocoalte. Monster Mix has a dominant coffee taste but it is tobacco heavy. Everything I have put this coffee in it comes to the front. MM taste more like a deep mildly sweet chocolate-coffee cigar. These are very difficult blends and will be tuned on as I go. Everybody is after that elusive chocolate. I'm after it and coffee both.

We're certainly getting lots of info, aren't we?

While I haven't commented, I've been reading/lurking.

Some comments may be in order, if you'll forgive my boldness in doing so.

Chocolate doesn't taste the same way to everyone, yet we can all agree chocolate flavor, in whatever form, is something we like. There are cake, fudge, candy, milk chocolate varieties. What brings us together is the difficultly in duplicating *ANY* of those iterations in our vaping. Many of us like sweet chocolate and yet would gag on "tootsie roll" flavor.

We've seen some very interesting comments from obviously educated and kind people. Kevin Brown gave us an idea. Get a dark chocolate candy bar, eat it and vape straight PG/VG and drink water while you're doing it. What you taste will tell you what to put into your recipe was the inference.

Someone else mentioned using an infinitesimal amount of eucalyptus. I think that person is right on. I mentioned an expert opinion that vanilla should be an essential ingredient.

Another kind person mentioned coffee as a catalyst to bring out the chocolate flavor.

I think these are all suggestions that should be factored in as we experiment.

I can't determine a "best case" for any particular flavor producer, although TFA seems to be mentioned the most. They have a nice variety of chocolate bases. Someone mentioned mixing two of the TFA chocolates; dark and milk, I believe. DIY Shack has an "Expert Chocolate Flavor" that I have. It smells pretty complete. It is sweet. No success yet, though.

I will mention two more things. I have avoided posting my disasters. I had my oldest son in stitches when I asked him if he'd like to know what a good lick on a donkey's rear end tasted like. That's about the best I've done in trying to make a chocolate.

On top of all this, we must remember the influence PG/VG ratio has on flavor. We must factor in wattage and volts, cartos, attys, and clearomizers and the influence they all have.

This is NOT an impossible task. 9 out of 10 people will enjoy a chocolate ice cream cone, a fudge sundae, or a Hershey's chocolate bar. You won't convince me one of us can't come up with a chocolate flavored liquid that's good without regard to nicotine strength and all the other variables inherent in what we're doing. Let's just hope it's soon. Ha!

I wrote this message to "coagulate" some of the high points of the discussion so far. Hopefully, someone will read this, plow back through the thread and be inspired to share their recipe or make one we can all enjoy. No disrespect to the original poster.

Nobodies taste buds are the same. I agree with tdtyler wholeheartedly. I put out what I put out so that maybe it will give somebody else an idea they haven't had or get them to try what they haven't tried. I'm not doing it so you'll like it. That's a plus if you do. I'm mixing for my buds not yours. I have no intention of ever creating a mix to sell. This is just for fun.
