I'm trying to figure out what coil resistance would best fit our taste and am stuck. Come next Friday my wife will be using her istick 20w with her new PT2 while I'll be upgrading from a cheap $20 ego blister kit to a IPOW 2 VV/VW with a Genitank using single coils in it and just not sure what resistance to get and wattage to use? My wife is more about flavor than throat hit or cloud where I like flavor and a little throat hit. I've looked at charts and read up on ohms but all I see is numbers LOL! So I figured I'd ask for some advise from you seasoned vets on the coils to get?

First thing to mention here is that those charts are extremely outdated. Ignore them.

Since you're both using regulated mods with adjustable power, the resistance (especially on replacement coils for a clearomizer) isn't really going to make a difference. That said, I'd avoid the 1.2 ohm coils on the genitank with the IPOW - these ego twist style batteries don't usually have the right amp limits to run coils under 1.5 or so safely. Other than that, you're both fine with any of the replacement coils available and probably won't be able to tell any difference between them.

Just stay above one ohm for the istick. I don't know the specs of the other battery. The istick is overpowered so I would get 1.5 ohm or less coils (think there's a 1.2 ohm version as well?). Since you can adjust the power on the batterys, the coil resistance isn't an issue like it used to be

So 1.2 or 1.5 ohm coils for the istick for the best vape.

Not sure on the other, sorry.

So would say 1.5-1.8ohm be a good resistance for both since I'll be running single coils in both? And as for wattage what would be a good setting?

As a rough point of reference; the KIK ego with 650mAh battery I bought for emergency spare, it just gives up after about a dozen puffs with any coil under about 1.2 Ohms.

Generally speaking; anything over 2Ah lasts me all day and then some - when rewinding, I aim in the general direction of 1.2 - 1.4 Ohms.

Lower ohms (coil burns hotter) for a warmer vape.

Higher ohms (coil burns cooler) for a cooler vape.

"Throat hit" is determined mostly from the nicotine concentration than anything.

Nicotine also influences the flavor, as it has its own peppery taste added to the intended flavor. Less nic, more flavor.

The original old "ohms charts" were designed for cartomizers, and may not apply to today's clearomizers or rebuildable coils.

A rule of thumb which may still apply is to use the Ohms plus 2 Formula: Add the number "2" to the resistance of the coil and the sum will be a good starting place for voltage in a variable voltage regulated mod.
Examples:

2.0 ohms + "2" = 4 volts
1 ohm + "2" = 3 volts

I have both the istick20 and the ipow, I liked 1.8 dual coils in both. honestly save your money on a ipow and get a istick for yourself.
My ipow have to recharge every 5-6 hours and It quit working after 3 weeks (local shop did replace for me)
istick20 I charge every day and a half I get a much better vape and flavor with the istick.

I was thinking of getting the Smoktech ARO II which is the same price ($25 ) of the IPOW and is a VV instead of a VW the iStick there is $31 and would throw our spending budget off.

Well I'm bitting the bullet and am going to buy the MVP 20w! MT. Baker Vapor has them for $32 and with the %10 off code you can get here that puts it at like $29 and with shipping I'm looking at $35. Down fall is I'm gonna have to shop around for a cheap $5-$6 tank to throw on it for a couple of months. I was looking at the MVP 2.0 starter kit they have that comes with a iClear 30 and a 15ml bottle of juice for $35 but figured that extra 10w would be nice!
